Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider wheel rotation problem

Hi, recently i bought a 458 Spider wheel for my xbox one. I have tried it on Forza 5, 6 and Horizon 2 with the same problems.

When i go to a race and use the cockpit view i can see that when i have rotated the wheel about 90* i have full steering in game. When i turn the wheel all the way to one side, the last 30* nothing happens in game. Basically this means that it is not using the full 240* in game. All the settings are normal and the sensitivity on the wheel is set to 3.

And this is annoying because when i start to slide in a corner and tries to maintain a straight line i can not get the car straight, usually i ends up in a wall or in the sand.

See the video in this link, there you can see the problem: Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider deadzone problem - YouTube

Sorry for my bad English.

Press up on the wheel dpad and you see in the rotation that the game recognize the 240°, just the cockpit camera don’t follow the rotation.
And in wheel options set the wheel deadzone to 0 and the option below to 100 (sorry, I forget the option name)

I just tried with the dpad, nothing wrong with the wheel. And as you said it recognize the 240°. But the wheel rotation in the game stops at about 180°. I tried to do some circle movements with a car and the position the wheel stops at in game and i tried it also with maximum rotation. Nothing different between these two rotations. So it seems like there is a deadzone that i can’t change in the settings. The last 30° i move the wheel seems like a deadzone.

This is very annoying because when i turn the wheel then at one position it suddenly rotates alot in game. I notice this when i am fast cornering or I try to correct the car after sliding in a corner.

I tried this with the deadzone adjusted as you mentioned, and with the default settings in the game.

The wheel rotation in game stops before i got full rotation with the thrustmaster wheel.

that’s not a problem… the wheel still works the cockpit animations are crap in forza(yeah I know super simple fix but they just don’t care) and it stops at low deg… and that’s that… ! nothing you can do about but just deal with it :frowning:

if that didn’t make sense, the forza games only have 90deg animation for wheels, anything above that is unanimated and simply sits at 90deg in the game but your car wheels will still turn more - look at the outside cam.

I have the same issue and it’s impossible to play the game using the wheel because of this!
Grudas. What is the fix? You wrote that you know one.

I have the same problem. After steering half-way…the game does a full lock on the steering. It makes it hard to drive smoothly because it suddenly full-locks and then you will understeer and tires go red. Maybe i am too accustomed to 900 degree wheels on the PS4. (Cant settle for cheap wheels) My advice is just get a better wheel…I am looking at the new Logitech G920.

Same problem here. The wheel isn’t even at 90 degrees when in game the steering suddenly moves faster and jumps to full lock. The turning isn’t consistent with the in game turning because of the sudden full lock before the wheel reaches 90 degrees. As you can see in the video above…
It really sucks because it’s ruining the game, it’s impossible to maintain control of the car.

I have the same problem with the 458 Spider wheel.
Hope for a patch to fix this.

What sensitivity do you have it on? Forza games need to be on the last sensitive setting there is.

I have it on the lowest possible (minimum)

I have tried all the sensitivities from 1 to 4. And tried to adjust all the additional controller configuration inside the game settings. On the big turns there is not much the wheel rotation to make the turns good. Possible the speed of the cars and that the Forza 6 more realistic and of course you can’t turn all the turns on the speed 150-200KHMh  - you need to slow down before the turn.

Anyway in future I’ll try another wheel from the Mad Catz, Pro Racing Force Feedback Wheel. This wheel have 900 degrees of rotation and then only I’ll after comparison I’ll know what the real problem is.

This was the case for me in the demo as well. And it was the reason I didn’t buy it. Completely undriveable with the spider wheel.

Just googled it to see if it still was a problem in the full game. And apparently it is. I won’t buy F6 unless it gets fixed or I buy a FFB wheel.

I have the same wheel and I race fine with all assists off except TCS

So your in-game wheel rotates the same as your spider? What settings have you changed?

My outside steering deadzone is set to 100

I find a fix that work for me and now the wheel is really fine.

  1. Put the wheel in the 3 sensitity
  2. Start a race
  3. In the menu after start the race (when you see the box and the people) press 2 times the xbox button to enter the xbox left menu
  4. exit the menu
  5. Start the race and enjoy the wheel

Sorry for my english. in dead zone put 0-70

Hope it works for you.

As far as I can tell from telemetry, with the sensitivity set to 4 flashes, the actual wheel turn is accurate. The hands onscreen go full lock too early, but the steering doesn’t. Unfortunately, I play in the cockpit view, so this glitch is beyond distracting/frustrating.
