This is the single thing that angers me the most from this game. Not rammers, disconnections or whatever. You go to Horizon Open to find a game session, you enter, it says “Waiting for players to be ready” and i am like “aight, i am ready with my car, time to wait for a bit”, except EVERY SINGLE TIME the game actually lefts me out of the race and greets me with the classical “An Event is in progress - you will be able to join in the next one”.
This is one of the most pathetic MP systems i have ever seen, it’s like since i didn’t load with the rest of the players, i am freaking left out of the race and is not because i can’t load fast enough, i play the game from an SSD that loads everything pretty quickly, so if the game chooses to simply cast you out of a race, then at least it should let SSD players to do a quick load and let them in the race. Hell, even games like R6S allows the player to load last minute to join a match.
It makes my blood boil to see “Waiting for players to be ready” and me waiting like an idiot just so the game says i can’t join the event. The only way i can join is if out of luck the race has any random percentage of completion, it ends and then the game decides now i can join by loading me into the race. Just what the hell.
It’s actually not the most pathetic MP system. FMsixyearsgroundup has gone one better. Or worse… you wait a half an hour to get in a online race - or - you wait a half an hour to watch the game crash. There’s an odds line in Vegas you can bet on race or crash.
What happens to me is something similar. The game puts me into a wait (ok, fair). Then it puts me in another queue for a race (Why?). And when the race finally starts, I find out soon that the game had put me in a group of racers that are already at 3/3 stage in their progression (WTH?).
No way for me to rack up points to win but if I wait even more after that pointless race, the game might finally place me into a group that’s beginning the first stage.
What a tedious process and a great way to suck out all the entertainment out of it.
It really is inexcusable. Matchmaking systems from over 15 years ago, back when the idea of getting randomly matched into a server was a novel concept, were already doing a better job than this nonsense.
