No grey or burry images on my XSX either,I cant understand why it looks good on one console but poor on another.Colours are vibrant when I play on my tv as well.
It’s all about weather conditions. Sometimes the game actually looks good but others looks flat, it needs more attention to detail and make it more real in terms of reflections what it looks like at night the rims being brigther than the light of the cars and etc . Look at this screenshot and look at the rims I have no car behind and rims inside are bright. It shouldn’t be like that IRL that doesn’t happen
The game needs really people to focus on graphics and perfected more.
I got curious to compare FM7 and FM on my Series S.
Time of day is close. Each has its strengths. I still think there are shaders in FM that need to be adjusted/patched.
Nice comparison , the new Forza feels brighter in general not too dark like in cockpit or tracks but the clouds on FM7 to me look much more real and high resolution. On new Forza if you pay attention on some weather conditions with clouds darker ones you can see that they are way too pixelated.
Great comparisons here.
In that first shot fm7 looks like the next gen game.
But stills screenshots don’t really do FM8 lighting effects. justice.
However look at the detail on the Ferrari in 7, just have to look at the headlights. I think ditch the RT method and go back to the old reflection method.
But I really don’t think they will change much to the graphic engine now.
Yes the clouds and in general the weathers looked better in FM7 IMO.
Also the game needs more options for weather conditions, we can can’t even set 2 weathers in FM7 we could set 3 different conditions for each race. And they all had a probabilty slider so you could even let RNG decide if the weather will become active or not. All of that combined made it much better.
I would like to have the option to have heavy rainstom, that is followed by clouded but still sunshiny weather like in summer. This way also rainbows could appear. I live in a spot in real life, where i always see double rainbows in every summer. The best part is i don’t even have to go out to see them, i just have to look out the window.
Also the carbon fibre in the cockpit in 7 actually looks like it. In 8 it looks like shiny plastic with a cf pattern on it lol!
Yeap, same. I did have to tweak my TV a little and colours look great. One thing, however, that I still dislike is the inclusion of a vignette-like effect during night driving. Switch to any of the external views to see what I mean - the centre of the screen is dark while the corners are greyed out. No, not my TV, lol
The more I read here
- give us an updated FM7 with the new tyre models
The FM7 Pro could just leave the graphics side it seems to me.
- I like the gameplay and options available
- my wheel works
The less accurate update frequency problems would be solved.
If you take a really close look you can see there is a complete circle on the screen.
It’s a bit like having a crossair on screen.
It’s in the really black area. There is a big circle well an oval all over the screen, that also has to do with the vignette effect, it’s totally annoying. I want that gone. I first thought my OLED TV is broken, but then i took a screenshot and looked at it.
maybe depth of field effects?
when DOF is implemented artificially it’s typically done in an elipse shape like you are demonstrating.
I don’t know what it is.
Yes, there is often VERY obvious pixelization of the sky at certain times of day. And the FM7 clouds are indeed a high resolution, and have some very nicely done animations and a slight time of day transition animation (even if they are not dynamically lit).
This came to my mind while comparing the screenshots. Certain lighting and situations, IMO, the lighting in FM is fantastic.
I took another set of comparisons yesterday, but they are ruined (as a comparison) by the lighting being different at the start line on Suzuka, on FM. Again, each has its strengths, but there are some example of really nice lighting (IMO) going on with FM there. But it somehow looks better (again, IMO) in motion than in screenshots.
Probably quite a lot to do with people’s TVs too.
I have a pretty decent Samsung QLED with great HDR performance and the game looks great.
I also play on PC and sometimes it can look pretty flat and boring and I have a very decent rig (7800x3d and 7900XTX).
If I bother to hook up the PC to the TV though… Well it can look pretty darn good!
I have a mid budget 50 inch tv,the game looks great with HDR,like I said,no grey washed out picture. Its a pity it cant look the same for everybody across the board.
FM looks nice and vibrant on my tv. No grey anywhere. I’m on Series X. No idea why it looks so drab on your tv .
Yea some of the fm7 shots look flat. I do remember ready this on an earlier FM fm7 test.
So after the last update with Nordschleife I’ve reinstalled the game, but it’s a mess as before.
- It started not with the native windows resolution but I knew from the last time, that I have to change the resolution.
- The game runs only with 50 fps (I have a 21:9 100 Hz monitor) → I don’t understand this, a few posts say that I should change the refresh rate of my monitor to 60Hz to solve this issue. Ok with 60Hz FM runs with 60fps. But I don’t really like to change every time the refresh rate to 60Hz.
- Tried a free race to check the Nürburgring with random weather and it was raining what is not really a problem but the wipers in cockpit or dash view do nothing.
- The AI are not aware of the player. In this test the AI crashed my car at the start line as I tried to remember if there is a button for the wiper.
→ For me this game has so many fundamental bugs that I’m not sure they will fix it. This 4 points are complete basics and there is no excuse that it’s not working.
Well I do like a lot FM7 screen shots reflections look way better and it’s not ray tracing, you can see on first photo light reflections on the hood from track and on second photo the track reflections on water are way sharper. Third photo there is no light on cockpit only on gauges , wheel and center console and doors its absent.
In real life water puddles in black concrete actually reflects a lot with the little puddles but the new FM8 does not have puddles or aquaplaning effects also.
There are so many cars that have bugged wipers it’s weird. I wonder if there even were ANY gametesters AT ALL.
BMW M3 GTR there aren’t even any raindrops collecting on the windshield it looks weird.
Mercedes Sauber C9 wipers don’t work at all and no rain is collecting on the windshield.
VW Corrado wipers become invisible.
