Weird bug experienced in League play, may exist in other Multiplayer lobbies

Hey everyone! I wanted to report a bug that has started to show up and becoming more prevalent for me lately. I have tried to google it, but nothing comes up for me. That said, here is what I am experiencing.

This has occurred at least 5 times for me now.

At the start of the race, after “Waiting for cars”, right at the very beginning of the session I’ll occasionally show up as if I’m in someone else’s car. My car is on the track however, wherever it is in the pack, but I have no control over it. Everything my HUD and FFB racing wheel register are for the car I’m in (being another player) including my steering wheel reacts to the inputs of the other player, but I can’t control the car. It’s almost like being booted into spectate mode but you’re a part of race and points are lost. I’ve worked hard to get to Pinnacle but the constant quits because the game is unplayable at that stage has cost quite a few points. I have checked for updates, restarted the computer, updated my video drivers but the issue still occurs. It’s not consistent and I can’t replicate it. Latency and connections to the internet are good as well.

I was lucky enough for a Turn10 Dev to be in a lobby with me the night it occurred the most (4 times in succession) so I was able to share with him my problem. That said, I’m also going to provide spec details in hopes that it will help to diagnose and resolve the issue. I have a feeling this has occurred for others as I saw a couple drivers that were in the lobby prior to start jump back into the same lobby after me when I quite and rejoined (there appeared to be only one lobby of Pinnacle last night 2/23/2018).

I’ve entered into ForzaRC for the first time ever, though this problem may affect my ability to compete lol

Specs

OS - Windows 10 Home 64bit
Forza 7 build version - ver. 1.119.6406.2
CPU - Intel i7 2600 CPU
Memory - 16GB DDR3
Video - nVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti (Driver version 390.77)
Disk - Samsung 512GB SSD
Controller - Thrustmaster TMX paired with TPA3-Pro and TH8a

This has only occurred to me since the current build of the game and no time before. This computer is an isolated rig, in that it’s only used for racing games and nothing else.

Here’s hoping Turn10 can find out what’s going on.

Cannot post DxDiag due to character limit

Same its quite frustrating, I get inside the race but camera is “binded” to another car.
I saw my car running and I could drive it “from the outside”, but the camera “showed me as an opponent and the opponent as my car”

Basically I see someone driving his car so I have to quit the race cause I cant see mines

Happened to me too

It’s like im spectating someone, but I can see my car and even control it.

I haven’t run into an instance where I can control another player’s car. Thinking back, I dunno that I’ve really tried either, too much shock and frustration lol

No I mean I can control my car, I see it on the track at the start of the race, usually I move out of the way.

One other thought has occurred to me about the nature of this particular bug. I wonder if it’s possible that this is an exploit of the netcode instead of a bug? Food for thought… being that the game is multi-platform, PC users have more tools at their disposal than an Xbox user would have.

Ah gotcha. Makes sense, I’m usually put in some way different car.

This happened two more times to me today…

It can be connected to spectate mode. I didn’t observe this issue before the february update.

Got this bug as well, I’m entering in the race but I end up spectating someone while being able to control my car. Almost a quarter of my multiplayer races are affected by this new bug. Sigh.

Bump. Would like to see some response from Turn10 as this is still an issue.

What response do you expect? For sure they know about it and are trying to fix this. Just wait for next patch.

Did you try contacting the turn 10 dev that was in that lobby from your initial post

Perhaps. I was hoping by getting this out here we might see a response or acknowledgement of the issue. Though I shared the link with the Dev to this forum post, it wasn’t considered reported before I mentioned it, or at least it was alluded at the time that the issue hadn’t been heard of before. Even I thought it was potentially an isolated problem on my end until others responded to this thread. At least I (and hopefully Turn10) recognize it’s “not just me”.

I’ll probably wait until next patch to start playing again anyways considering the unpredictability of the problem. Sucks because not only did I build a rig for the game but I also purchased the ultimate edition. Looks like Free Play is in my future until this is resolved lol

Just curious for those that have had the issue, are you wireless or hardwired to your router? I’m switching from wireless to hardwired, I will report my findings afterwards.

Also updating to video driver nVidia driver release 391.01 for my 1050Ti.

So hard wiring to my network didn’t help either. Just got put into someone else’s car after being first on grid order. I can confirm I could control my own car (the car I got put in was I believe 6th in grid order) but obviously this is pointless.

Turn10, is anyone investigating this at all? This effectively breaks competitive racing within the game for users like me. I’ve done all the troubleshooting I can at this point.
