What happened to Mitsubishi?

Same as Toyota or is it another story ?

Toyota and Mitsubishi both refuse to grant licenses to non-Japanese developers. The same is happening with Japanese race tracks.

Only Gran Turismo will continue to have these 2 brands from now on.

Just hope we don’t lose Nissan or Subaru.

Yep it sure seems that way, keeping JDM in Japan. A pretty hardcore strategy, but desperate times I guess. Forza has been the front runner for a while now.

FH4 being the amazing game it is and FM7 getting better all the time, doesn’t look like T10 is going down any time soon. I know I’ll stick with em.

Could be the stupidest market decision I’ve heard of. Its not like they get absolutely free advertising from games and such… And Japan is a fairly small market aswell, where people dont own cars in the same frequency like in Europe or USA.

I don’t know where you live but here(canada) I see just as many Japanese cars as American. Probably due to Japanese cars being more reliable and we don’t have american pride where we need to buy American.

I see way more civics or carollas camrys accords then focus or malibus.

I live in Sweden so almost a “sister” country to Canada. Ofc there are alot of japanese cars here, but European/American cars is more common here, Japanese cars are often only bought by seniors. Most others buy cars how they are seen by others, like trends. Toyota sold Prius here when they where new cause of the environmental thingy, but now when basically every single automaker have hybrids they aren’t seen so often anymore. BMW and Mercedes sells more cars here because of the reputation. So for a potential buyer to buy a Toyota Supra 2019 vs a BMW M2 here is pretty much nothing.

Uh, so which is it?

It’s pretty even when you add pick ups. 90% of the pickups I see are american Rams or F150s. I see more Japanese cars. I see equal amounts of total vehicles. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, I gotcha.

Such a short-sighted decision. Utterly idiotic to be so nationalistic about it.

See post # 2 in the Car List thread pinned at the top of the forum for official statements on manufacturers and cars not in the list.

Cut off their nose to spite their faces. As much as I will miss them, I feel betrayed by this move and will not purchase a Toyota or Mitsubishi due to it. So many generations out there that grew up coming to learn about Japanese sports cars ie Supra, Evo, 3000gt, etc because of video games. These games shaped parts of us as car people, to punish your purist, biggest “fans” like this is a **** move that tells me Toyota and Mitsubishi don’t “get it” at all. This is a fact that is firmly backed up by their current line ups of sheep mobiles. I mean, the Eclipse is a friggin SUV now for God sakes. SMH.

Gents,

Whatever the reasons for the decisions made that have led us to this pass, let’s not start maligning those whom we’d like to see back in the fold in the future.

Mitsubishi haven’t made anything remotely fast or sporty for years, so it’s no surprise they weren’t interested in participating.

Depends though, the new evos aren’t that bad though and the old Evo would tear up any rally event. I do think it is a bit of a disappointment that there can’t be any Supras’ though, maybe in a future DLC if they change their minds

They haven’t built the Evo since 2016 though. Over here their range consists of a supermini, 2 SUVs, a 4x4 and a pickup, all but the latter are a very rare sight on the roads. However I definitely miss the RA70 Celica that helped me 3 star all the drift zones in FH3.

Honestly I won’t miss Mitsubishi that much. Can’t remember the last time I drove one in game. Even GT Sport’s roster of Mitsubishi cars is several variants of the Lancer and a concept car that doesn’t exist. Looks like they are on their way out of video games and the current lineup focuses much more on domestic cars.

I don’t know when these cars were added, but GT Sport came out last year. FM7 also came out last year, and had the usual cars from Mitsubishi. It could be something as simple as values, really.

As for Toyota, to me it’s clear: they have an exclusive agreement with Sony. And the fact they refuse to disclose their reasons in this day and age, fully aware of the troubles caused by exclusive licenses in the past, rubs me the wrong way.

Mitsubishi just had an Evo as dlc a few months ago. They also got Tsukuba circuit this year.

I’ve noticed some Toyotas have made their way into the game via other agreements like the race truck.

Any reason we can’t have a Supra in the game via fast and furious agreement? Like if they put the orange Supra in the game?
