Volkswagen Golf R 2022 - Car Model Inaccuracies

Attached are screenshots of inaccuracies with the car model for the 2022 VW Golf R (MK8)

The front accent line that runs below the hood and through the top of the headlights should always be blue. As modeled, this feature changes with the body color of the car.

The rear exhaust tips should be oval shaped, similar to what is modeled on the “2021” Golf R (MK7.5). As modeled, they are round. Additionally on the rear end, the lens over the brake lights/turn signals should be clear. As modeled, they are red. The parking sensors should be body color, not black. This applies to the sensors on the front bumper too.

The light bar that runs between the headlights is on with DRLs in game, while in reality this is only illuminated while the headlights are on (I actually prefer it always on though so not bothered by this). Weirdly though, this is not true while in photo mode at the main menu garage. The taillights are also on with DRLs in game, which should be off unless the headlights are on. Finally, the headlights are missing illumination of the amber side marker,

There are several areas of the interior that have inaccurate textures and lighting. The faux carbon fiber bolsters on the seats should have a matte appearance, not gloss as modeled. This also applies to the steering wheel which should be completely matte leather, not gloss as modeled. All of the switches in the interior that are currently red (apart from the hazards and headlights) should have a white backlight when the headlights are on. Also, the “R” button on the steering wheel should be illuminated in blue, not white. The climate and volume controls below the infotainment screen are actually not illuminated in reality (seems unbelievable, but this is true. One of the biggest complaints among owners of this car.) Additionally, it would be neat if the interior ambient lights were added in game as seen in the attached image.

Finally, this is a minor detail, but the black plastic “fender extension” is missing over the rear wheels.

I agree with the interior LEDs; they give a different feel when driving at night. Although, in my opinion, the Golf R MK8, apart from these flaws, is very slow even though it’s stock in this version, being the manual version of the US. In the European version with DSG and its Matrix LED headlights, it looks much better. I hope that when they introduce the 8.5, it will be the European version. The exhaust, in theory, has the Akrapovic system, which is why it’s circular, although its sound is generic like that of the MK7R and MK7.5R.

I agree, it’s a bummer that the manual North American version was used since it’s much slower and lacks the nicer exhaust and taillights. It seems like the improvements in handling over the MK7 Golf R were missed as well. The car understeers just as horribly as the older model, which shouldn’t be the case since the AWD system now has rear torque vectoring and power can always be sent to the rear. The former Haldex AWD used in all previous Golf R generations had no torque vectoring and could only send power to the rear when the front is actively slipping.

Aside from that, on the track, for example, the 8R 20 Years managed to do the Nürburgring in 7:47. The normal 8R did it in 7:51 if I remember correctly. The 7R or 7.5R didn’t go below 8. But hey, I hope the 8.5R makes a difference because I had hype about the 8R because it was the first game to have it, and I was quite disappointed.
