Toastling2534's Blueprint Routes

Hey, hi, hello. I’m Toast, and I like creating custom routes.

I haven’t been able to set aside the time to learn the ins and outs of the more advanced course editing features such as obstacles, walls, and the like, so these are all pretty basic point-to-point Street Scene reminiscent circuits and sprints, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less fun.

Some of them are fairly long - I’m a fan of long circuits, and find all of the game’s built-in races to be far too short - while others are short and sweet and others still are simply built for maximum speed or maximum fun. I’ve made quite a few of these over the past year, and I thought it was about time I formally shared them with the community!

If you use the driving line, you’ll be able to see pretty easily which courses were my first stabs at route building based on some of the weird paths that are taken and the dearth of checkpoints from back when I didn’t entirely know how test drives worked. But, even these early courses are still pretty fun, and as they’re long, they can net you a lot of skill points in just one run. Speedhoven in particular, in a 200mph+ car, should get you at least 20 skill points per race.

I’ll edit this first post with a list of courses and a hyperlink to their specific post as I go, but each course will have its own dedicated post in this thread. I’ll be sure to update as I make more, and especially if I go through with finally learning the course editor and crafting more complex versions of my favorites.

Northline

My very first custom route, Northline is the first in a series of five races themed around specific sections of the map. Northline covers, as its name would suggest, the northern portion of the map, and is designed as a sprint race. It covers a lot of tarmac around the valley and Guanajuato, and is mid-sized as far as my races tend to go. I haven’t driven this one in quite some time, as I now have a sequel circuit I race instead, but I would be remiss not to include babby’s first road course.

Eastern Pass

RETRO SUPERCAR VERSION

ANYTHING GOES VERSION

The second in a series of five races, Eastern Pass comprises a good chunk of the eastern part of the Horizon Mexico map, running along the coast, the jungle, and around the highway. This is a simpler course than the one that preceded it, and is much faster given its more gentle, sweeping turns. It’s still a common race in my personal circuit rotation, but it doesn’t earn as many points as some of my other courses do.

This race typically takes me around 6 minutes to lap in S1 class.

Southside

The third in a series of five races, Southside is perhaps my most popular creation, comprising of the majority of the most southern portion of the map. My first real monster of a course, this grueling night circuit takes you through the jungle and along the coast in what ranges anywhere from a 9 to 11 minute per lap ordeal. I’ve actually seen a version or two of this course of mine created by other players with more or less laps than this one, but this is the original and the version I both have access to and regularly play. It’s great for racking up skill points.

Westview

MODERN SUPERCAR VERSION

ANYTHING GOES VERSION

The fourth in a series of five races, Westview is comprised of the majority of the western half of the map and loops around the mountain. Like Eastern Pass, Westview is a fast circuit, but it’s a bit more challenging than it seems just looking at the route on the map, with quite a few sharp, unexpected turns and a sudden hairpin in the second half. There’s also a shortcut baked into this one that’s not too difficult to figure out. This is one of my favorite places to take new tunes out for a test drive.

Centralia

The fifth and final route in a five route series, Centralia covers the center of the map, mostly areas left untouched by Northline, Southside, Eastern Pass, and Westview. This is perhaps the most balanced of the five Sector Routes, having both technical sections and speedy passages, and has the most varied surroundings given the roads it covers. I haven’t made an Anything Goes version of this course yet, but if people enjoy it, I probably will.

Speedhoven

Base Course: Los Jardines Circuit

Open Version

Extreme Track Toys Version:

This is the best course I have for farming skill points and is designed for maximum speed at all times. I wouldn’t recommend coming here with any car that does less than 201mph for the best results. This is a great track to calibrate your high speed tunes on and see how stable you are taking turns at high speeds.

Laps are around 9 minutes each.

Hill of Frogs

Base Course: Bola Ocho Circuit

Did you know Guanajuato means “Hill of Frogs”? Now you do! This is a brief, technical, city circuit comprised half of the city’s outskirts and half of its northernmost streets. The heart of the city is left untouched in this course.

Each lap should take around 2 and a half minutes.

Sunset Sands

Base Course: Baja California Trail

Open Version

Modern Rally Version

My first dirt course! A challenging, technical, mid-length circuit featuring a tricky blind jump near the start and several sharp, sudden turns. In my opinion this is one of the most difficult tracks I’ve created. It’s pretty fun once you know the layout, though.
