Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but I felt I needed to extend a thank you to ERS JOHNSON!
I ran a google search yesterday to find good all around C Class cars and ran across this thread. I still consider myself a novice in this game/series and though I feel I’m pretty good at improving my rides through Upgrades I have no idea how to actually tune for that extra special oomph. After debating a lot of choices I went with one of ERS’s 73 Trans Ams.
Wow ERS! I’ve tried roughly 10 tunes for different cars from different people so far and this one, especially for a muscle car, has some serious stuff going on! Power, speed, tremendous Acceleration, great braking, seems nice and grippy, nimble nimble nimble (didn’t expect how nimble, SO nice!), this car has it all. Absolutely my fave tune for any car I’ve tried thus far. I Followed you and will be giving that tune a max rating. I haven’t run any races with it yet but practicing on the Bernese Alps I almost matched my best clean lap time ever on that track after only 6 laps. I tend to practice on the B Alps because if I can do well there I feel I can do well on a lot of tracks as far as 1 overall good car for all tracks.
I do have 2 questions on finding more tunes from you:
After buying and getting in the Trans am, I didn’t have any luck searching on your name (either “ERS” or “ERS JOHNSON”), I finally found your Trans Am by searching for C Class cars and scrolling until I found it. Am I adding your name to the wrong spot, maybe for future searches I should try searching Description instead of searching Creator?
Forgive a novice question but is there a way to search everything uploaded by any 1 creator or someone I am Following? I seem to be only able to search tunes on the specific car I am in at any given time but I would like to search your entire list of shared tunes to see what else you have available. Hopefully there are ways to search for tunes for cars other than the one I am currently in.
Anyway, no matter what I will always be interested in your tunes when I run across them after trying this Trans Am. I love muscle cars (but love other cars as well and will not limit myself to just muscle cars) but didn’t think I’d have a chance in any of them. Now I know better! There are people out there who can handle the living daylights out of tuning them. I am really glad I ran across this thread yesterday, thank you thank you thank you!
Best cars for online C class are Mecedes 190e, Mazda MX5, old Mini, Lotus Elan among others, but to get the most out of them you will need to tune them properly and stay out of trouble in races. It’s best to start slower, wait for everyone to wreck on first corner then pass them all.
But for me after reaching level 600+ and maxing out all the Affinity for the cars above, I am now racing with worse cars that I’ve tuned myself and most of the time I win. It’s so funny listening to people comment on how in the world I managed to beat them in much better cars using my little Kia… So much fun!
To gain something on the long straights you usually have to sacrifice handling in some way.
Try my Ferrari 250 GTO or Corvette C1.
If you want to stay with the non muscle cars search for a well tuned RX7. They generally have good top end but they can struggle acceleration wise sometimes.
Also a muscle car that really surprised me was the 69 Chevy Nova tuned by Craviator. It was an open source tune on the old forums - I am not sure if it is still possible to find it on the forums or if it is shared. I know you say you do not like muscle cars but this tune makes it easy to drive.
Race Air Filter
Race Intake
Race Ignition
Race Exhaust
Race Brakes, Springs, ARB, Weight (NO Rollcage)
Sport Clutch
Race Driveline, Race Diff
Sport Tyres
Iforged Fabulous Rims
Full Aero
This is for accelerating tracks, ie sebring, Road Atlanta. Its currently #1 on Sebring Short, but it will probably be beaten. Great lobby car
THIS IS CRAV’S TUNE NOT RDO3’S. I’M NOT CLAIMING OR STEALING ANYTHING. its just a copy and paste since the legacy forums only seem accessible about half the time.
so when i build this tune it stays at 462? is there a reason is it incomplete and up to me or am i forgetting something i followed it to a t and still capped at 462 with no where near the hp or torque
I promise u those cars will surprise u on how nimble they are. U can run them on every single track except berne Se cuz they don’t have the handling for that
I have to say it all depends on the tune. I tune my own stuff. I believe that for the most part is the only way to be as fast as you can be. Other people tunes are tuned for there style, so unless you race like them or you are so good you can race anything, tune your own. But if not and you just want a top tune car, and heck I’ll get use to it as long as it’s stable just try some 5 star tunes for your cars. And once you find a tuner that you like his style favorite him and he will show up if he has a tune for the car your looking for. I rock in C-Class and I have tones of tunes for share. I race at a top 600-800 level for every track. Some top 300-500 times. So, no I’m not the best but I’m fast and I build lobby tunes not hot lap tunes. So either muscle or grip my cars I share are good tunes for lobby racing. So check me out: Ciscomatic
my best C class car for online at the mo is my 69 Dodge charger i have not lost a race in it yet. the tune is also online.
you have to drive it like you have stole it. and it loves it
Check out the Tuner’s Lounge section and Tuning Shop Catalogs within that section. You can see publicly available tunes and download them to try out a bunch of cars and figure out what you like. If you are just starting out, AWD and FWD cars are easier to handle and can be competitive on almost every track in C class. The Evo.8 (V12 Braveheart tunes) and '97 Civic (V12 TN Eagle tunes) are great all around cars. I personally don’t care what anyone drives, but (as UU mentioned above) some people call out others who are winning consistently with “leaderboard” cars which these can be viewed as…FWIW, Johnson’s Trans Ams are awesome and have much more grip than your typical C class muscle cars - definitely give those a go. If you don’t like RWD, Lou3824’s Kia does well on speed tracks.
after using ers johnson’s trans am build. i want to try a few more of his muscle car builds in c class but i dont think he has many. the car handles amazingly i had a few guys asking me how on earth i’m taking corners so smooth and perfect.
i cannot and will not ever tune my own car’s i just don’t got the time to to learn how to tune it ruined forza motorsport 4 for me so i’ll stick to the community to help me in that regard. just cannot be asked to learn something i have no desire fore. i just want to drive with good tunes creating my own is a no go and never EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER will be.
any more car suggestion and tunes i’ve only skimmed up this thread since my last post.
I’m glad to hear that you like the Trans ams!. I will go thru and see what I have shared and update you hopefully tomorrow with some more toys to play with. If you ever race B class I have about 90 shared cars or so just for that class. I don’t always list the really good ones
because I think half the fun is just trying what’s out there.
Fyi smooth and perfect isn’t the car that’s you. Sounds like as long as you get a good car you can drive the wheels off of it so good job on that!
Hi Dism3mbermenT! Here are some suggestions from my tune list, not sure which DLC’s you have but here it goes:
Mazda MX-5 Cup, Dodge Dart Hemi Super Stock, Ferrari 250 California, Ford SVT Cobra R '93, GMC Syclone (for fun :D). Try some of those and hopefully you’ll like them :).
My best car online is probably the 69 trans am. I think it wins around 85% of the time and I don’t recall ever finishing out of the podium. It runs top 100s in lobby which helps lol.
Other cars I’ve been really successful with are: 2014 civic, integra (Worm’s tune), 97 civic, gen 1 miata, 93 mustang, 70 mustang, 90 camaro, the old challenger, veloster, kia (RPM Lou’s tune plus my changes), evo vII (braveheart and satasanta), 05 wrx (ONR tune), buick, Oldsmobile 442, mercury cougar, datson 510, ferrari 250 gto (auto upgrade), ferrari 250 tr, BRZ (one of the guys top 10 at spa has tune posted), ford fiesta 2014 to name a few lol.
For the most part, almost all cars that can be put in C class can be made fast on all or a few tracks.
