I’m on PC and was wondering how voice chat works in this game? For example, Once I start the game with my mic plugged in, who all can hear me?
Can I communicate with people currently playing the Xbox version even though I’m the PC version?
Can I communicate with everyone currently roaming in my session on the map?
Can I communicate with people I race against?
Can I communicate with people who are in an Online Adventure with me?
Can I communicate with people participating in the Live Forzathon event?
Or will everyone just automatically hear my voice no matter what?
Please explain. Also is there a push to talk key we can assign and map to our mic in the game? I can’t find any option for that, or any other voice chat functionality for that matter.
Who exactly can I verbally speak to while playing this game and how do I do it?
Not sure about most of the questions but I’m on PC and play with Xbox friends, the way we talk together is by creating a Xbox party through the Xbox app on desktop.
I finally got around to making a support ticket about this today I’ve been facing the problem of having no in-game voice communication since the game’s launch on PC.
I have come across a few others that also suffer from this issue. so if you are hearing nothing in-game from other players you might also have this problem.
First I had played the previous Horizon 3 game, so yes game chat when working allows you to communicate with players on Xbox and PC without limitation,
as far as the second question in Horizon 3 voice chat was map/session wide, not proximity so you should be able to speak with everyone in the player listing.
Third… yes you should be able to communicate with players when in event lobbies I do not remember if voice chat was team specific.
Fourth same as above yes you should be able to communicate with them.
Fifth same as the first ruling as it is session wide voice communication you should be able to communicate with all players in and out of the event.
Push to talk and basic communication functions that PC gamers have come to expect of any multiplayer game launching in the last 10+ years are lacking and unsupported one can hope the devs click on this and patch it in asap
Medic Medulla thank you very much my friend much appreciated. Your answers are very helpful. Yes hopefully the devs will read this. As for issues of people not being able to hear me, or me hear them, I can’t say yet whether or not I experience the same issue, because I haven’t tried playing the game yet with my mic. I’ll try later today and if I experience the problem I’ll report back.
I too played Forza Horizon 3 on PC and had no issues talking to anyone on the xbox in-game. However, Horizon 4, I’ve not been able to talk to anyone. the game asked for permission to use my mic but that’s all I’ve gotten; I wasn’t even able to talk to the other people in my convoy. And Unfortunately I can’t use the xbox app to talk in a party because for some reason that doesn’t work for me (Discord and other voice clients do though).
As Medic Medulla said, a lot of people (me included) is having issues and can’t hear/speak players since game’s launch. I tried different configurations with no luck.
The best way to communicate with people is to do this through Xbox Party Chat but please submit a ticket with these questions and the support team will answer these and any further questions which you may have
For that reason games have disable voice chat and mute players features.
The game has voice chat but is broken, you can see a mic icon near each player in the playerlist of team adventures, they are investigating this issue but we havent news about the progress. Check this thread for more information:
no sense submitting a ticket on voice chat because it was left out of the game intentionally.
they replaced it with “quick chat” which is a terrible idea. oh wait, let me pull over choose a new quick chat so i can reply to someone else’s chat comment.
convoys should have voice chat, team adventure should have voice chat and even the forzathon live should have a voice chat.
I submitted a ticket on this issue 28 days ago as have many other players that have also posted the issue on here and I have yet to see a satisfactory response anywhere. All responses say they will look into it or to use Xbox app party chat but for a modern game to not have working voice chat for this long is a joke. It’s like you’re just playing against drivatars even when in Ranked Team Adventure where sure they’re real people but you can’t communicate with them in any way other than cheesy little quick chats. The Horizon multiplayer took a huge step back in this title in my opinion, which is sad because it was always so good before. I loved the class based points championships from previous games, why in the world would they remove that?! Now the only form of multiplayer is team adventures, where you can be in first by a mile but still lose thanks to your worthless teammates. The real players in your world is a good concept but I rarely see it actually used. Rarely do people start events for the server or join them, it’s mostly useless. The Horizon games are always so good and this one is too, that’s why it’s so frustrating for the multiplayer to be lacking so many things.
True, games without voice chat feels so dead to me. Everyone just says “nIcE cAr”, “hi” and “tHaNkS”. If there is a voice chat option, everyone would socialise even more and more people would meet and play together. The things we say are very limited. I hope they really add a voice chat feature soon. The game will then feel SOOO alive.
