As you know by now, I will be participating in the inaugural Forza Invitational a little over a week from now.
Obviously, competing with the best racers of the community won’t be an easy task which is why I need your help. A great tune will give me a far better chance to be competitive.
So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tune the best A class 2005 Honda NSX-R you know how to for running on Sebring. I will be testing out as many tunes as I can as I run the qualifier this week myself and choosing my favorite to race in by the end of the week.
Once you have a tune you’re ready to submit, just share it with the keyword VoodooTune and I’ll try to find it. Post on here when you do as well so I can search by gamertag if I need to.
Fred has volunteered to paint the car I’ll be running, so I will ask him to include the gamertag of the tuner whose setup I end up running in the race.
Thank you very much in advance for your help!
P.S.
I drive with a Thrustmaster steering wheel, ABS/TCS/STM off, and normal steering. I prefer neutral to slight oversteer over understeer.
This looks like a good challenge. I will set one up, and let u know when it’s available. But DTMlionel78 has a pretty good tune now! I hope I spelled the gt correct. If not sorry
Thanks for the tip! I downloaded that tune and posted my current time with it. I’m far off the pace, but I’ll be putting in more time throughout the week to shake off the rust and try to get up the ranks a bit.
Good luck Voodoo! If I could tune race cars on FM5 I would gladly provide you with one to match your almighty racing needs, i’ll need a little practice first
I’ll try and get a tune out for this. I’m kinda disappointed that it’s not bone stock to bring out driving skill a bit more than car ability. Regardless, I’ll definitely have something up within the next couple days that’ll be competitive.
+1 on the tune(s) from both of these tuners but I still haven’t broken 2:10.
I’m a SIM steerer on the controller so I’m not sure how mine are going to work on the wheel but I’m in with a tipple pack.
VoooDoo I - My first and still favorite, scarily similar build to Raceboy’s but I opted to ditch the front wing for a little more power.
VooDoo II - An attempt at some race day consistency. It still needs a little refinement but it did swoop in for that extra 0.1 sec to hold my current LB time. Naturally aspirated and surprising me with its’ ability to keep up by leaning on that sport rubber. EDIT - now down into the 2:09’s
VooDoo POISON - A power build that I know someone can “get right” but I just seem to get it “WRONG”. Technically the front tires still let go first (understeer side of neutral) but it is just too easy to drive it into oversteer with throttle for me to get a good lap out of it. I’m certain the drivers are out there so I’ll leave it up. It also makes for a good training car - I allways pick up time once I get out of it and back into one of the other cars.
All three are setup with my preferences for Caster = 6.2 and Brake Pressure = 135.
Off to go find those extra 8 seconds - Enjoy,
Crash
It might be too late for the first invitational but it shouldn’t be too difficult to add specifications/restrictions on the build like max hp, max weight, drive type, etc… In theory the cars would be closer in performance as far as the build is concerned with the only differences being the tune and the driver. I’m not a tuner but would having a smaller box to work from be more of a challenge for the tuning community?
This is the first in what I hope to be a series of Invitationals so options will change from event to event and will kind of be based off the groups expertise, Invitationals will not always be the top-tier skilled racers.
I have managed to get myself back into FM5 this week after sitting it on the shelf shortly after release, very happy to see this event to warm up! I very much enjoyed the Made For Mech series (awesome name to whoever came up with it LOL and tuning for the final round in the Hyundai HLC back in FM4 so this should be great too.
The NSX is my favourite car and has been so since I got bitten by the car bug as a very young boy…the sad thing is in several iterations of FM I have never been able to tune one the way I liked!
So here we go, will give a crack on this probably Monday night and see if I can make one that works
Why is this game not showing my times on the leaderboard? It just denied like 10 times today, and this becomes so annoying after hours of training that ragequit is kinda the only possibility. Does someone have an idea why it does that?
I have a tune that needs a little bit more tweaking and then I’ll share it for you Voodoo. I ran a couple laps in the challenge until I felt the car was good and got a clean time but I don’t think I’ll do much more.
If you want to pass on the masochism of trying to keep one of the 700+hp stock tired tunes on the track, I’ve shared my full grip build tune.
It will easily put down 2:07s lap after lap without TCS.
Tuned with the Thrustmaster TX set to 540 DOR.
Quick update:
I’ve run a little bit (albeit with a gamepad) over the weekend. My best time so far was posted with DTM Lionel’s v2 tune, but then I tried RaceBoy’s and I like it a lot. I haven’t beat my time with it just yet but it did feel a little bit easier to drive. Still had a fair amount of turn-in bite without being too twitchy.
Later today I will be running with the wheel (I’m generally better with the wheel) and I’ll try all the other tunes you guys have posted and post feedback. I will definitely keep an eye towards race day consistency, even if it comes at the cost of a few tenths of outright pace.
Just tried a couple more tunes. To be honest, a lot of the ~700hp tunes feel similar and you have to dig pretty deep to find the subtle differences.
I tried turning on TCS to see if it would make a difference and it does. Ran a bunch of low 2.06.xx then a 2.05.8xx which unfortunately I think didn’t post when I got disconnected. I ran the 2.05 in Raceboy’s tune.
I may never understand how some of you run 2.03.xx!
I’m calling it done for the night, tomorrow I’ll be trying gtFOOTw’s, Rommerto’s , crash220’s and RelaxedPRKid’s tunes as well as any grip tunes I can find.
