Thrustmaster TS-PC massive issues with FH4

Hi,

In the past few years, I haven’t played Forza all that much. However, with the incoming launch of FH5, I thought I’d buy FH4 and give it a go on my wheel. I downloaded the demo, and it worked flawlessly. Not quite up to the standards of an actual sim, but enjoyable to drive nonetheless. I dialed in my settings just so on my Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer 488 Challenge edition, and was happy with the results.

However, when I got the full game up and running, immediate problems started to present themselves. For whatever reason, the wheel was incredibly vague around centre, and always wanted to pull in either direction. On top of this, it had a weird deadzone issue where it would always “notch” when passing the dead straight centre point. The steering sensitivity was closer to that of a tractor as well. No matter what I do in the advanced control settings, the game is completely unplayable. The wheel acts more like a joystick ingame than an actual force feedback wheel, unlike the demo where it ran with no issues at all.

Has anyone experienced similar issues? What did you do to solve them?

Thanks in advance,
Carl.

not playing with wheel myself but just in case it could help, I’ve read several times on this forum that FH4 is not playable with wheel except for road races.

I see you’re on PC.

Make sure you have Thrustmasters drivers installed and you have the wheel set up to 900 degree steering both in and out of game.

Suggest you go into the game and reset all the wheel “Advanced” controls to default and then make one specific change first: Turn Dampening down to 0, leave everything else at default.
See how that feels.

If you still feel like your are driving a bus, you can reduce the amount of rotation within the game to something like 540 degrees for tighter turning and a weightier wheel.

I am on Xbox and had the same issue with my Thrustmaster TMX Leather edition. I had not used it in a few years but once starting to play FH4 I was having the same issues. I finally found a post that sent me after the latest drivers from Thrustmaster web site. This and I remember making one change in the Thrustmaster settings itself, then i went back to the default FH4 wheel settings and made a few small adjustments to my liking.

This improve the feeling around center greatly and gave me back the feeling of understeering and over steering to catch the car as either end started to lose traction. It also improved my Pedals in giving me a more linear accelerator so I could have more throttle control. Before it was hitting to hard causing me a lot of issue with spinning out with RWD cars.

Hope this helps you out.
