The Second Bucket List #7 - Lotus Exige 65mph

Has anyone completed this yet? I see guides for all the others but this one and it’s driving me nuts. I’ve tried going both ways around the zone but neither seems to work, best I can get is 62mph, any tips guys?

Anyone got any ideas?

Turn on braking line but ignore it. You’ll have to start wider and cut in deeper. It’s there to help you gauge speed. It should light up about 1/6 to 1/3 of the corner in red if you’re going the right speed. Also, turn stability control off if it isnt already (it will only interfere). It took me several tries, but when I finally got it, I started where my outside wheels were nearly on the rough, carved into both corners early, dipping the inner wheels into gravel, and eased back onto the gas as soon as I started coming back out to the road. It took several tries but when I found the right line it showed my up-to-then average speed as 68-ish and rising as straightened out toward the goal.

I’ve completed it. It did take a few tries for sure. I found many of the bucket list items are less to do with skill and more to do with blind luck. On this one, it was the traffic cars that made all the difference. You want them on straights and never the corners. Just keep at it until you luck into a good traffic car situation. I did notice i had more luck getting success on the tougher ones by exiting/quitting and re-entering instead of using restart or retry. Seems to reset the variables better???

Stay in gear. I think gear 2 takes the car to just enough speed to make it from the last corner to the checkpoint. Also, make sure you absolutely floor it on any of the straighter parts, shifting up where needed. An use manual gears, automatic will fail almost anyone.

Done all Buckets in single & coop and by no means I am a great driver.

Like OctagonQontrol, I am by no means a great driver. But I did complete it in automatic!

Same here. Took a few tries, but it was all about finding the right line (which it seems is often a bit more aggressive than the game’s suggestion, not just on on this challenge)

The biggest thing I found that helped me get it done in just a couple tries, don’t drift, just do the wide apex style ExaltedDuck mentioned.

Carry speed around the corners under control, don’t just sling it around the hairpin… I beat the target by 3mph.

Its all about how fast you get into the zone. The best way to go is the downhill way and you can floor it mid corner with the exige and it will not slide wide even if you have all the assists off (which I do). I finished it at around 68 mph just being careful with my braking lines and staying on the pavement.

Carry as much speed as possible into the first hairpin, brake, grab the apex, then floor it right after the apex (you can get on the gas really early in the Lotus Exige) and do the same down to the second hairpin, the car will accelerate faster going downhill so stick to doing it the way the game sends you.

This is definitely one of those achievements that can lead one to not return for a long while after completing it. It’s difficult to get the cadence of the moves with the traffic as variable as it is… Often it’s as though the game wants to put traffic in my path and the limited path that leads to the speed required is not an option.

I will poke at this as it is my last Bucket List… But as I alluded to, this is one of those moments where it can break the want to continue.

I just jumped in and did this one again on my first try. That said, the first time I did it, it took at least two or three tries.

The trick is to use good throttle control, and maintain adequate grip. I know, easier said then done, but here are a few tricks:

  1. Don’t go flying into the corner before the speed zone entry camera
  2. Slow down a little bit before the fist turn, take it a bit wide on the outside and make sure you are in 2nd gear. Give it some throttle, but don’t mash the trigger all the way down, you should easily be doing at least 65 if not way more entering the speed zone.
  3. Be around 3rd or 4th gear - the car will accelerate plenty fast and the RPMs will be lower in a higher gear which helps with the rear end
  4. Don’t lock up the brakes, brake earlier if necessary
  5. Down shift down into first before the apex
  6. Carefully go on throttle at the apex and shift up to second or third
  7. Fly down the straight and repeat, brake early, down shift prior to the apex, once you hit the apex, shift up to third or fourth
  8. After the second corner, FLOOR IT!

EDIT: There were plenty of traffic cars and I messed up the entrance, but I have the clip and am working on uploading it. I did it three times while trying to figure out how to record it, but I passed it each time. I definitely had a much harder time with the LaFerrari speed zone.

Alright,

Here is a video showing the Second Bucket List #7 : Lotus Exige Speed Zone.

Sorry about the poor microphone work and rushed video, I just threw this together kind of quickly.

Dude who gave the first response about turning stability off was spot on. Got it first try after 6 or 7 failed attempts with 4/5 mph to spare. Cheers,
