Virtual Motorsports Long Beach Classic GP

Virtual Motorsports goes back in time to present to you their third special event of 2014 which will be an Endurance Race on Forza Motorsports 5. This Endurance Race will see 4 stints of racing which will approximately last one hour each. The Event is the Virtual Motorsports Long Beach Classic GP will head to the newly added Long Beach Full Circuit and will accept drivers of all skill levels to come compete as part of a two-man team which will share two stints each, as well as Privateer’s who wish to complete all 4 stints by themselves, which is no small feat! The event will take place with simulation damage and allow any assist configuration the participant wishes to use. This marks the first time in Virtual Motorsports’ history an open wheel car is to be used in an official event.

The Race is scheduled for Saturday 24th May at 12:00 CST / 18:00 BST. However all participants are required to Qualify beforehand. The Official Qualifying Session will take place on Saturday 17th May at 14:00 CST / 20:00 BST and will consist of a single 45 minute session. Additional Qualifying sessions will be hosted throughout the week between the Official Qualifying Session & The Race but will close Friday 23rd May at Midning UK Time (BST). The Long Beach Classic GP will consist of 4 stints, each consisting of 46 laps. Stint 1 will have the grid set to Qualifying Result order, which means a pace lap will be used to setup the grid and rolling start. For stints 2, 3 and 4, the starting order will be the finishing order of the previous stints’ race of all the lobby’s together. The Car selected for this event is the #11 McLaren M23 Classic Formula 1 Car from 1976, as made famous by James Hunt.

Working alongside Turn 10, the event is officially sponsored and will feature DLC, in-game credits and 3 special Forza 5 Bumper Stickers to be won by the drivers. Those skilled, or lucky enough to finish in the top 10 of the Privateer’s Classification will earn themselves a share of the credits available, with the overall winner of the Classification also gaining a Forza 5 DLC pack of their choice too. Not only that, the top 5 in the Teams Classification will receive a share of the credits, with the winners in each receiving a choice of their Forza 5 DLC pack. In addition, for all drivers that complete the distance, a random draw will take place to determine who receives either a 500,000cr Bonus or one of 3 Forza 5 Bumper Stickers, which can be mailed anywhere in the World, so don’t worry about prize eligibility!

For this special event, there will be 2 Championships to contest in for the Long Beach Classic GP. There will be one classification for the Teams to compete in, which has all 4 stints total race time added together, for which one driver will drive 2 stints, and the other 2 stints completed by his teamate. The other Championship will be for the Privateer’s who choose to brave all four stints themselves, and therefore carry over their own 4 x total race times to make their final classification time.

This is a special event at Virtual Motorsports that has been setup after the release of Long Beach to Forza 5 and many of the community members wanting us to do something with the open wheel racecars in Forza 5. This Endurance spin off event targets a step back in time to Long Beach when the Formula 1 cars of 40 years ago battled ferociously around street circuits. You are not required to have a teamate, but it will help a lot as 4 stints of 46 laps around Long Beach can be pretty intense even for the most decorated Forza veteran. You may sign up to this event at any time but Sign Ups will close the day before the event commences, so get your information in early!
