not exactly sure if this is the right place (I didn’t find a “your custom routes to share” thread), but I have been tinkering with the custom routes a bit and tried to create some races that are very different from the regular racing 101 that many courses ingame provide. And even though they’re not perfect, my friends and me had a lot of fun trying them out a few days ago, so I thought I might share them with you?The goal was to create routes over new and seldom used pieces of the (main) map - not so much classic “races” as such, but fun and challenging experiences. I generally drive without the brake lines on, which would probably make both tracks a lot easier (As it is easier to see where to go). Turn it on or off on your own liking, I’d recommend off for more confusion .
The first one is a crazy race through the streets of Edinburgh, the scenario in my head was a wild “cops chase bad guys” Hollywood drama, where the cars have to bob and weave through different sections, make hard turns around every corner and basically play hare in the city. You only have to imagine the cops putting up barriers before most of the corners
Route is most fun with well-handling street cars around S2 or S1, although I left it at “everything goes” for you to play around with. Share code:
117 634 546
The second one is a wild woods adventure trail - basically the idea was to go in and around the woods with a rally car, mostly on trails that weren’t exactly planned for cars anyways! Time to get dirty!
In this one, at some tight corners the checkpoints are very hard to spot, so you have to watch the minimap as well. Bring your map and compass! And most of the time the CPU goes buckwild on this course, so it is best played with (human) friends. But then again, we had a really great laugh with some of the CPU-drivers really crazily flying around at some spots. But beware, definitely not an easy track!
For me, this route was most fun with A800 Rallye cars, and I think I set it to Retro Rallye cars by accident (as I drove an Audi Quattro while creating it). Share code:
513 494 254
If you like my routes, I’d be happy about feedback. I am currently working on a few new ones (though they still need tinkering, one is somehow bugged and always tells me to turn around, although I don’t need to), and if you enjoy the first ones, I can definenitely share the new ones as well. It just feels to be too much effort jsut for a few fun races within my (small) gaming group.
Heh, just tried both routes. Good stuff. Great checkpoint placement! That’s usually lacking in a lot of routes I try.
I have my own custom route thread a few slots down from yours, in the racers lounge. So, you have the right place. No worries.
One thing I will say…and I’ve mentioned it to a few others…slow down when making your route. I noticed your racing line going all over the place in some spots. This is fine if you’re just racing with friends but if your trying to rank up (star card included), others trying your route will race against drivatars. If drivatars go all over the place and get stuck, the user will also get stuck, get frustrated and quit. Drivatars will follow your line %99 of the time. Just an FYI.
I’ve made at least 12 routes in Edinburgh myself. I have over 50 Edinburgh route share codes on my phone now (mine and others) so it’s a well used area, for sure. Lol
Thanks for your comment! See, that is something that I didn’t know yet (that they follow my route). I will make sure to watch that on my next tries, although I actually do slow down quite a bit when creating routes, as you need to turn around a lot sharper to set clear waypoints
But it’s always good to learn new stuff, thanks!
Just looked at my history for blueprints. I noticed that no one else tried them. They’re pretty good all.
Hopefully this slightly slow part of the forum will get you some more attention. I believe that people who make the time and effort to make these routes (proper routes and not quick cash ones), deserve to be rewarded with some uses/plays.
I’m all for helpful blueprints (to help with skills, etc.) but we need more workers who actually care about their routes. Lol. More this feature gets used, the more likely we’ll see improvements down the line, hopefully.
Today, I come to you with one more route (and two different blueprints for it). This time, we’re going on a mountain hike to see the Lady of the Lake! Pack your best walking sticks and terrain tires, as you’ll need them! We will go up and down Glen Rannoch Mountain. Lots of rough terrain and steep slopes lie ahead and more than once, you’ll have to control a car that not only has to go up or down, but also around some sharp corners
As always: I recommend without brake lines and except for ABS, all stability controls off for the most enjoyable experience. Do pay attention to the minimap as well, as some checkpoints are a bit tricky to spot when going up and down
The first share code is the intended way to play the route - with rallye cars (nearly all allowed), around 800-900 is recommended:
965 067 671
The second share code is the same route, but put into hardcore mode - now, instead of going up on a sunny day, suddenly you’ll find yourself at night, in a raging blizzard of snow. Here, I also left out all restrictions in terms of cars - we tried with S2 Hyper-Street-Cars one day, and that was a ton of fun (mostly because the cars do a lot, but not what you tell them )

I am already working on some new routes, although the last one I created (which I am otherwise really happy with!) suffers from a stupid bug. It keeps telling drivers to turn around because of a missed checkpoint, although you never really missed one. If you go fast enough and hit the next checkpoint, you can continue normally, but it’s still very frustrating because I can’t really figure out why
If anyone knows this bug and has a workaround, I’d be happy to listen. So far, I tried changing the placement of said checkpoints, but the bug appears anyways, sometimes shifted to another place.
It’s also making the AI useless, as they seem to ignore it at first, but then, somewhere later down the race, they just stop randomly and just stand there. And it is a (mostly) street race!
Just raced your new cross country routes. Good stuff! I love me some cross country. One thing I will say, is that you should make your checkpoints wider at the bottom of jumps, especially after going over rocks, as the landing is unpredictable at times. This can prevent multiple rewinds due to missing the landing.
As for your missed checkpoint bug, this happens when you do loops and place two different checkpoints to close to each other (like you did with your CC route I just played). Make sure checkpoints don’t cross or get to close. This will confuse drivatars and potentially glitch out your route because of the missed checkpoint message.
