What is up with FMs colors/brightness?

XBX, HDR, Performance RT: Can someone please tell what is really going on with the overall color/brightness in this godforsaken game? Since launch back in October the game has had its car colors all over the place and the brightness clearly has a mind of its own on when to work and not…

When I say Mercedes Silver (or gray), everybody on this planet who has an interest in cars know exactly what that paint looks like. Still, Forza Motorsport has been unable to produce me a Mercedes in Silver. It comes out as somewhat matte gray or darker grey… Why is it so? Does anybody know?

And the shadows, why is the interior (brightness/shadows) in Forza Vista so dark that you can barely see the dashboard in front of you? Why is it so? Does anybody know?

Agreed. Sometimes I think it’s my tv settings but FH4 looks good. FH5 as well, although it isn’t perfect either. But taking FH4 as a benchmark; FM8 is waaaaaaaaayyyyy off!! The colours look nothing like how they should. Even stock Ferrari’s look bad and I always use those to see if my reds and yellows are showing up properly.

It Doesn’t Help that the artists went overboard with the Saturation of the Game I Don’t Understand why we can’t Adjust it our Selves in Video Settings and to Also Adjust other Elements of the Game that won’t Affect Performance I also have Dolby Vision on my TV and the Game still Looks Washed Out

Trying to rely on Windows BROKEN HDR calibration, makes the auto-HDR look really bad, all the whites are blown out. If I am driving towards the sun, the entire sky and road are pure white, can’t see anything. Even worse in fog.

There’s something not Working Right with HDR i hope they will Improve it & also show Before & After With such Changes

Try turning HDR10 and Dolby Vision off on the console. I did and it looks SO much better.

That’s because the game hasn’t been mastered in HDR10 properly. Not yet anyway.

Of course it will look better in SDR as it is using the consoles and TVs default values. HDR is a work in progress in the game I guess.

Haven’t even thought about that… Might give it a try, but I can’t see myself going in and out of the console main settings to change HDR for each game I play.

Out of curiosity, why do you have ycc422 enabled? It compressed the signal and you may not be getting the full range of colours.

Also, any real advantage to enabling 24hz and 50hz for apps? I always keep these off. Always have since before the Xbox One X.

The numbers you mention were default on my XSX. I’m in Sweden, not sure if that matters for which boxes that would be checked or unchecked.

HDR looks better on my samsung, Perhaps its a problem with dolby vision?

One funny thing that happened after update 5, i was racing at road america and i noticed all of the grass was lime green, like it looked ridiculous. But the car colors were extremely rich and vibrant, they did look amazing.

Once i reloaded the map the grass was back to its typical realistic looking green and the car colors were back to normal.

It was my first race after update 5. My guess is that the shaders didn’t load properly for my first load.

I heartily regret not getting pictures.

I think you mean Road America? Either that or you were playing FM7.

Yes, America.

Listen, a great TV may mask some of the HDR inconsistencies but it is inconsistent.

FH5 does a better job, but dang it - those pink/white brake lights

because someone would have to modify the UI with more buttons…
or maybe an entire new UI-Page…

and those things don’t happen in Forza… never ever

Disregard everything that I said.

I confused the brightness slider with the contrast slider on my display (AW3423DWF) . HDR works fine now.

I’m pleased that you found the Best option available @SuperHornetX391 settings HDR & Dolby Vision can only can do so much the game is washed out & I’m not the only one to express how the game looks i have my TV at the appropriate brightness & contrast i can’t have the TV to bright because it hurts my eyes @CJoke23 that’s not how changing visual & elements work changing UI isn’t Needed to change visual aspects of the game i know this because of Digital Foundry & I also Read online about video Games what does what how this & that works like FSR DLSS ALLM known as Game Mode many others that I can’t think of the top of my head. also what I mean by changing game elements is shadow quality cloud detail of track Details grass track detail ect ect like you can on PC

24 hz for movies and 50hz I believe is a lot of European content.

Gaming, the higher the better.

You make a good point i like the way you use words this helps me a lot because i have Trouble understanding language. semantic pragmatic I also Learn What words idioms ect to use by seeing how others on the internet interact & in IRL this how I get around the Disorder

Unless you have a great HDR TV that’s set up well(not talking its advertised to have it but actually implements it well) then never bother with HDR for games or movies. Also HDR is usually not implemented well in most games. Only a handful truly do it well.
