Understanding what cars for what class

Hey everyone, new to the forums and Forza in general, I’m here today trying to get a better understanding about what type of cars belong in what classes when they become modded how does that effect them and how far should a certain type of car go.

My Silvia is currently S2 927 and is AWD with 748hp and 565ft-lb of torque, weighing in at 2700lbs. Have I pushed this car far past its limits?

I’ve been trying the street races and they’ve been difficult as I keep being pitting against super/hypercars. These cars have crazy speed and can take the corners very tight and have insane acceleration. Not that my car is a slouch, its acceleration is at 9.9 with like 2sec 1-60 and 230mph top speed but these cars move like I’m standing still. But with my cars handling being at 7.8, I lose traction more often where these cars stick to the ground like glue.

My car seems to be handling like a boat against these types of cars even though I’ve tried to negate under/oversteer as much as possible without making everything unstable. I’m still new to tuning but I think I’m getting a general understanding on it especially after reading a few guides that break it down for you in a more simple manor.

I’d prefer not to race super/hypercars and would rather be racing against more normal cars like my Silvia or RS4s M3s Mustangs Evos Skylines Benz Honda/Acura Mazdas etc… What’s the best way to go about doing this? What classes should these types of cars be in? I’d like more street racing type of experience where they’re not full race cars, I don’t need to be going 200mph+. I recently made a class A RX8 and really like the feel of it, is this the class I want to stay in?

I would love to get the RX7 at some point so completing the street races is something I would like to be able to do. Since I don’t know anyone who can help me out I’m stuck doing it the regular way.

Sorry if this isn’t the correct place to post this

Thanks

In a way… yes you have pushed your car too far. It’s not so simple to explain though why though. There are a lot of things that factor into why you’re having issues.

When you put your car into the second highest class, you’re going to go against cars that are naturally made for that class. Skill also makes that car more tedious to drive in that class. I’m not saying you lack skill but that taking a car made for lower class races and pushing it to that extreme means you have a lot more to deal with when driving it. The entire design of the car goes into the class it’s racing in and despite how many upgrades you make your a car, you will still be at a disadvantage when going against cars specifically built for that kind of power, handling, and speed.

You also have to take into consideration just how your car is built when you are adding upgrades. Always have a plan in place for how you intend to race that car, then build it to those strengths. When you have put in what you need then add power to fill in the rating to its max.

A car built for handling will lose on straights. A car built for speed will lose on curves. A car built for dirt will lose on pavement.

Generally I won’t push a car 2 classes above stock. For the Silvia chances are I’d max it at B, maybe A ig I can put wide tires on it. Tires are the big deciding factor, that and body shape. The game give cars default down force ratings, wedge shaped cars have more natural down force and makes them better for higher classes. Something like the Silvia is likely max’d out in B maybe A.

2 classes above stock max for me is the typical limit

1 maybe 2 class bump based on initial rating for me. Been doing tunes for a while and always find it best to ensure that if a car is rated 517 to start for example its probably best to keep it in its class or bump it up 1. However if it was 580 to start that’s when I might bump it up 2. The only time you want to max out a vehicle is when it will not race other then going to car meets for drag racing. This is just my personal feelings on the subject though, and how I prefer to tune, not to gloat but I win a lot with my tunes online so I at least can back up my statements on the matter at hand
