Sr. Business Manager - Turn 10 Studios
Microsoftâs Turn 10 Studios, the developer and creator of the Forza video game franchise on Xbox and PC including the award-winning Forza Motorsport titles and the Forza Horizon open world action racer, is looking for an experienced Sr Business Manager to join the Business Management team. The Business Management team is responsible for covering a wide range of business tasks in support of the Studio. The team is responsible for cost management, improving business processes, negotiating, and managing supplier and partner contracts and payments, managing publishing relationships, modeling new business opportunities, and setting budgets.
We are looking for a Sr Business Manager who is well-organized and possesses the ability to multi-task and bring solutions to daily business operations of the studio. The ideal candidate will bring their business experience to bear on business processes and reporting that keep the studio running effectively.
Responsibilities
Role Duties
This individual will assist on a range of business issues, monthly rhythm of business, reporting studio expenses, and assisting with the planning and reporting regarding Studio staff. Specific duties fulfilled by the role will include classifying and reporting expenses and budgets, tracking and reporting headcount, keeping an accurate record of studio staffing, and assisting with supplier invoices.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Producers and business partners to provide first-line business management and guidance.
- Own the financial, expense and headcount reporting for the Product and identify/implement process improvements for more efficient reporting in partnership with Business Group leadership.
- Assist with monthly business rhythms including results discussions, reviews, and reporting with studio leadership.
- Partner across the Studio and Product teams on long range planning.
- Assist with structuring contractual agreements to help the Product/Studio achieve their outsourced needs.
- Work with greater business teams to design, update, and upgrade business models for existing and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with central finance team on monthly financial close, revenue & expense reporting, and headcount management reporting.
- Partner with multi-functional support groups including A/P, royalty accounting, marketing, and finance on various operational aspects of supporting the Product.
- Partner across Studio and Business Team to allow for seamless invoice and payment approvals.
- Improve processes and reporting for the Business Team, that improve efficiency by working with the Business Management, Studio Operations, and Contractor Hub teams.
Qualifications
The candidate will be adept at managing operations related to Studio rhythm of business. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively across groups (legal, finance, business administration, production) to close issues as they arise.
Additionally, the candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, set priorities, and operate to strict deadlines. Candidates must possess mature and practical business judgment in the necessary areas, financial analysis skills, written and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving.
Required Skills:
- 5 yearsâ experience required, preferably in financial analysis or business management / operations.
- Experience managing P&Ls and costs within a world-class organization.
- Must have experience with managing expenses, providing financial reporting, tracking headcount, and procurement processes.
- Superior communication skills, including an ability to collaboratively empathize & partner with stakeholders directly and within a functional matrix.
- Experience with financial modeling in a game development, technology, entertainment, and / or publishing business.
- Ability to drive change and improve key business processes and financial models.
- BA/BS in fields such as finance, business, or marketing.
- Gaming and / or entertainment experience preferred, but not required.
Preferred Skills that the candidate would demonstrate:
- Experience with Microsoft financial systems a plus.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Passion for games, though that is not required.
- Experience supporting computer, video and/or online game software development, or other consumer entertainment products and services.
