Where do I test tunes?

,

Since Forza 1 all I do is go through the tuning and throw on a 2 minute tune. Usually they are not to bad. Then I’d rip them out on a track and dial them in over a course of a half dozen races.

Working on a new car and it sucks. So I go to freeplay and have to set up a race. Then I go race…then have to quit to re-tune.
Didn’t the other ones have like test drive or something so you could tune as you lap?

So far this seems like a really stupid thing. especially since they wanted you to learn the car and improve it, yet put big blockades in front of you for doing it effectively?

main menu
→ race
→ free play
→ event setup
→ game type = test drive

While on track in a test drive, you can pause, make tuning changes, then resume with your tuning changes taking effect immediately.
There’s also no time limit in a test drive.

If you go into the build and tune menu when picking your car from your garage, then go to tuning press the x button will take you to test drive and from here you can pause and tune all you want.
You can also back out change car and tune again or change tires and fuel and I believe tire wear level.

I do most my suspension tuning on maple valley. Then for an all rounder, set it and forget it, I’ll be sure to go past redline in final gear at Daytona.

This is the quickest way. And after backing out of the test drive session, it puts you right back into the performance upgrades/tuning menu so it makes mixing and matching easy.

Also…

main menu
→ cars
→ my cars
→ [select car]

…The first/top menu option for a car in your garage is “race in free play.”
From there, you can select “game type = test drive.”

When you’re on track in free-play test-drive and you want to change your car’s build/parts without leaving/unloading the track:

pause
→ exit
→ to event menu

…This will take you to the pit lane menu where you can select:

car
→ custom upgrade
→ performance

…Then install/uninstall parts/upgrades, and get back out on the track to test.
