The sad truth about ALL racing games...........................

Now let me first of all say that i would NEVER want to see this in a racing game and Im not, NOT suggesting it, at all. I also LOVE FM5, and what I’m about to say applies to ALL online racing games.

The sad truth is if in online races if all cars were transparent, like ghost cars in FM5 , would solve a lot of problems in it.

Thats all Id like to say.

and there would be no racing at all.

It would be a hotlap lobby.

This.

The game is better with collisions on. That’s the truth.

The sad truth with all games these days, is some people just don’t know how to behave properly online, or simply don’t care. Which is why I mostly stick to rivals or single player.

I was going to say we have that mode now - its called rivals mode.

I just think there needs to be some better way of dealing with the over the top contact. I don’t know the solution but F1 2010 was pretty good at dealing with it. There were still griefers but not that many.

Blocking players profiles that are obvious trolls has helped a great deal in the meantime.

Has it really? You’re not seeing the clowns any longer, which is great for you. However, they are still out there and in another lobby ruining someone else’s racing. I see blocking people as a band aid. It covers up the problem, but really does nothing to fix it to begin with. I pretty much have given up on public lobbies all together.

It does fix it if every clean racer blocks the trolls. Let me explain.

A friend and I enter a lobby. There are crashers. I spit the dummy, quit the race and return to the lobby. I block two of the crashers. My friend does not.

I search for a new lobby and guess what? I can not find one.

If the crashers get blocked enough then what will happen is the clean racers (who have not blocked each other) will get matched up and the crashers will not have any clean racers left to race with.

The blocking screen now says you will not get matched up with someone you blocked. It worked for me the other night.

Thank you SatNiteEduardo for the well put explanation. I rarely come across any crashers anymore because I always block their profile when I do. I believe the blocking system has been very effective.

You know, sounds silly but sometimes I wish I could unblock some of the folks I’ve blocked. After a couple of gin and tonics on the weekend missing the numpties was rather amusing, watching their police-liveried BMW M5s come lumbering at you and E-braking to let them run into the wall and carry on on your way.

I did report all the numpties I blocked, but is there a way to unblock some sport?

You can unblock people if you remember their gamertag. Just type it into the “find friends” and choose “unblock player”. There might even be a list of players you’ve blocked somewhere to access and go through but I haven’t found it yet.

I always report and block the intentional wreckers… Everyone should do it. It actually works, everyone I have blocked I never seen again.

How would you fix it? Many solutions have been proposed over the years but none are able to combat the negative effects that could take place to the victims of the incident.

Iracing’s tends to work because they requirements they want and the rules in place.

I’m glad you don’t actually want ghost racing because IMO that would be terrible. I’ll take the crashers and the morons before I would have ghost cars.

crashers hmmmmmmmmm i must be an [mod edit, profanity-fb] cause i will use others to help me get around the corner with cars that drive like [mod edit, profanity-fb] such as many of the cars i have driven on fm5

Don’t be a twit and “use” other cars to help your poor driving, you’ve got to be better than that. If you can’t handle the car, either practice solo to learn how to, or don’t drive it. People with that kind of mentality is the very problem we’re dealing with.

Honestly, T10 could make a few hoppers dedicated solely to major contact racing, demolition derbies, and some form of cops and racers. I’d like to think having options for people that want carnage would help to avoid having that carnage take place in the wrong type of lobbies in the first place.

They already did that, it’s called Tag.

Unfortunately I believe most of these people don’t want carnage. They want to be irritating trolls. They think its funny. I was watching a guy race online recently who started off the race with clean intentions. As soon as someone bumped him enough at the 2nd turn to make his tires go into the grass he lost control of his car and spun out…now the bump was probably not on purpose. Crowded corners can make this happen. But once he realized he wasn’t in the race he became the cancer. He started ramming people every chance he got.

Maybe like another poster said, they should make everyone who falls below the leader by a certain amount a ghost. Once you are not in the race you should no longer have the ability to impact the outcome for anyone else.

Unfortunately this online behavior is in most games these days. Anyone try the PC games Rust or DayZ?
As cool as the Titanfall demo was I won’t be taking part in any game that doesn’t give me a single player option. Online gaming is infested with trash talking 11 year olds who get a kick out of making people angry. I just don’t see how my limited time I get to play video games in a day will be enhanced by hearing an 11 year old who just spawned behind me yell “you just got PAWND Dawg!!!” …I’ll pass.

I’ve blocked every troll I come across and even searched through uploaded replays using troll as a search word, gone through the YouTube videos the trolls upload searching for game tags to block and I still get new ones in the lobby’s. The game is thick with trolls and they give you a glitchy kick option that boots you to the xbox home screen and that’s pretty much it. I’m going to spend my gaming time this week just bouncing from lobby to lobby looking for more names to block and if all that doesn’t clean it up to a more acceptable level I think I’m gonna be done with online.

The kick option has a bypass… This should keep you from getting kicked out after you vote to kick a troll. Pick your car first before you vote to kick somebody. This tip was told to me awhile back and i havent been kicked since i started doing this.

Yeah, I’ve received that advice before and it seemed to work for quite a while until recently I’ve been booted twice the same way after vote kicking. I was keeping the car I was already driving both times though so I don’t know if I need to open the garage and re-choose the same car first and then boot the troll or if the new update somehow scratched the choose the car first deal or it’s something else entirely. The damage of it is kind of already done because now there are people who are apprehensive of using the kick option because of the problem with it and you won’t get a majority.
