Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel accelerator pedal stopped working...

I have had the steering wheel and pedals for about two weeks from Amazon. The accelerator pedal stopped working. Not sure if the brakes are working either.

There aren’t any settings in FM5 that would turn the pedals off - right?

Anyone taken their pedals apart; and if so, would you recommend doing it to see what the issue is?

I have the T3PA pedals on order to replace the default pedals but those won’t be in for anther three weeks. Bummer.

Have you updated to the latest firmware? It updates the wheel to use the clutch pedal. But this sounds like your pedal cable might not be pushed all the way in. I say this as it might appear to be in but isn’t - a few people on here have had this issue and realised the same.

This post is likely to get moved to the hardware section btw.

Thanks for the reply Owen! I updated the firmware before I set it up.

Okay go figure… I got the add-on Thrustmaster Ferrari GTE F458 Wheel to replace the default rim. So on a whim, I put the default rim back on and the pedals and wheel work now. That is weird. The Ferrari wheel is supposed to work with the XB1. Not sure what is going on with this one. If I have to use the uncomfortable rim then I am fine. I guess. The Ferrari rim will go back.

Thanks Owen.

unplug the wheel from the xbox one, turn instant on mode off on your xbox one and turn it off (in the xbox settings menu, under power options), disconnect the power to the wheel, disconnect the pedals, take off the F458 rim, put the GTE rim back on, plug in the pedals, reconnect the power to the wheel, turn on your xbox one and wait for it to fully boot up, plug the usb cable for the wheel back into the xbox one, allow it to calibrate, sign into your profile, start up forza, check your desired rotation in the forza advanced controller settings, load up a car and a track, and test it out.

Also, and this is very important. While loading to a track in forza, DO NOT move the wheel, press any buttons on the wheel, press any of the pedals. That is stated in the manual somewhere, and I would suggest following that advice. There are plenty of people who are using the GTE rim, and doing so without the issue you are facing. So that may mean the rim didn’t make a proper connection, or you didnt have the rim screwed on tight enough. Make sure that the locking screw on the wheel stem is properly in place also, if it isnt, the wheel will become loose from the base unit.

Also Owen, the clutch pedal worked with the older firmware. People have been using the T500RS pedal set for forza 5 since the TX was released (same connector), and some have also been using the T3PA pedal set clutch since they released to the general public. Not to mention the people using their old fanatec pedals, with the aid of the basherboards Fanatec to Thrustmaster pedal adaptor. The firmware updates main function, is to allow the use of the TH8A shifter unit, with a few other things thrown in on top; such as “auto clutch” and wheel sensitivity adjustment.

HwyStar, I use the GTE rim and F1 rim and both are working just fine. I updated the firmware whilst the F1 rim was attached and had no issues. I then later swapped and used the GTE rim for a session and it also works fine, although I do have a faulty d-pad. So as Ialyrn says, perhaps swapping it back again may work for you.

Ialyrn, thanks. It is strange that my clutch pedal wasn’t working before I did the update. I have the Basher CPX adapter attached to my Fanatec pedals. Tried it when I first got it, it didn’t work, but I wasn’t bothered and didn’t try again as I only use the clutch pedal and H shifter on PC sims (pedals plugged directly into PC), so maybe there was a calibration issue initially and had I tried again it would have worked. I only tried it yesterday because of the update.

Thanks Ialyrn! I will give that a whirl. Makes perfect sense when you map it out that way. Thanks for writing it all out for me.

Thanks again Owen. See you down the road!

Everything works again! You solved it for me. The weird thing is, is that I turned my xbox off again to remount the steering wheel to my desk and powered the xbox back on and the whole steering wheel did not work again. I got out of the game powered the XB1 down again, unplugged the USB, powered on the XB1, waited for the desktop to install, plugged in the USB, and all is back to normal.

The XB1 must not like seeing the USB at power-up. Since it is a non-standard peripheral for XBox it must say “ignore this device” in the device manager and don’t load the device drivers. But after complete boot up the steering wheel installs the device drivers over the OS and all is well. That’s my theory anyway and I am always wrong!

Thanks again for your help Gang!

I always unplug my wheel power cord and usb cord when i’mdone. When i restart i plug in wheel power cord then start xbox wait for green screen then plug in usb,if wheel don’t center right away don’t worry when it gets to the home page it will.

I have the T3PA pedals and it was working fine until I did the latest update on the wheel. Now the accelerator doesn’t work and the clutch is the accelerator.

Everything works correctly when plugged into my PC but the Xbox just has the pedals all wrong.

Anyone else had this issue?

Any chance you got a fix for this?

Since I mistakenly did the update, I now have this problem… Can’t find a fix…

And since the V47 my center is off about 5-7 degrees off left… but the gas and clutch are always reversed…

please help…

I get this all the time where, when I have left the power cord in the wheel and the USB attached (just powered off the xbox1 and then later back on again), the accellerator does not work. Nor does the car turn, but all else wrks fine. It’s got to have something to do with mapping or maybe the latest firmware? I noticed in both v45 and v47. Very touchy this wheel is.

Hey Cuz. Nice to see you back on Forza. Don’t be beating any of my rivals times LOL

When i’m done racing, I always unplug the power cord & usb cable for the TX. I never leave it plugged up when not in use. Never experienced any problems with mine, to date. Had it since November.

My t3pa pedals are reversed ??? Clutch is the gas and gas pedal is dead??? I updated it first before plugging anything in and this happens? Can someone help me out please??? I just dont want this to be a waste of money cause man it hurt my pocket paying for the thing…

If you go into the manual, there is a section for reversing the clutch and gas pedals for use when the pedals are mounted upside down (like in a normal road car). This state will make the red/green light stay green. To revert back to normal, which in turn makes the red/light stay red, just perform the following:

Press and hold the Mode button (button right next to the green/red light) for 2 seconds.

Hope this helps.

I have a similar but different issue. On occasion while racing I’ll just lose all my throttle response or it will drop down to 20% input until I power cycle the wheel. On a few occasions the Brakes stopped working until I power cycle the wheel. I’ve noticed when this happens the Green light on my TX blinks Red momentarily before the pedal drops out. That tells me its something internal in the wheel. I’m not sure if its overheating or what but its cost me some online races and tonight it just pushed me over the edge. I have the T3PA Pedals and the T8HP shifter hooked up as well and running a GTE rim.

Guys I know I’m late but I REALLY need help. My pedals aren’t just malfunctioning, THEY DON’T WORK AT ALL. Today I had finished playing nfs on my controller and I plugged in my wheel after then I started playing fh3 and when I got started my pedals weren’t working, this happens all the time so I had unplugged and re plugged the wheel and that has always works for me, but this time it wouldn’t respond, so I went in the home menu to see if pressing the pedals would skip area of the home screen but It didn’t. So I went on my PC and opened the control panel to see the pedal axis, AND NOTHING HAPPENED, I DIDN’T SHOW ANY DIFFERENCE AND IT STAYED AT 0. After that I figured out that when I move my pedals cord in the wheel it turns my wheel off, idk if that says something but that’s wierd. So I took as far as to OPEN my pedals, found nothing out of the ordinary. (btw it took me 3hrs to find out how to open and close it) so I’m kinda sad cuz my wheel is unusable and it’s not old, had it for 9 months. Someone please help me :frowning:
