Yeah, I was surprised by that too. Even stock, I felt it was competitive and CC is my weakest category. Much more maneuverable than I expected and I thought it handled jumps quite well.

Always a great question OP. The SVO car pass mustang (the one with the turbo 4 cylinder) turned out to be great in A class dirt for me. Cut a few seconds off my lap times in dirt/CC in some cases. Surprised me.

I mostly only race online in B class road CA with purist builds, where I think there are not too many cars that are overused aside from the Civics, NSXs, S2000s, and Daytona. Here are some of my go-to picks lately:
RWD: Chevy Bel Air, Mazda RX-8, GT70 (snosaes tune), Charger Daytona, A110 '73 (JumpyArdvarkITA), Savanna RX-7 (Inayamei)
FWD: Escort RS Turbo (Ash46Desync), VW Corrado, Honda CR-X
AWD: Mazda 323 GT-R, RS2 Avant '95
These aren’t all necessarily strong/underrated, since I keep most everything purist I just take stronger or weaker picks based on the competition in the lobby. When I do go into A class on occasion, I often use the TVR Sagaris (ESV Mars tune) or Porsche 959 (K1Z Bard).

I notice you rarely if ever drive meta cars either in rivals. You always pick uncommon/unique cars yet you still manage to set some of the best times in the world.

I think alot of the muscle cars are underrated. I personally drive the 18 Demon, 67 Vette, 95 vette.

The Porsche Desert Flyer and Lancia Stratos Rally Cars. In this day and age all WRC Cars are front engined. There should be at least one mid-engined WRC Car.

Just upgraded an Abarth 595 '68 to 509 to do the first of the seasonal championships - 3 dirt races - in H4 (hope that’s close enough). Great little thing. Nothing fancy - supercharger and AWD in conversion, then all upgrades called “sport” apart from spring and tyres (rally). Full upgrade on the wheels (widest, thinnest, lightest, widest tracks). No tuning. I’m rubbish at these games but this made the championship really easy.
I am not sure if these fit your definition of underated/uncommon, but here are my most favorite cars overall:

It’s probably not underrated… But I love my Jaguar F-Type A class and I also quite like the Lexus LFA.
The newer Alpine in B Class and the Veloster in A class

The Volvo 850 is a fair car at A class level in dirt and even cross country. There was a fuss about that car just after launch due to its S2 top speed but I only rarely see it being used these days.
In fact, all the Volvos can be quite competitive on offroad-esque stuff.

Focus RS can be alot of fun with tune.
I’m partial to the RS, as I had a gen1 back in the day and loved it,
I had a neighbor that had 2 of the early Fiesta’s (early 80’s - same as the image). One orange, one lime green, both built the same. Pretty much stock except for a few handling goodies and some Mini-lite rims. Watching them zip up and down the street in them was a riot.

I’m not really sure about their value (I’m in the US) but I discovered them through Forza and felt they were under appreciated after I drove it!

Datsun 510 is awesome at B class dirt. Lots of IH Scouts in there, but I really dig the Datsun for great acceleration/launch while still having decent handling.

Agree, this was one of the few gems I discovered early on in the game. Great little car, although not meta.
Tried the Ford Capri RS 3100 not that long ago for the first time. Absolutely gorgeous to drive!
