Becoming disappointed in the car list and car additions so far. Firstly the list at launch was simply unacceptable for a game of this calibre there’s no other way of putting it missing models from FH4 and FH3 also his is a 2021 game running into 2022 and we are still driving around the same model year cars from Forza Motorsport 4, a game from 10+ years ago. I feel like I’m playing FH4 or FH3 again and I’m sure many others are.
Secondly to make things worse they are recycling cars which have been normally accessible and available and bringing them back and branding them as “brand new” or adding them in the car pass like the 911 Sport Classic which was last in the Porsche FM4 DLC which is pathetic.
Thirdly getting some of the cars is a chore, a chore due to the fact the broken playlist feature which has had its run in all honesty doesnt feel rewarding its the same rinse repeat championships, the poor Trial mode and PR stunts we’ve done using cars we particularly care about. Needs a huge revamp.
Maybe their laser scanning car rotisserie is broken because we’re still riding around in 2015 Audi RS6s when there’s a totally bad 2021 rs6 avant…total laziness if you ask me
It’s not laziness, these cars cost money to put in the game. There’s licensing fees as well as paying people to actually put it in the game. Its not worth the timen effort and especially money to do so. I’m not defending them I totally agree that there should be a constant flow of “new” cars when these games release but that’s just not the way it is. Unfortunately it seems as though it’s worse then before likely because it’s not easy to scan cars during a pandemic and because being a day one gamepass release and game sales not being an important factor, we’re likely to see minimal effort when it comes to content as well as bug fixes. They’re gonna get their “best release ever” headlines while releasing extremely similar yet inferior sequels every time.
The money argument is useless when the game brings in incredible profits. Yeah, it’s expensive, but that’s to be expected, and they should expect to make that money back and more.
FH5 is a lazy, broken and bugged reskin of FH4 missing it’s best features. Stop expecting anything. The Devs don’t even play their own game and have no idea what’s going on. Since this game has zero Competition on the market, they can do whatever they want. If FH6 contained a single car with a single race track to play on it would still sell like hot cakes.
I beg to differ. I picked up a PS5 awaiting GT 7. This game’s lack of “car culture” and competive MP racing has totally taken away the reason for an Xbox…R.I.P everything in FH4 that kept me coming back…
You’d be wrong. They can’t just use the car. They have to pay for the licensing rights. Not to mention pay their employees to model the car and physics, code it into the game, etc.
Yes, it was in previous Forza games, but I think the licensing has to be renewed every year, which is why we end up losing cars.
The work was already done. The FH4 Barn Finds are erroneously listed as barn finds in FH5 so they likely just copy files over. All the cryptic car names are still used plus the Caymans and Cayennes with the same name so I personally don’t see effort past copying files / data.
The licensing isn’t knowable unless you work there. Manufacturers sometimes want items promoted in games and could be a more complex deal to get the Bronco as product placement. We’ll never know for sure. I like the F450 but I don’t know why it was added. The cost of the licensing has to be justified by the return they get for the car.
Actually, it’s pretty common knowledge that licenses don’t carry over and I’m pretty sure the developers explained it a while ago as well and as far as I recall the licensing is done over car and not per manufacturer.
Like how does normally business goes? You invest money, pay workers, produce and/or sell a product, make a profit to keep up with your bills, make more profit to keep some money for yourself, make much more profit to reinvest it into your business to make it grow.
So if Microsoft and Playground Gamed did not invest in new car models, their profits would decrease in a long term.
And getting the licensing isn’t necessarily just a matter of money. A company may simply want to license some cars and not others, or may only offer a license under certain conditions.
And that’s probably a relatively small part of what goes into the decision of which cars to put in the game and how.
I’m not going to pretend that I know the slightest thing about licensing, but to make the ‘ol’ reliable’ response to when some asks why a certain car is no longer in the game when it’s been in the franchise from the year dot, does just not sit right with me at all.
I simply just do not buy it. I mean, I still don’t understand why Lancia and Alfa Romeo aren’t in the game… Yeah I’m aware of the ‘big restructure’ going on a Stellantis and people like putting it down to that… But that ‘big restructure’ has not stopped Gran Turismo from including Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia in GT7… So… what’s going on there?
There is so many cars from H4 that are just no where to be seen in H5 for absolutely no reason what so ever. I mean, my absolute favourite car (Citroen DS 23) that was added in H4 at the end of its life span, and it’s nowhere to be seen in H5. And I simply do not believe that they’ve just magically lost the licensing to the Citroen brand, especially when Renault and Peugeot are still in the game, and they’re all under the same corporate umbrella that is the PSA group.
I’m not going just straight up deny the fact that licensing is a utter mine field, but the play list has proven, just in the three months the game has been out, that it’s not just down to ‘licensing issues’.
There’s many reasons why cars and/or manufacturers don’t return. For all we know polyphony could’ve bought the rights to those brands, it happens. Sometimes manufacturers may raise prices on licensing and it might not be worth paying a premium price for a handful of niche cars. Theres also a possibility they’ll be drip fed back into the game as “new” content in the future. Regardless of what people may think about the revenue this game makes there’s still a budget that they adhere to which I’m sure is lower than ever before. They lso don’t need to go above and beyond anymore trying to find new players, they have no competition.
I’m going to throw my 2 cents in say and if I’m fed up with the car list its because this game is still using recycled and upscaled models from the original forza motorsport. How anyone thinks that’s acceptable is beyond me, but I’m looking at you Silvia S15. Honestly plenty of these old car models look like they scanned a a hotwheel and called it a day, sad.
Love this game and this franchise but the next forza whatever needs to wipe the slate clean of the garbage and focus on quality.
