Unicorn Cars

I really wish they would have kept unicorns. To me I think it was so many people whining they couldn’t get the car they wanted because it was a unicorn. It just gives you a reason to push yourself harder to earn them. I think it was a great fun part of Forza after beating the games it made a it a great thing to prolong playing the game

Forza,

T10- I love your games, but you got me questioning these things as a dedicated Forza fan and owner of F3, F4, FHorizon, F5:

a) No more unicorn cars… this was special and connected the gamer to t10 and the community (I became a fan after my first unicorn)
b) Cars from F4 are now DLC in F5. (so if you owned F4 and were VIP like me, you really feel like t10 doesn’t care about you unless your willing to purchase DLC that you already experienced in the older version of the game… at least then it was free!) Now it’s just old and cost money.

That’s like going to a rec center for months and using their water fountains regularly. After a renovation to the place, you come back expecting better but you find out you have to pay every time you want to drink. Get my point? It makes you feel like your not apart of the community anymore and its just another game.

As a fan, I’ll respect your decision of no unicorns and recycled content, (even though I completely do not agree) but I seriously hope you guys got plans to strengthen your community. From my view, it’s as if you know exactly what your doing, and your purposely bringing down your fan base… which defeats the purpose of T10

I didn’t mind the concept of Unicorns as I’ve owned multiple sets of all of them since back when it all started back in FM2

I wish they would have kept them it pro longs the fun for the game a lot longer because it’s a challenge to catch em all lol I’ve caught all of them so far. I hope they bring them back but who knows. I’ll still love these games for the racing

I don’t understand why they removed them. I would like to see them return.

probably people were complaining about them though to fair Forza 4 had 17 Unicorns which once Turn 10 stops giving them out will like all the other Forza games will make those cars legally impossible to obtain by any means unless they obtained the cars when Turn 10 was gifting them out.

Personally I think if they kept it to Just around 3 or so alt versions of Regular cars in the game then I would totally be ok with having them make a return. I think 17 was way too many not that I had any problem collecting them

I’ve always been a bit on the fence concerning Unicorns in prior Forza games. Like Timberwolf above, I think that 17 in F4 was too many, especially for casual players, and that helped cause the complaints. To be fair though, there have been complaints about unicorns since their first appearance.

What I liked about Unicorns: The ability to receive something in-game for participating community events. I do think that Unicorns contributed to the development of the Forza community.

What I hated about Unicorns: Having car models in the game that I could never own or drive. I did eventually have 16 of 17 before leaving F4 for F5, with multiple duplicates, but especially as I never managed a play with developers, it was a slog to get some of them.

What I think might work in their place (return):
Rather than have car models that are not available except as unicorns, I would rather see T10 create a set of painted/ tuned cars that (the base car model) is otherwise available in the game. That the bounty hunter challenges draw interest in specially painted cars shows me that this might be a good compromise between the reward/ availability paradox. This would let them start with a small number of Uunicorns, and even create a “new” unicorn whenever a DLC car pack is released if it is found that there is community interest. These would be available through community events, challenges, and other methods as they were in F4. You could always paint/ tune a replica if there was one you couldn’t get gifted to you.

Another compromise that might work if there was a return to unicorn only car models would be to have any unicorn cars available for “rent” in free play, but you could only own them for career or multiplayer by having T10 gift one to you.

I agree on the pros and cons of the unicorns and don’t know what a suitable solution would be, I like them and hated them at the same time. You “livery” idea was actually the original unicorns from FM2 though, and not sure it was any better (although meant that we didn’t miss out on some cars as a result).

Well yes and no in FM2 there were quite afew Liveried Version Unicorn cars that were painted by members of the community then there were the LCE cars wich also got painted versions too (The Major Nelson S281 E as an example) but they were mostly still on Unicorn cars on FM2

I do like the the livery and tune which the Bounty hunter has done (The Ferrari you guys won for beating me has my tune on it)

I thought I would miss them but I haven’t. I like being able to buy as many copies of each car as I want.

I don’t really miss the Unicorn cars too much. It really puts the hackers out of business. I just wonder if the gifting cars between players could be brought back. In FM4, one of my friends and I kept trading his AE86back and forth, each time adding a random vinyl to the car. It got to look pretty ridiculous, to tell the truth. Good times.

With me, I don’t really miss cars like the 69 Camaro as a Unicorn. What should be is modified versions of cars in Forza, that if you were good at tuning you might be able to closely recreate, but not exactly.

Exs:
Toyota Supra Top Secret (it was in FM4 and worked as it already had the regular Supra and you could closely attempt to replicate it if desired)
Nissan Skyline Top Secret (FM4)
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Hennessey Edition
Chevrolet Corvette C5 Callaway
Dodge Challenger 392 (bring back the regular version and make the 392 a Unicorn)
SRT Viper T/A (track edition of the Viper, the one that is orange)
Ferrari 360 Challenge (bring the regular Modena back and make the Challenge Unicorn again)

I could go on. But don’t make cars that don’t offer a regular version of themselves in the game already. Make them rare (in real life and in Forza) supertuned versions of that car that already have a more normalized version in Forza. This way you get the regular version to play with and a tuned version as an incentive that you couldn’t recreate exactly, but if you wanted to you could get a tuned version to be equal or close to it, or even better.

I like the idea of Unicorn cars, however as previously stated I also think that any Unicorn type car should also be available as a regular purchase by anyone.
For example, A Chevy Camaro ZL1 (regular) but a Chevy Camaro ZL1 Hennessey for the Unicorn.
The difference? A special livery for the Unicorn and tuned by Turn 10. It doesn’t take much.

Why Unicorn? Because most people look for some form of compensation when they do something special, like participate on the forums, or even provide lists of glitches etc…I’m sitting on several glitches I’ve found but I’m waiting for the Unicorn ‘present’ for my diligence before I post the glitches. Till then, I sorta have my own version of a Unicorn; with a slight glitch that most others don’t have =P
