Whose idea was it to put 10 cars in both lanes in the middle of drift zones. It is so hard to do anything in this game with out encountering multiple cars blocking both lanes. With normal race oriented cars its not the game’s largest problem, but when trying to drift its almost impossible because drift cars don’t have enough grip to weave through 13 cars. You have to wait for so long to do drift zones because of all the damn traffic.
For real! They really need to do something about this I cant even complete a drift zone anymore they need to add a feature to turn off traffic in drift zones.
Yup I agree, this is absurd. Definitely needs to be changed. We just need a “ghost” for traffic settings or just don’t let traffic enter drift zones. Simple as that. The traffic is ruining drifting for everyone.
i like the trafic makes the game feel alive, but the ability to maybe select no traffic would be cool.
Funny how there is almost no traffic to be seen in Online Freeroam while you are still eligible for not playing with other people necessarily. Example: the Airfield usually has 3 or 4 drivatars cruising the tarmac in Career; in Freeroam I saw only 1 car in 10 minutes or so.
Then again, I did not find the reasonable amount of traffic in this game to be cumbersome for progressing through the game while I did find that it seems that at night some parts of the map see even less traffic.
wtb slider for traffic
This would sort out those who want more and those who want less traffic.
And I can see validity in both sides of the argument.
yesterday was a good day. after driving in co-op for a couple of hours my friends had to go. and after I was alone and I guess you are put back to normal campaign by itself but the traffic and other drivatars were completely gone and I hade the whole map for myself. yeah you guessed right I did many of the drift zones before I went to bed and shutted down the game before the traffic comes back when I turn it back on lol… I guess it was a bug…
when I play with friends we often block the roads on each side of the drift zone to stop the traffic. note that drivatars don’t care and will crash right into the blockade. but the normal traffic will be on hold
Totally agree there is just too much traffic on the highways that doesn’t make for good speed development, especially when just cruising the highways and byways of the land down under. In FH2 traffic was nicely spaced to allow for good speed development and passing. But not so this game, as it seems the focus is to make things as congested as possible on the byways to avoid you scoring too many speed skill points! Hope this is fixed soon.
I have been trying to get three stars on the Byron Plains speed zone but every single time I have done a run there was a drivetar right in the middle of the road blocking the finish. I did it around 30 times, it ridiculous as there are no other drivetars for miles.
For me it’s not just that, with traffic online after a while they start to become laggy or even other people can’t see the traffic you are crashing into, madness!
It’d be nice if it was reduced a bit
Traffic is fine, adds some spice.
Also, traffic diminishes during nighttime. And if you want to change your game time to night, just join a night street race and quit immediately, you session will be in nighttime. There’s hardly any traffic then.
I’ve never liked the open world Drivatars since the first Horizon, and they seem more annoying than ever in Horizon 3. It’s incredibly aggravating to have one of those idiots come recklessly barreling around a corner, driving in your lane, and smash into you and ruin your Skill Chain or mess up a Speed Trap, Speed Zone, or Drift Zone run. I’ve even had Drivatars ram me off the road during a Drift Zone, thus causing me to fail. I would absolutely love an option to remove them from SP, or at the very least don’t allow them near Speed Zones or Drift Zones.
This is the first Horizon game where I’ve actually left the Rewind feature on as it’s invaluable. The amount of times I’ve had Drivatars just disregards my existence and ruin a good run is beyond count.

The roads are not wide enough too, most roads are only 2 lanes road, and only the highway has 4 lanes. It is so easy for the car to go off-road, and mess up a turn especially at high speeds.
The real problem is not the AI traffic, but the drivatars. I feel like a magnet. If I’m on the highway and I see them start to get heavy, I switch to the oncoming lane and then they start showing up there. Also they get heavier in speed zones and drift zones when activated. If you go around the start point so it doesn’t trigger it they are almost empty. Once you trigger it the traffic is crazy. Also if you turn around to make a second attempt it gets heavier. The longer you stay trying to master the stunt the worse the drivatar traffic gets.
I wish there was way MORE traffic. The whole point of having traffic is to make it life like, and everywhere I drive there are FAR MORE people on the road than this game.
Yes, I’ve lost my mind SO MANY TIMES trying to do these drift areas, but man . . . if it was so easy, what would be the point?? It has to be a challenge to keep you coming back otherwise you’re done the game in 2 days and whine about wanting more content.
If you don’t want traffic, go play Forza 6 or something? I wish games had way more traffic in them to be far more realistic. “MY CAR CAN’T DO 400MPH THIS GAME SUCKS” is getting so old.
Yes.
+100 for traffic spawn slider! Make it go from, “zero goes to insane cars” as in , no cars to . . . rush hour traffic =D
The new benchmark, “I can run Horizon 3 4K 60fps with rush hour traffic on!”
The drivatars are just doing the exact same thing that you are doing. Therefore since the world is supposed to be “living” and mimicking what it would be like if the actual drivers were there and not their drivatars it would not be unreasonable to think that they would be driving like madmen around town…just like you are.
