[Tutorial] How to import designs and layer groups from Windows Store version to Steam Version

Hello all,
I’m not sure if this section is the correct one for a tutorial kind of post.
I’m also not sure if this is widely known already. At last I didn’t find a answer anywhere for it.

Information:
The Steam savegame of FH4 is completly separated from your Xbox / Windows store savegame. You can not overwrite one with the other’s progress.

What do you need to transfer designs:
A. Have the game playable on steam as well as on windows store or xbox.
B. You want to use the very same Xbox account on both version.
C. The savegame in both games need to be progressed far enoght that you can enter your ‘garage’

Short version:

  1. Share your design on the Windows store / Xbox version.
  2. On the steam version you search for your own designs by entering your account name for ‘creator’
  3. The downloaded designs can not only be used on steam from you. But also be modficated.

Detailed version:

  1. Run the Windows Store Version / Xbox One version of your FH4.

  2. Go in your garage to “Design & Paints” then to “My Designs”

  3. Select the design you want to transfer and “share” it.

  4. Repeat 3. until you shared all the designs you want to transfer to your steam savegame.

  5. Switch to the steam version of the game next.

  6. Go in your garage to “Designs and Paints” then select “Find new Designs”.

  7. Open “Search” and enter for “Creator” the name of your account you use to play the game with on both versions.

  8. Run search, you should get a search result of all the designs you shared in step 3.

  9. Select the design and download it.

The design is now downloaded to your “My Design”. When you apply it to a car and enter “Apply Vinyls and Decals”
you will notice that you are still allowed to work on it. Aka. the design is NOT locked.

Point of interest:

  • To my suprice the design is not locked on the steam version.
  • I can confirm you can transport your Vinyl Groups to steam using this ‘share’ techninque as well.
  • I belive you could use this for car tunes as well.
  • I belive this techinque will work for FH 5 as well.
  • I belive that you could share files from Steam back to Windows Store / XBox one version.
  • This maybe even works for shared photos, but I’m not sure on this.

Hopeful this information is helpful to someone else, and that playground games does not change the behaviour in the future.
