the engines in engine swaps

Could someone from Turn10 please shed some light on this?

What are the engines for the engine swaps in:

70 Dodge Challenger swapping to the
5.9L V8 Racing
6.2L V8

95 Ford SVT Cobra R swapping to the
5.9L V8 Racing
6.2L V8

63 Beetle swapping to the
6.2L V8 Racing

And what is the 4.5L V8 swappable Motor in the 95 vette.

Thanks

Last I remember, the 6.2 is a Chevy small block. I don’t remember the power numbers offhand, but I think it’s the new LT1 (should be making somewhere around 400-450 hp & lb/ft).

I don’t remember the 5.9. Something is telling me it’s a stock car/NASCAR motor, but I could be entirely wrong. It’s been a while.

The 4.5v8 is the Ferrari 458’s v8.

T10 won’t ever flat out say what motor is what. It’d create a whole slew of licensing problems. Think about it, Nissan doesn’t want a game to offer a LS swap into their S chassis, they’d rather have the game show that you can swap 1 of their v8s into the car. So T10 left it generic, but the specs just so happen to match some real motors (if you’re up to par on engine specs).

Yeah, your comment makes more sense than the engine swap list. No offense intended to Manteo who I guess put the list together. He must have put a load off work into compiling the list.

I’ve been doing some swaps and most of the engine weighs just don’t seem to add up. If you swap a 5.9 “Racing” V8 in place of a 426 “Elephant” HEMI your car “gains” 132 pounds. That’s replacing a 7L cast iron behemoth with a 5.9L gazelle. And gaining weight. Does that add up?
And the 5.9 can’t be a NASCAR CUP engine those puppies are 5.8L.

Is the 6.2 the 411lbs LS3?
Or the 465lbs LT1?
Or are all the “engines” programming boilerplate which have to relevance to reality and make turn 10’s job of building the game easier?

You’re probably the most right with your license statement and all we’ll ever “really know” are the lies we make up here and convince each other to believe.

Cheers

358ci (the capacity limit for NASCAR) converts to 5866cc, which rounds up to 5.9L. The weight gain doesn’t quite make sense though (although both are still iron block).

Engine details are in the thread pinned at the top of the Tuners Lounge.
