Were ABS and TCS meant to be toggles? And what is Boost?

When I switched to the digital Speedometer I saw on the side that ABS, TCS etc all have little lights, which seems to indicate that some thought was given to either to making them toggles via input binds
or perhaps even per car settings.

Certainly, in my fleet of cars, there are vehicles I’d prefer to have ABS, and perhaps even TCS on by default, and others, where they should be off. At the very least, it seems a poor player experience when these settings actively break the Drift cars ability to drift.

Given the HUD lights they look terribly like toggles were feature that was dropped - perhaps for the mundane reason that they were tied to ‘difficulty’ and allowing on the fly toggles would make it too hard for FH to figure out how to compute the actual difficulty the player was performing at. Easily fixed by making them part of a car’s tune rather than a toggle.

Which brings me to the strange number I see when I look at the telemetry: What on earth is Boost and how do I use it?

They aren’t toggles, they are to indicate whether they are activated, eg. if ABS is enabled in your settings and you brake hard, the ABS indicator in your HUD will light up. Same with the TCS and STM. If you enable them then the indicators appear on the analogue speedo as well.

Ah. Not having them enabled didn’t help.

Boost is from forced induction. Whether it be a stock car with a turbo or supercharger or you have added them as an upgrade. This isn’t a tuna-able item. It should be, especially for drag racing. The boost “guage” or number on telemetry is just to show how much boost or air is being pushed into the engine. Another thing that is all about throttle control. More throttle, more boost, more air being pushed, more power.

I would love for TCS at least to be a toggle-able option, though. I tend to have it on most of the time, but turn it off for Forzathon Lives, drift attempts, and sometimes lower class racing. And it sure slows the pacing down having to go hunting for it in the menu.

I’m not sure how they would do it, though, especially on console, since the controller layout is already pretty crowded.

Ditch Anna and we’ll have a free button for such feature.

She’s already been ditched for the telemetry.

Also, the number of times I’ve brought up the camera accidentally would disqualify “up” for the purpose.

The radio controls could use a revamp, though.

Photo-mode, radio next, and Camera … even that very expressive Quick Chat also seem… non critical to the driving experience.

PS. I don’t know what focus group at PG Games decided players were not permitted to go without these critical features, but when we’re forced to put these functions onto the unused axis on our LS and then use the XBOX Accessories editor to make a Forza profile that literally unbinds those inputs during normal play, all I can say is, Well done Playground Games Focus Group: Objective met!
