Graphics - colors are not correct, black appears as grey (1603981)

After playing for a couple hours I noticed that the colors are messed up. Black is not Black but it’s Gray. This really needs to get fixed specially for us that make Liveries, when I select Black I expect Black and not Gray color.

Below are 2 pictures 1 is the normal colors black and as you can see it is gray and not black and the other is the manufacturer color black and also not really black as you can see and on track the manufacturer black comes out as a very dark green. The entire color thing is messed up in this game and need a fix badly.

It looks like problems with HDR and/or brightness and contrast. I have this exact same problem with Forza Horizon 5 and when I disable HDR it becomes normal. In Motorsport it looks like the game keeps forcing HDR, maybe it is a bug.

This is a known issue:

There is a workaround in this topic.

Already have HDR off so that aint it and the screenshot is a direct xbox series x capture. Even with HDR on black still aint fully black but it’s a tiny bit better. But yeah the colors are bugged.

Exactly, for me i think the game looks all washed out in every aspects, there is a strange bug in the rims of the cars too, appearing low detail…

I’ve also noticed that some cars have the incorrect factory colours, for both the primary and secondary colours. I have posted about this under ‘Car Colours Are Incorrect.’ I also hope that this gets fixed soon. This seems to be an issue that’s gained attention on here and hopefully will be fixed soon!

Just adding to the people having problems… While racing it might seem like a stylistic choice, but in menus/tuning/paintshop etc it’s flat out wrong (Xbox Series X).

Time for that patch to roll around and fix this and the other reported bugs. 1 thing that completely puzzles me is how in the world did they manage to not notice this color issue unless the entire team is color blind but I highly doubt that.

Black paint appears gray/dark green even when set to lowest brightness in the paint/vinyl editor (also includes factory colors). On Xbox Series X/S.

Well me and a group of 18 people been trying to get the colors right all day trying different settings, different tv’s 24 different tv’s to be exact. HDR different settings, HDR off and no matter what we tried we simply can’t get thecolors as theg should be. Black remains gray and even a lot of manufacturers colors are messed up. Like with a porsche we got from one of the packs when I choose the black manufacturer color it comes out as a purplish color. So come on Turn 10 snap to it and fix the colors please because it really is a bug!

Yes, my colors look exactly like OP’s photos of “black”. Entire game is washed-out in appearance. Did notice that black looks a bit better during night races, interestingly.

I’m on Xbox Series X. have tried changing graphics settings (Picture vs Performance RT). Have restarted the game many times. Have cold booted the console several times. No change.

Same problems here on Xbox Series S.

Cars, especially darker colors look washed out / hazy on car menus and races. Depth of color missing.
*excluding headlights (and wheels), which in some cases seem very dark, almost black.

I’m having the same problem with the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Many manufacturer colors are wrong. The very vibrant blue is coming through as an almost pastel blue color. The stock wheel color is showing as silver, but should be a hyper black/dark gray color.

The ENTIRE hood also changes to either black or carbon fiber for manufacturer colors, depending on the finish chosen for the hood insert. The ZL1 hood should match the body, unlike the ZL1 1LE, which has a flat black hood.

A second vehicle, the 2002 Pontiac Trans Am is also showing incorrect manufacturer colors. The burnt orange color is coming through as a very bright (like a traffic cone) orange, and the Pewter color is showing as a dark gray.

And, as others have pointed out, black just isn’t BLACK. It’s dark gray.

Yeah a lot of manufacturers colors are completely wrong, i had the black manufacturer color of a porsche come out purple colored. They need to fix this fast

Still seeing this issue, despite changing mode, setting brightness to zero, saving and closing game and rebooting console. Would appreciate a fix.

Yeah no matter what settings you change it wont fix it. It’s a game bug with the color pallet that they need to fix and hopefully soon.

On Series X. Car paint and square vinyl have the same values, 75/100/22. The vinyl is the correct color.

Thankfully, vinyl colors seem ok and it’s not my old eyes.
