I can’t agree more, it’s ridiculous.

Thing is it didn’t used to be like this. Since playing from early access it was never this bad until 7/8 weeks ago. When was the Steam version released? 9th March or something like that.

Game is going worse since it launched at steam.

It seemed to break the month before Steam - probably when they implemented whatever was required to enable it.

Not 100% sure about PC Version but it started before (playing since jun/jul 20 and had always problems with mp)
Since playing on seriesx (11/20) there is no stable multiplayer (unranked adventures works/worked somewhat better)

Look at https://twitter.com/forza_support

(1 week until they acknowledged there is some issue + 1 week for fix)

Currently impossible to become a Horizon Superstar for over 2 months now so I can’t even complete the game as it stands  xD

Things started going wrong last March with the Worldwide lockdowns and lots more people playing…clearly they didn’t have the server capacity for that surge in demand. Though having said that I didn’t have too many issues until August with the whole Toredo PC mess (not PGGs fault) forced me to buy an Xbox to play online. Just seems to have steadily got worse and worse until the Steam release which just broke the oinline component completely…things have improved a bit since then but I suspect that is simply due to players getting fed up and not playing rather than PGG or Microsoft fixing things (I suspect that the whole online mess has not been investigated at all and they are simply ignoring it given the general apathy they have for the game)

Yeah probably the month before the steam release. They had a massive update which did nothing for the console players but the update was so large, we knew something was coming. The game wasnt perfect before but at least it was playable. This thing right now had me annoyed and at first I was mad but now I’m just disappointed.

Makes zero sense to wait til its almost 3 years old to release it on steam. Now I’m nervous about what the future titles will be like. Hopefully not this unstable!

I’m so fed up whit people blamming Steam launch for the infinite loading screen when this all started as far back as December after the Super7 update. Stop blamming other players for the incompetence/lack of communication of the devs

No one is blaming other players. However, the issues have clearly got much much worse shortly before the launch of steam. It’s entirely the fault of PGG for not properly testing (presumably through greed to get the extra cash) and/or not fixing the issues timeously.

I think its been great seeing Forzathon live full again and its cool to play cross platform. I am certainly not blaming Steam players but this game is getting sooo broken. I wonder how many new customers would buy and play if they knew it is currently impossible to become a Horizon Superstar unless you’ve already earned 2 million from businesses? Now the connectivity barely gives me confidence it will hold for 5 rounds of PGG and I’m missing out on prizes. VIP allegedly. xD

I’m certainly not blaming any Steam player for wanting to play this great game. I’m questioning the motives behind the release when it seems, for me personally, to have caused so much instability especially online. The Windows store game is superbly optimized on my AMD rig and available to all without a Steam release. As Jezza14 mentions above it’s purely down to greed. Forget the playerbase just keep the $s rolling in.

As it stands I will not be buying Forza Horizon 5, so I hope their attitude to fixing bugs changes.

I don’t know whether it’s pure luck or not, but I haven’t had a single problem in multiplayer - ranked adventure or the trial, since I forwarded the correct port for xbox live. If your nat status is open, though, this shouldn’t be the problem. I still have the teredo setting change that solved problems for a lot of people many months ago, I don’t know if that is playing a part.

I’ve actually had more joy by turning upnp off and getting a moderate nat. Tried everything like port forwarding. Thing is for me in UK it’s not too bad until about 5-6pm.

@PassionWagon69 They’ve basically been fixing there own self made bugs/ bad design since release. Probably why there is no FH5 yet. As it stands I will be buying FH5 Ultimate and taking my customary 2 weeks off work to play it, learning the courses and building my garage before I venture online. I just hope I just hope it’s not as disappointing as when FH4 released.

Yep that was my approach to FH3 and 4 but I’ll just take one week off and probably sleep 2 hours a night for those 7 days lol

Correct me if I’m wrong but you haven’t played ranked adventure much have you? I’d probably defer to those who’ve played hundreds or thousands of matches over those who play one a month.

In most of the time I’ve played, I had no issues. A few periods existed where I, and others, had issues. This was at Microsoft’s end, the fault of the game, not ours, just like it is again now.

I think you have convinced yourself that you and all of us have the ability to solve this serious problem by changing a router setting, and no amount of arguing or evidence will persuade you otherwise though.

After taking a break from Horizon 4 for about ~3 weeks I decided to give it a go this weekend but the current online issues kill every incentive to play.
Aside from the infinite loading screens my game closed itself 3 times (Xbox Series X) or the CA lobby got wiped so I found myself alone in a room.
Judging by the few CAs I had the nerves to do more than 50% had issues. Barely any fun was had. Back to The Crew 2 I guess.

Does the game use a different setup for ranked adventure compared to the trial? The way people have talked about it, you’d think it flat out doesn’t work. If you’re saying you get a disconnect 1 in 100 ranked adventures, sure, that’s pretty much all multiplayer games. I’ve only had two periods where I had problems. One was where many of us needed to change a Teredo setting. The other time the problem went away when I forwarded the port for Xbox Live. And I did say that if your NAT status is reporting as open, this isn’t your problem. It was mentioned above that moderate works better than open - mine actually reports as moderate, even with the port forwarded (and strict without it forwarded). Ultimately, if the game is using player to player networking, it’s not going to work unless at least one player has a port forwarded. If nobody has a port forwarded, it can’t work. If people do have a port forwarded, other problems may still exist.
