What are we working towards in career?
Exactly what are we grinding for, to get that nice car or that prestige level that means absolutely nothing
We do need some sort of better progressive reward system.

This would have been a great topic for turn 10 to have brought up a few years ago because the fact is its kind of too late to change the career progression philosophy now.
What i would have liked to have seen, even though its cliché at this point, to start at the bottom and work your way up. Most games including forza has taken this approach but truth is it works.
While i was playing this game i found it counterintuitive to go from a fully modified 911 to an early 90s stock m3.
With the amount of the cars in this game they could have had multiple choices of different series of tournaments based on car type. At the end of each individual tournament a reward car would be given that could be used in the next one. So people could have started with vintage hot hatches or vintage sport coupes and each series would work its way through to modern types of those cars.
The important part would be choice as in you could choose at any point what series youd race in. So if you did 2 tournaments in hot hatch you could jump to something else. It would allow people to try different cars from different generations, appreciate the evolution of those car types, earn a bunch of “free” cars that would most likely be used instead of forgotten about in your garage.
I think they could have added evey type of division in the career with this system. Having a reward car for each tournament would have also made people who dont usually play career play it.
I honestly dont know why they chose the upgrade system as the focus of progression. It doesnt promote progress when the rest of the game doesnt really feature ways to continually use the same car. All it did was hinder progress in pretty much every facet of the game.
Truth is theres various ways the career could have and should have been better. As it stands its just a mish mash of disjointed events. The fact that race cars and endurance races are also missing from career is nonsensical.
The biggest issue with career would be the ai because no matter the direction the career could have taken, the ai isnt fit for purpose. They truly are abysmal at everything but posting faster times. This game truly has one of the worat ai ive ever raced against.
An end game would be nice. But better than an end game, a beginning game would have been a nice part of the game.
Hard disagree. I prefer to have access to a variety of vehicles all the time, than go through a whole “more power = more better” alleged progression path. I like being able to switch from a GT3 to a hot hatch.
I think the problem ultimately is there needs to be more than 20 currated series.
I like the curated approach of FM23, I prefer that over the division approach of FM7. I like that there are events for a handpicked selection of cars. It is a good thing that there is a dedicated Foxbody event, because I would have never picked it otherwise, but there should maybe also be a Mustang event, and a classic muscle car event, and a old v new muscle event, and so on.
Each and every car should have been eligible for at least one event. I would even take the live service approach of adding more events over time to get there. But that’s not what we’re getting.
It’s missing a studio with developers than actually know what they are doing. Not an outsourcing hub packed with clueless interns & contractors which is what Turn10 is.
Say whatnow?
FM8 completely locks you in as you cannot progress without completing the last event, oh the memories of October 23 where you would go to tune your ride or upgrade it to the next class and the forever loading would brick the game and send you back 3 races.
At least with FM7 you had a selection of categories and did not need to complete them all to progress to the next lot, that and it took a long while to complete the campaign and then it opened up more.
The GAAS 6 week thing is more of a joke than the entire builders cup that lasted a week maybe two if you had the loading issues.
There should be a full builders cup every 6 weeks and a feeling like you are achieving something, remember in FM7 that bloke that said You did it and the other comments, just that alone makes you feel some sort of accomplishment
I believe all the tours were unlocked, but you could only start with the first series of each tour, to unlock the next one and so on. I would prefer if all series were unlocked from the start, or if there were a lot more tours.
That’s not what I was refering to there though. Each series is centered around a few select cars in FM23, as opposed to a whole in division FM7. I like that approach, though again the obvious problem with how it was implement is only a fifth of the cars are eligible to any career event.
And I mean, the idea of making a tour based on cylinder numbers, I think it’s a good and fun idea. But it’s a good and fun idea for a month, which is another glaring issue with the career.
Thats literally what i said, each division would have its own path. Its just some divisions share commonality with others so youd move through them starting from the oldest. Like prewar f1- 60s f1- 70s f1-80s f1- 90s f1. I wish they wouldve added gt4, gt2 and gt1 cars and that could have been a nice chain to go through.
