Upgrading and tuning inside Rivals mode, plus rolling start

Pretty sure the message that a flying lap will be faster at the start of rivals is Turn10 trolling us.

We roll start for practice and qualifying. Not for rivals.

We can tune mid-event in practice. Not in rivals.

Want to change upgrades? Exit rivals, go to “Upgrade and Tune”, there’s no snapping to the car you are in. Just a clumsy scroll a 2-layer menu for potentially 500 cars (that’s a lot of scroll for the t-z cars) …

Tune/Upgrade swap.

Back to Rivals.

I will work for free, Turn 10.

I have played racing games since we put quarters in arcade machines.
Every car I have owned since the first has been a petrol-head bucketlist car.

Whilst I agree the fact that you can’t tune in the event is unhelpful, you don’t need to go all the way back to the upgrades menu to tune.

If you exit the session and select “race next rival” then you will be in the same car with an option to amend your build/tune before starting your next series of laps.

I feel like it might be nice if you could drive into the pits and have an option to take the car into garage, where you then have options to change the build etc. Seems like a missed opportunity for cute realism.

I select skip lap immediately to get a rolling start, but I guess their thinking might have been to give you a lap to warm tyres, get a feel for braking points etc. I’d rather have the rolling start though tbh.
