You need to be winning just about every race to maintain a rating in the high 499Xs, especially if the other drivers aren’t quite as high.

I purpose stay on the B rating, because the lobby always gets a lot of people, on the S rating there are barely 10 people, while on the B rating there are 20+. 
I dont put a qualification and start from last place, this is totally fun watch people had some roll and i finish in top 5-3 without a penalty. 
And who cares about rating that dont see anybody except you in a game?

It’s all about winning against drivers with higher driver rating. I once for eg, did auto driver races just to drop my rating to 4800, then I won almost every single race, and quickly gained 4999, but I can imagine everyone that lost to me, had his rating lowered significantly even if they finished p2

Is it me or having only one penalty for contact instantly drops you from S safety rank ?
I’ve been at S for a long time, then lost it to a 2 seconds penalty for contact in only one race (a car ahead start spinning and I clipped his rear, pushing him). I mean, it’s fair, I could have anticipated better, but it takes serveral races to get to S but only one mistake can kick you off it. That’s pretty rought.

I haven’t done a ton of online, but I did do the Mustang 10 race stretch to complete the Challenge hub stuff.
I have literally just experienced the same sort of thing. I was on the outside. And was used for someone else to stay on the track. Pushing me off and giving me a ttp of 4seconds. Pi**ed would be an understatement.
I going for 5000.
