Since models like the S15, R32, and E30 have been updated as promised, it would be more accurate to say they simply didn’t make the deadline rather than that there was a deliberate failure to deliver. Personally, I think it would have been better not to include them in FH6 until the new models were ready.

Even if we take into account the changed headlight position for FH6, and that the bumper lights could have various models, this is just dreadful. There’s no way defending this when any other cars have been remodeled.
“I don’t see any problem with the Trueno model, can you explain to me what the problem is?”
And then proceeds to go into extreme denial after an explanation.
Yeah, he jeopardized the entire conversation. He is rage-baiting.
As usual, Horizon usually comes out around November, but this year it’s been moved up to May—probably to avoid competing with GTA 6. Also, to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary, Microsoft required that a new game must be released this year.
Since the game was released half a year early, a lot of content just couldn’t be finished in time. I reckon the AE86 is a case in point—they didn’t have time to remake its car model from scratch. On top of that, finding a well-preserved, completely stock AE86 to scan must have been pretty difficult for them.
They could’ve just left this car out for now and brought it back later with a brand-new model. But since the AE86 is such an iconic JDM car, it would’ve been really odd not to include it at launch.
Updating the car model later in the game’s life cycle isn’t realistic either, because of the livery system. If they changed the car model, all the liveries players made will broken. That would upset livery creators—they’d have to redo all their hard work from scratch.
So there are only two options now: either treat the new AE86 model as a separate new car, like they did in Gran Turismo 5/6, or we’ll just have to wait until next Horizon .
Even I will admit that this is much from one person and I couldn’t care less about inaccurate models because I just want to drive the car, that’s how extreme this guy has taken it
But they used the old model as the basis to make the Forza Edition version. It seems from this that they have no intention of remodeling this car. They probably think the old model is still usable, to the point of using it to create the Forza Edition version… I’m quite pessimistic about this, but it seems impossible for this car to be remodeled anytime soon.
The game is set in Japan, but most of the JDM cars are just old, poorly detailed models. What a shame!
There’s three Trueno’s in this game, no? The Touge Trueno, the FE trrueno and the normal one? Is that right? They’d have to pull three cars there.
I’m a livery creator. I’ve no problem with them replacing the old model with a perfected one even if it breaks the livery.
It doesn’t really matter as much since most of us will be well used to the hassle of bringing designs over from FH5 by grouping them up as vinyl packages. You just reassemble the livery on the new model in a similar way.
But I know they won’t make that decision – so we’re stuck with this warped Trueno with this visit to Japan and that’s the end of that.
Even a Chinese gacha game has a better AE86 model. Although they modified the taillight details to avoid copyright issues.![]()
This is not good news. ![]()
It’s pretty obvious they rushed this to avoid clashing with GTA 6, so they didn’t have time to redo this car’s model. Updating the model mid-game lifecycle isn’t feasible either, since it would break custom liveries made by players. The only options are to release the remodeled version as a separate new car in future updates, or save it for FH7.
It’s been mentioned previously but I’ll say it again: the least they could do now is experiment with changing the assets post-launch and replace the model after informing the players that any UGC created for a car they’re changing will be unpublished. If things don’t appear broken then they can do it for every other car in the game, if things are somehow broken in unspecified ways then that would be the end.
