Would it be possible to add sport and race torque vectoring differential upgrades to the game?
I think it would be an excellent part when tuning, especially in all-wheel drive cars where getting a car to rotate with acceleration can be challenging at times. This issue is most easily seen in many typical front-wheel drive based awd cars such as VW Golf, some smaller Audi models and so on. Customisable TVD upgrade with left / right bias settings would make these cars much more tuner-friendly.
I think that as cool it would be to have technology like that represented in game, it would either introduce yet another confusing factor to tuning or (assuming a very simplified implementation) would become an instantly required modification.
Torque vectoring ultimately adds in computational logic where the ECU will process weight shift and other factors and electronically adjust where power is being applied. The obvious result being improved handling characteristics. That would be a terrific and preferable thing to have, but there is already functionality built into the game to achieve “improved handling characteristics”.
Personally I would prefer quite simplified TVD system which basicly works on accelerator / brake / steering input (or something similar). Complicated systems just make things unnecessary difficult and might still not lead to an improvement I hoped. I also think this kind of upgrade should have an effect on PI. Maybe other differential upgrades should too but I believe I’m pretty much alone with that idea since almost everyone goes to these upgrades since they doesn’t affect PI.
That said, in my opinion FM AWD systems in general need some updating, which might at least help a bit on issues I described on my previous message. Just tested multiple stock and tuned cars (mostly Audi / VW) in heavy rain and I have to say I didn’t find these AWD systems function as they should in my experience. This may belong more to troubleshooting section so I might need to start another topic for that. I would really like that TVD though.
What would that look like? A diff setting to apply some configured percentage to a specific wheel? Different manufactures use differing methods for torque vectoring…
I would love something like a LSD, where you could decide how many clutches you want and how steep the power curve is and the preload. The diff in Forza confuses me sometimes, it would be nice to have something that gives us more control over how the power is applied to the wheels.
It could be just a simple adjustable left / right maximum bias % on full steering angle.
I don’t see a problem on manufacturer side since it would be Forza not a manufacturer upgrade. Every car / brand would have the same upgrade. If you choose it, you lose any oem system there might have been.
*not saying there couldn’t / shouldn’t be any manufacturer specific upgrades for this.
I mentioned manufactures as an incomplete comment actually… I was gonna say that different manufactures achieve it by different methods, but I realized that was inconsequential.
