Ok - I just bought a new XBox One without the Kinect camera (the new one they released on 9-Jun-2014).
Will the Thrustmaster TX 458 wheel work with Forza 5 on an XBox that doesn’t have a Kinect? Does the Thrustmaster TX 458 wheel use the Kinect in any way?
Just want to be 100% certain that I’m buying something that will be compatible with my system before I plunk down 4 bills on this wheel.
No worries, it will work just fine without Kinect.
The only Kinect related feature of the TX is the pairing LEDs, a set of infrared LED’s that can be detected by Kinect in order to assign the controller to the console. However, given that it has a wired connection, this feature is redundant somehow. Only thing i could think of is that Kinect will switch the player profile if someone else takes a seat behind the wheel. Using the LED’s together with the face recognition, Kinect might be able to sense the driver swap and changes the active profile accordingly.
Ahh – OK. I watched a video on the Thrustmaster TX and they made mention of something about the Kinect sensing the person who was behind the wheel, and it suddenly occurred to me that I might be s.o.l. if I tried to use it with my non-Kinect XBox.
Thanks for clarifying that for me – much appreciated.
If you CAN afford the gte wheel / it makes the plastic wheel feel like a toy/ night and day difference! Do you like how much better the wheel feels with the new rim and want to up it another notch? Add a set of t-500 pedals forget 3pa, the t500s take your rig to the next level, I have already upgraded to all those and that set up with a wheel stand and THIS SET UP ROCKS!!! I HAVE SO MUCH FUN RUNNING MY BLOWN C7 VETTE DOWN THE RING!!!
