Wheel degrees & settings?

Nice to hear from a staff member! I agree with the previous poster, please share your settings for all those wheels that you mentioned. Unless you’re using the default settings on all of them

Since Forza Motorsport 6, we have these big steering wheel threads where a Turn 10 staffer ducks in with some tidbits and/or information, then disappears, never to return.

It is clear that this is not their favorite topic, they might want to consider hiring someone who understands how to program decent FFB or ask KUNOS-Simulazioni Srl or SLIGHTLY MAD STUDIOS for help.

Aaron (who, to his credit, participated the most actively in any thread on the topic so far) is this person, hired to make FFB better.

According to the devstream a week or two ago, he has completely rebuilt Forza FFB for FM7 and says it is night and day, but not ready to be implemented yet.

But likely it will come to FM7 first and who knows if it will also come to FH4?

Ahh yes Aaron, the guy who didnt know there was a difference between sim and normal steering…

I am certain that the system he talked about is already implemented in FH4, at least an early version anyway bacause we have the feature that he talked about, we have impact forces, we have suspension tuning affecting FFB now and the biggest change is that the FFB has to be changed drastically in certain cars which indicated the the kinematic suspension model is in play too.

Will have to wait and see how it will play in FM7 but so far (according to a couple of testers and myself) FFB created by EmuWheel in FM7 is still the best FFB on any forza game hands down.

You were right Blue, FH4 already has the revised FFB system:

So we’ve got the revised system, I’m not sure if we can expect big improvements or changes from this point, but let’s see.

I think that explanation with Quotes you posted is not entirely true, I use a G25 on PC and can definitely tell difference between Simulation Steering and Normal, with nothing else changed.

Normal just feels a bit dead with my wheel, switch it to Simulation and it feels more alive, so their comment about if using a wheel the setting makes no difference is phooey.

Can understand having to use Normal and assists with a controller as they are just not precise enough to control a cars behaviour with any finesse, its basically full throttle or nothing same with wheel lock.

The little sticks on a controller just cannot provide the small movements and precision.

Will have a look at that wheel document although I have my G25 working well and cars are infinitely more controllable than with my Xbox Controller.

It’s from the developers, so if it’s true or not, it’s on them.

“The Normal steering assist may make FFB feel “sharper” because it influences the yaw inertia of the car to help maintain control during rapid lock-to-lock steering situations. This makes the car somewhat less agile than with Simulation steering, but also more stable.”

Normal steering is an assist.

Interesting read. Time to reset settings and test again. I still recommend Outside dead zone at its lowest for 1:1.

UPDATE: Did a reset of the Advanced settings, Outside Deadzones 20, Vibration Off, Damper 30 and everything else default. Night and Day difference. Feels much better ( Not Forza 7)

My Fanatec Wheel Setting

FF - 60
SHO - Off
ABS - 80
DRI - Off
BRF - 40

If you’re a wheel user and haven’t yet, check out the wheel guide in the new Support link. I had been hating FH4 on my TX and just playing with a controller. I turned up damper to 150, dropped Understeer to 19, Vibration pretty low as well, and suddenly everything came to life. Thanks for the tips!

Still do not know how you can use your wheel with Deadzone outside at 20, it must be your make of wheel or you using normal steering with 270 DOR, try it with my G25 at 720 degrees and it just limits the amount of steering lock the car has.

100 works perfectly for me with DOR of 720, Car wheels get to full lock same time as my wheel does (normal cars anyway) race cars generally have smaller steering rotation.

anybody got a fix for me? TM TX the ffb feels absolutely good, exept weakish ffb on the center and when going at high speeds it feels like the tyres are jerking and also causing the wheel to jerk. Feels kinda same as in assetto when road and slip effect is turned on.

You should post your settings for each wheel, in wheel app and in game so others with those wheels can try them without all the faffing.

I agree that the wheel feels non-existent at center. I have tried every config I could find and or adjust but just feels terrible, so bad to the point I thought possibly my wheel went bad but I put on FM7 & FH3 and felt great, obviously FM7 much better than Horizon but I would expect that since FM7 leans more to the sim side of racing.

[Mod Edit - thread merged - MM]

Read through this thread and tried a number of the settings posted here. They really do improve how it feels on tarmac, but I still can’t get it to feel good on the dirt tracks! Am I missing something?

I will say this is my first Horizon game using a wheel, usually just play Assetto Corsa. I know it’s not going to feel the same, but dang it’s borderline unplayable on dirt tracks.

Setup: PC Version, Fanatec CSL Elite
Settings: Tried various posted in this thread, Tried assists on and off, tried Normal & Sim steering. Even tried lowering my graphics down.

Help!
