I’d love to see an option in Forza Horizon 6 that allows creators to choose whether their shared vinyl groups and/or car liveries are published as locked or unlocked.
The concept would be simple:
- When sharing a design, the creator can toggle whether it is editable by others.
- Locked designs remain unchanged, just like they work now.
- Unlocked designs can be used as a base, allowing players to tweak colors, scale, or small details while preserving the original shape and structure.
At the moment, if you want a logo in a specific color combination, you first have to hope someone already shared that exact version. If not, you’re forced to recreate the entire logo from scratch—often just to change the colors.
This becomes especially time-consuming with complex logos like Red Bull or Monster Energy, where recreating an already-perfect shape can take hours despite the community version already existing.
An optional unlocked setting would:
- Reduce unnecessary duplicate work
- Encourage collaboration and creativity
- Make the livery editor more accessible to casual players
- Still give creators full control over how their work is used
Creators who prefer full ownership can keep their designs locked, while those who want to contribute editable bases can opt in. It adds flexibility without taking anything away from existing systems.
TL;DR:
Add a toggle when sharing vinyl groups or liveries that lets creators choose whether their designs are locked or unlocked. Unlocked designs could be used as editable bases (e.g. recoloring logos) instead of forcing players to recreate complex designs from scratch, while still giving creators full control over how their work is shared.
