Will career mode have more than 2 or 3 laps cause that was a real letdown for me in FM5. It was almost impossible to pass all of the cars in 3 laps on the hardest level. I can’t find the answer to that question anywhere so if anyone knows pleases let me know. I hope it will be optional like in project cars where you get to choose race length that way everybody wins.
Thanks for the reply although I really wish there were more info about the career race length, I say this is the most important question for me cause I never play online since they eliminated custom racing lobbies and you end up in a destruction derby arena instead of on a race track!
Unfortunately, T10 (and PG) has a tendency to play their cards VERY close to the chest, usually sticking to buzzwords, catchphrases and pre-scripted statements. I don’t know if you guys remember the run-up to FH1, but if I had heard Ralph Fulton recite “Vast, and begging to be explored” just ONE more time when asked about that game’s map, I’d have lost it. It’s almost comical sometimes- it’s a video game, not national security policy.
Anyway, I’m just thankful (and a little surprised) that Dan G. has been as forthcoming as he has this time around.
Yeah Forza Motorsport 4’s career mode was a bit excessive, especially the double-heat races in the lower classes.
I put over 2000 hours into that game but could only manage around 75% career completion as I couldn’t bear doing so many long races with unchallenging AI.
I had a much better time competing online in Public Lobbies.
I still think this is the most logical solution to the whole thing. Gran Turismo on the PSP also let you adjust the amount of laps, which in turn increased the rewards the longer you raced. Very nice touch.
Agreed, let the user decide how they want to complete the career and assess rewards based on options chosen. At least this way the people who enjoyed the short races would have fun and the people who want longer ones can enjoy the game as well.
I’ve requested this for years, as I recall. I figured it would be unfair for a player running two laps to earn the same XP and CR as I get from ten laps, so I typically suggested having winnings scale along with race distance, though maybe not in linear fashion. In Project CARS I’ve been running 100% distance so I’d do that if I could in Forza, but like the idea of players being able to run shorter races if they like so long as we can still run longer ones.
Yes I completely agree. There are some races in FM5 that I would love to race more laps in and also there are some races that I am glad there are only 2-3 laps, I think Project Cars has this spot on, letting you choose the percentage of a race before you start. I am not too fussed about qualifying but it would be a nice addition mind you.
Maybe you could get a multiplier XP and credit bonus for doing more laps
I just hope they improve FREE PLAY as I found it very limited compared to the options found in the private lobby.
I have only just got Forza 5 although I’ve played since Forza 1.
I was initially disappointed with Free Race due to limitations until I realised you could set up private lobby against AI with all the bells and whistles of Forza 3 and Forza 4
I totally agree about career though. 3 laps is just silly. Let the player have some freedom here. No reason that it should be so restrictive. A simple slider to cater for all on a race by race basis.
While posting I need more Forza friends. Please feel free to add me
A slider is pretty much what everyone wants, even people who like the standard race length wouldn’t mind a slider. For me, it depends what car I’m in our what track I’m on. When I’m driving the lotus E21 I like my race length to be around 1 hr 30 mins long, but if I’m in something like a Corvette ZR1, an hour is fine for me!
pretty much that, a Cr Rewards related slider, mo’ laps, mo’ money
some like short races, others like longer races, I’m sure we would all love shorter races in classes we don’t like much (for me, the higher classes for example) and longer races in classes/races we actually enjoy
