There’s lots of passionate car people and pure petrolheads in T10 but they’ve always been limited by what MS allows them to do. The original PG team broke away from the clutches of MS long time ago although I don’t know if their focus right now is racing games.
T10 really should be an independent studio and a Codemasters partnership would be a match made in heaven. Maybe we’ll then finally get the quality we’ve been asking for and perhaps even rightfully deserve.
I’m not sure if Microsoft is to blame for this Motorsport.
Seems more like mismanagement and wrong design decisions from the project lead.
CarPG, no Career and the laughable AI at launch were decisions and shortcomings of T10.
While T10 leadership definitely deserves a good but of blame, one has to ask what the hell is going on at XBox under Microsoft. You hear similar stories out of other legacy studios.
We know about the 18 month contractor issue draining institutional knowledge from studios. The obsession with live service models and game pass engagement is definitely impacting design choices that backfire. What else is going on that seems to be putting these studios in positions to fail? Year of development with little to show for it, games released in pretty much alpha states.
This points to structural issues at Microsoft/XBox Gaming. Combine that with T10s leadership’s failures, the outcome I suppose was inevitable.
FedEx has arrived with my answer to MS. new ps5 console, new Logitech pro wheel. I am ready to decommission my Xbox.
it didn’t have to end this way. but it did. after 10 years of Forza and I am done. for what? they are cancelling us for fancy auto-correct.
the same way MS cancelled Mac users with their original Halo release.
why wait around on the eventual demise of this once great tittle? especially since it isn’t Turn10 that did it, it was MS. Screw those guys.
anyway guys… its been fun. if anyone is looking for me, my moniker will remain about the same. say hello if you see me in OMP. you know where I am going (GT).
Gran Turismo 7 is a good game, but is no better game, than FM 2023. The physics is much worse, you just dont feel traction at all. Dumb rolling start everywhere which leads to the weakest AI I’ve ever seen in racing games. The first AI car has 30-40 seconds headstart, you starting dead last, so winning the typical 2-4 laps race is only possible if AI really really really dumb. Which it is.
You will see some competition only closer to the end of the game where you have to race modern race cars (for some reason, they have faster AI). All production cars races in career is like beating small children, on the hardest difficulty setting.
On positive note the game has a lot of fresh tracks for FM (or PC gamers). It has a lot of challenges, licenses, track experience and so on, it is enjoyable experience.
Pg was an independant studio that was then bought by Microsoft, so if anything that got captured. T10 was created by Microsoft to make a gt competitor, theyll never be independent. Codemasters has their own issues as theyre essentially down to one product.
Hello, it would be welcome for an official message from the studio to arrive soon regarding the future because YouTubers and influencers are having a field day with their speculation, which only gives a bad image to Turn10. They say anything and everything without knowing the truth. Avoid watching their videos and listening to their nonsense; they are like you, they absolutely know nothing about what could happen.
Everyones entitled to their opinion. You can hold out hope for an “official” message that will likely never come but im not that type of person.
Theres numerous quotes from various employess both past and present, a list of the effected employees at turn 10 shows most of the active team is gone, the game has been set up to automatically update itself for 2 months ending right after the McLaren contest which they likely have to fulfill, Microsoft has not commented on anything or anyone since they laid people off.
Successful games or even a game with any kind of future doesnt lose half its staff. The game has been out for a year and a half, they fixed most of it, they added some things players wanted, they gave away free tracks and cars, they have not gained any traction.
So if you think a game that has no growth is going to receive updates anything like if at all like they were before from a team that was cut in half, i got a bridge i can sell you.
The game as of now isnt canceled, anyone can buy it and anyone can play it. If you enjoy it then keep doing so, im doing the same. Any official comment would likely say the same thing, “its up and running”. But im certainly not going to ignore the facts that are staring me in the face.
Of course FH and PGr are different games and i didn’t want to compare them so sorry if my text did lead you to a misunderstanding. But in fact PGR was more fun for me than FH was.
Ohterwise with FM 2023 i understand what you mean and it’s your sight from your perspective. But i don’t think that a lot of people have this perspective to see FM 2023 as a good game, otherwise it would have sold better. As i said: it has good graphics, sound effects and physics.
But that’s not enough with the lack of content, a boring menu and nothing more and it’s no wonder what heppened to T10.
There’s nothing ever “great” to be called with FM 2023 and never will be so i also have to totally disagree with you.
The game has still so much issues to be fixed and i doubt they will ever be fixed.
Lol… It IS a much better game… even on a PS4 it is much better than FM 2023. The AI is even worse than in GT 6 oder 5, but still better than in FM 2023. But the best things are: it has a soul and a good game design (Kaz Yamauchi still knows what he’s doing), a real career, it shows the history of cars and motorsport and it has lot of less issues compared to FM 2023.
Yes, GT 7 has also it’s issues but i’ll prefer this game (playing it on the PS4 of my wife) compared it to FM 2023 on my PC with raytracing, even with the fact that FM 2023 looks better.
I preferred PGR too but FH is outstanding also. I guess I’m struggling to see how FM is worse than anything else on the market out there in terms of serious track racers. I have GT7 and I honestly prefer FM. I think GT7 is great also however. I’ve tried Assetto Corsa and wondered what all the fuss is about. Grid isn’t great. Project Cars certainly isn’t better. F1 is F1. Can you point me towards these great track racing games on Xbox that I’m missing out on that are better than FM?
As for sales. Well Xbox hasn’t sold well has it. And FM is on Gamepass. I haven’t purchased it. I happen to like the menu. Much better than FM7 with that awful music. I’m still traumatised by it. Minimal, electronic is right up my street. Let’s be honest. The release was a cockup and it’s never recovered from a downward spiral. And alot of players haven’t either judging by this forum.
I think we probably use the game in very different ways. The only issues that I’ve noticed are an occasional race when the framerate goes right down but this is rare. And sometimes I can’t exit Rivals and I have to reboot the game. The AI isn’t perfect but it has improved. I don’t use tuning, although I might give it a go one day. I use quick upgrade. I use a controller. I don’t play multiplayer but again I might do in the future when I’ve flogged single player to death. I think the single player content is now excellent again after the last update. There are now 73 track layouts from 29 tracks available. That’s quite alot! It is disappointing that tracks from previous editions haven’t made it to this game. And it would be nice to have more new tracks. I’m not sure where you’re coming from with the lack of content issue to be honest. Multiplayer maybe?
I think my usage is probably much more basic than yours and you identify faults in the game in areas that I don’t use. I strongly stand by my view that single player and Rivals are great. Rivals does need more filters though. And it needs an option like Dirt Rally 2 and WRC where you can ‘Find Me’. I’m a million miles from being in the Top 10 and I’m not going to sift through hundreds of players. It would be nice to see what cars other racers are using which aren’t the meta choice (ok Turn 10😁)
