FM7 - Toyota Production Cars Rumor

[Mod Edit - Hieronymus (Inappropriate link removed)]

Sad news :frowning:

*Toyota Production cars won’t feature in Forza 7.

So we’ll still get the aforementioned Hilux and no doubt their Endurance racecars.

Still, this is incredibly odd, with the Toyota Supra being way too significant a model for Turn 10 to cut off by choice. What is it with car manufacturers lately?

Sad news indeed I wonder if this will affect lexus hopefully not but guess we have to wait and see.

This is my question as well. I love the Supra but with some of the older JDM cars being brought back I can live with its absence. If Lexus were to go too though that would be a bummer

Wow really? So instead of a Porsche expansion pack, now it will be Toyota? This is non-sense, all of a “sudden” regular Toyota/Lexus cars are a problem? Bull.

Toyota probably struck a deal with someone for exclusive licensing. They don’t have a scandal going on like VW did when it was absent from Horizon 3, so I’m not sure why else they wouldn’t be in the game. My gut tells me Toyota may reveal either another concept/prototype or possibly the production version of the next gen Supra at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, and it might be tied in to GT Sport which is releasing the same month. Or my gut could be completely wrong and Toyota didn’t want their cars in the game for some odd reason

We don’t know about Lexus yet though so lets keep our fingers crossed

AR’s article makes it seems like Toyota is simply gone and after all this time, this just seems out of left field, hence why I feel there is some non-sense going on behind the scenes. I really don’t care for the race cars, I prefer the normal cars.

If it’s true Sony/PD are going to moneyhat Toyota in this case, after Turn 10 basically said they don’t believe in keeping manufacturers exclusive, then I would hope Turn 10 would retaliate. They can easily make Ferrari/Lambo or even Porsche exclusive to Forza.

If Lexus were not affected we would have seen it included in the list as Nissan/Infinity did appear there. Short of some crummy legalese explain action being couched now by T10 legal, we will get the official explaination for Toyotas absence soon. Not having them in the game will be a bummer for sure. Perhaps we could see more Honda Accords and Acura models instead, yes!

The world of licensing is a complex place my friend.

Also, like VW in FH3, don’t expect an expansion on a manufacturer just because they’re absent from the base game. Cause it probably won’t happen.

@JONK1969 do you care to weigh in on this situation?

Sure, if that’s the case, but this smells fishy. Licensing seems to only be a problem with Forza, I don’t see Toyota missing from GT Sport. Maybe their licensing went up much like Japanese tracks did, or Sony is moneyhatting, or something else, but like I said before, it just seems shady for a manufacturer to all of sudden make this complicated. Currently no scandal for Toyota like VW went thru.

It happens to Forza because they’re to only game to have 700 cars from 90 manufactuers.

The pattern I see with losing brands like VW in FH3 and now Toyota/Lexus in FM7 is that as you license more manufacturers and more cars it becomes harder to please everyone. There are way more variables that can go wrong. Cost is one of them. Brand relations is another. I’d wager this has to do with both of these things.

What a gong show. That is almost as big a loss – actually, it’s bigger – than VW was in F:H3. This is the weirdest thing I’ve heard in awhile. Man oh man, there seems to be trouble a brewin’ with FM.

As sad as this is, this also means the after taking into account say 505 cars from FH3 (excluding toyotas (ball part number!)) and added say 75 racing cars from FM6 (also a rough estimation!) that leaves us with around 120+ cars that could be new to the franchise, returning from previous Forza’s etc. To me, the loss of the 15 or sotoyota road cars, as much as it’s saddening, could end up being replaced by something much, MUCH greater! Time will only tell!

8th Generation Mitsubishi Galant/Legnum VR4! which is currently one of my most favorite cars.

Oh yeah my perception of much greater is completely differently to most people.

Lol. Nope, you’re not alone. I would be able to live with it a lot easier if they introduced some new-to-series jdm cars. Such as the Galant mention and the Leopard and Mazda Luce.

Either way; Toyota production cars not featuring in a major racing title has got to be a first.

There’s always a back story. With the demise of Scion and winding up production in Australia I guess Toyota have bigger issues.

Such a shame particularly because some of the older Toyotas are so much fun to drive in game. The AE86, the Corolla, the Supra and I really enjoyed the older Celica on FH3. Really hope this doesn’t affect Lexus as the LFA has been my go-to car to race on Forza since it arrived in the Top Gear Stig’s DLC on FM3.

Hey guys,

I know someone who works for TMG (who do the TS050 & help do stuff for Yaris WRC) he said to me that a gaming company had visited the HQ to scan the 2016 TS050…

The article states Toyota Race cars, Microsoft sponsor Toyota WRC…whether that deal will expand into the WEC team is unknown yet.

But there’s loads of cool Toyota / Lexus race cars.
