(OFFICIAL TEAM FORUM) Street/Touge Drifting discussions, and registration for the (Racing Division) of the team. Will be made here.
(Disclaimer) - Whichever country Forza Horizon is based around, Team Vintage Japan (The Street Style Family) will always perceive this based country as Japan. That’s why there are many references to Japan, even though we are in this perceived based country currently (Australia). As our team is based in Japan.
Originally just a late 80s to 90s based Touge/Street drifting team
Now we are a community of people that want to represent Japan’s car culture in Forza.
Shuto Expressway (首都高速道路) (WANGAN)
( 高速度) HIGH VELOCITY, RESPONSIBILITY (責任)

- NO Drivetrain swaps and NO engine swaps (USE ORIGINAL ENGINE ONLY)
Team Vintage Japan heavily focuses on the tuning of only the original drivetrain and engine of the car, and the different ways the car can handle and be better responsive currently. Not everyone in japan just buys a low powered car, and just engine swap it.
- Your car has to be able to reach 160 mph/257 Km or more
-
Rally Tires are BANNED
-
SIMULATION DAMAGE ALWAYS ON
If you are caught with you trying to sneak runs with it off, you will be banned from doing runs with us and the team. As Team Vintage Japan tolerates no mistrust, amoungst its members.
- YOU MUST HAVE A JAPANESE LICENSE PLATE (Unless you have a design on the car, that’s not yours. Then just remove your plate)
In order to remove your plate, go to the garage section of the Horizon Festival. Then press the license plate section. There will be a remove license plate button at the bottom of the screen, it will say press “X” "To remove plate. (The arrow is pointing to it) The plate you see behind it, is the license plate vinyl i put on the car.
After pressing the “X” button, the license plate came off. The plate you see, is a vinyl license plate. I will talk about this in a moment.
(All of these Japanese License plates came up, by putting in the description “Japan Plate” (capitals does not matter) when searching for a decal.
Go to the garage section of the Horizon Festival, and go to designs and paints section. Go to “APPLY DECALS.” When searching up a decal, put in the description “Japan Plate” “JDM Plate” or Japanese Plate" (capitals does not matter) When putting these words in the description, and searching. You will get a whole bunch of japanese plates to put on your car.
When getting your Japanese plate, put it on the license plate holder. (MAKE SURE TO SIZE IT PROPERLY, SO IT DOES NOT LOOK WEIRD)
There are many license plates you will see, just from searching those three key words in the description ( “Japan Plate” “JDM Plate” or Japanese Plate"). The diagram above, explains the different colors of Japanese license plates. Also, what each plate/text color of a Japanese license plate means
One plate, those diagrams does not talk about is the Japanese license plates with a red slash. These are temporary registration plates, for cars that don’t have a actual registration. In Japan
There’s a lot of fake Japanese plates, when you search up any of the three keywords in the description. ( “Japan Plate” “JDM Plate” or Japanese Plate") But its important to know if you are running with a fake or a real registered plate, when it comes to choosing your own Japanese Plate.
You are allowed to run fake Japanese plates, or even cover your plate with any material you like (You must put the plate on the car first, before you cover it with something), or frame your license plate
Here Are Examples:
Framed Plate
Covered License Plates
- No Team/Competition themed designs, from anywhere in the world except from Japan
Team Vintage Japan encourages real expressway racing team designs, for ex. Team Mid Night Club (ミッド ナイト クラブ).
Mid Night Club
HORN ALERTING COMMANDS: (These commands MUST be done, even if you can verbally say the command verbally from the party. Due to too many people talking in the party, some people not being able to connect to the party, some people not having a working mic, etc)
- When everyone is ready to set off, the leader will sound the two horns. So everyone knows that we are ready to set off.
Due to high considerable amount of horsepower, we probably wont just speed off. As that will just create a wheel spin mess for everyone. We will probably coast for a little bit, until everyone feels that they can just speed off. Without too much wheel spin trouble.
-
If you see anyone crash, one VERY long horn press. In order to IMMEDIATELY alert the other drivers, of the extremely dangerous situation
-
If you know that your car is dangerous to drive at high speeds, due to the current tires or transmission damage. CONTINUOUSLY PRESS YOUR HORN, DO NOT STOP. Don’t worry, team member wont think of this as annoying. As they will quickly understand that something is wrong. The whole Shuto run will stop, in order to find a parking lot or Service Station to change tires or damage. Essentially this is the signal to take a rest, in order to reset your car.
ROAD/LANE PROCEDURES AND RULES: THESE RULES/PROCEDURES WILL BE FOLLOWED. IF NOT, YOU WILL BE KICKED FROM THE TEAM, OR SHUTO RUN
- When everyone is ready to go, coast until the the preferred speed has been reached for launching.
- GIVE EACH OTHER SPACE, WHILE RACING
We will all be going well over 200 mph on most of every run, if you are tailing someone. As he is weaving in and through traffic, then he makes an unexpected move that leaves you not being able to react to the traffic that was in front of him. There will be an accident. Give each other space, so that no member has to worry about being slammed into when breaking, or unexpected traffic coming up from a blocked view.
- ALL RUNS are to be done as a group, only
The main purpose for us, when doing any type of racing. Is to race together as a team, and to just be able to do runs successfully and safely.
- Be careful of traffic, monitor there actions closely.
You never know while going 200 mph down Shuto, then all of a sudden a traffic car turn signal goes off with the car now transitioning into another lane. With you having no time to react, due to this. Monitor your surroundings.
- DO NOT MAKE SKETCHY PASSES
Please be very careful when overtaking, and as stated. Make sure to give the person plenty of room. Until the action is done.
- If at least half of the members want to change tires, then a near by parking lot or Service Station will be chosen. If any member has any obligations to going. You still must come off the run and come with the group too, as all runs are done as a group.
You will not just go to the side, and just reset your damage there. You will be kicked from the session
DISQUALIFIED RUNS/BANNED MEMBERS
If you do any of the following, you will be disqualified from the group Shuto Run. If these violations are done a total of 3 times, you are banned from the (Wangan Division) of the team.
-
Hitting into any object, For ex. Traffic, Street Light, Poles, Guard Rail, etc
-
Hitting into another members car
-
Your car is invalid with the car restrictions
If you violate these violations over three times in your entire membership, you will be banned from this part of the team
Shuto Expressway (首都高速道路) Routes
Inner Circular Route Part 1 And Bayshore Route Part 1 (Route C1)
Inner Circular Route Part 2 (Route C1) And Bayshore Route Part 1
The “” symbol means go, as when completing any challenge series event. You are to 60mph roll up to that symbol, after that symbol is reached. You can go as fast as you want. The “☒” symbol means that you have completed a full lap around the Route C1 Loop, but don’t be mistaken. As even though the “☒” symbol is right next to the “” symbol, you have to complete a full lap around the loop. Then head through the interchange, right next to where that “☒” is displayed. In order for the loop run to count as a lap.
Bayshore Route Part 2
Daikoku Route and Daikoku Futo Parking Area Location
This route serves as a resting point for both Shuto expressway routes. This Parking Area can be used for changing your tires, or engine repair/resetting.
We race as a group:
At the end of the day, through all the intense driving we do. All we want to do is race on the wangan together, it does not matter your speed (you still have to be able to hit 160 mph/257 Km or more As we just want to race together, and not worry about a possible crash or accident. Due to this, as stated. All tire changing and break runs will be done as a group also. As no one is to be on any of the Shuto routes, with more considerable worn tires than the other. Although if you do not feel the need to not change your tires during the break run, you do not have to. Although if you crash due to loss of grip, it will be your fault.
When Racing:
Please take extra caution while racing at high speeds, as the goal is go as fast as you can (Or how fast your mental state can handle). But to also do runs successfully and safely as a team, due to this preliminary. Team Vintage Japan asks to monitor your tires behavior as your driving, and to take caution around the slightest of turns. As one mistake, or mistook could mean the end of your membership and possibly your life. As the team has high trust with one another, and we will absolutely not have people playing with our lives.
Parking Areas/Service Stations:
All Parking Areas and Service Stations can be used as a resting stop or for tire changing and damage resetting, but you must alert the group first through the commands. In order to notify the group, that a rest stop should be looked for. At this time.
Can we trust you…
To put your life on the line with us?
Due to the dangers that every car will exhibit, from going 200 mph. Team Vintage Japan has no tolerance for foolery or even a mistake. As runs going wrong will usually meaning death, and not just a “Better Luck Next Time” statement. Due to this, if you are not serous about wangan racing. With you knowing that you will probably just cut corners, side swipe cars, hit into members, etc. Then please understand, that we do not want you here…
It is said that some of the Mid Night Club members are still running today, in secret. We hope to find them one day.

Reminder and elaboration on how you are supposed to start a challenge:
The “” symbol means go, as when completing any challenge series event or just racing on the Route C1 Loop. Sometimes in the event description, it will mention something different to start from. For example (IC)Main C1 1, (IC)Main C1 2, etc. For any point that the description says to start from, you are to 60 mph role to the stated starting point. After that point is reached, you are free to race to the stated end point.
Why The Challenges Are Here:
Anyone that wants to join this racing team must prove themselves, that they are capable of handling high sped velocities with out panicking and just cutting the course, hitting objects, or just being a danger to the other drivers. Anyone that is interested in this team is allowed to run with us, in runs. But will not officially be on the team, until the challenges is completed. We the team members of Vintage Japan want to have full confidence in you, before you join. Through these challenges completed, and with even runs with us (optional). Not everyone in japan just buys a low powered car, and just engine swap it. With this i have decided to have no pp limit/horsepwer limit, as i do not want a categorized system for cars. It is truly up to you how much power you want to push through the passes. If you cant control your car, or if you are really overseery from the start. I will see that you are not able to control your car, and the tryout session will end right then and there.

Hitting an opponent more than two times

Your car is invalid with the car restrictions
Any lying about an accident or incident, will result in ban from the team. As Team Vintage Japan does not tolerate any mistrust amongst its members.
Overall Team Vintage Japan wants to run touge mountains together, although we are all trying to go for the fastest times. We want everyone to safe when battling or just all of us racing in a group, when it comes to driving in general.
Touge Racing Types:
Cat and Mouse
The lead car can win only if the distance between the cars is 60M or more. The other car wins if it manages to overtake the lead car. If the leader and following car are within 21-59 meters of each other, when the leader crosses the line. The battle round ends in a draw. Due to this, no one will win until the leader is passed or the distance is far enough.
Note: In each round the leader rotates
This race type is an endurance type event, due to this tire wear will be a factor in these battles. We of Team Vintage Japan asks you to monitor your tire wear as you drive, in order to stay safe when battling and to accurately assess your situation. So that you can keep up with your opponent as well.
Grip Gambler
If the pass is wide enough for both cars, whoever is in the lead at the end of the Touge is pronounced the winner.

Team Vintage Japan (The Street Style Family) Background Information
-
Team Vintage Japan is a project started by me, in order to replicate Japans car scenes and events. With fully replicating there driving qualitys and attributes, and giving as close to real setting to any Motorsport based activity that is hosted from Japan.
-
Where the team started: Gunma Prefecture (When we started, we mostly drifted on Mount Haruna. But then soon started to explore other Mountain Passes)
-
When the team was formed: 1986
-
Our Favorite Mountain Pass: Fujimi Kaido
-
Most of us has been playing Forza, since Forza 4 and before.
-
All members are chosen to be on the team, biased on there drive to see any driving activity fully replicated and simulated. (Based on what we have available) As all members want to experience and go through what its like go through the actions of these drivers in real life, whether illegal or not in all racing games.
TEAM VINTAGE JAPAN IDEOLOGY WHEN IT COMES TO RACING
I feel that everyone in the racing field should have a choice of horsepower and modifications, when it comes to any racing aspect. As pp limits and horsepower limits, makes very unrealistic races. By making cars proportional to you. Theses limits makes very unrealistic races, due to everyone you are racing are not always being proportional to you. Due to this, I have decided. That it is absolutely up to the driver, as to what goes into there car. With no pp limit stopping them, as every car needs balance. You cant have too much power and expect grip, or have too less of horsepower and expect speed. With this balance, there is a fine line between excessive and linear. People should tune there car based on what they feel only, and not on a limit. People should have confidence when driving there car against others, not thinking about. “Well, since these cars have the same pp range as me. I’m sure to be fine.” Although Team Vintage Japan sees the reasoning behind the pp limit, as to balance the competition with limiting vehicular attributes. This way of thinking is totally different compared to real life, as everyone is relying on a system that does not model the real life actions of racing and the racing scene. Part of the thrill is to not know whats under the hood of your opponent, or to actually be at a disadvantage for example “Horsepower, weight, etc.” With these disadvantages, now thinking of ways to tackle these challenges. With thinking about how to counter attack your opponents superior car qualities, compared to your car. Team Vintage Japan wants to keep these instincts alive, with people having full confidence in there car. With not just feeling relief that you manages to switch parts around, in order to get 800pp (Highest pp for A Class) As these feelings are integral to the racing scene, and what binds people to try even harder to be faster with what they have or can change.
