Telemetry is real?

Is telemetry real ? Because i was test driving the Shelby Daytona on Le mans and was testing it, then i opened the telemetry to see the suspension reaction to curbs and didn’t see value change in some curbs despite the controller vibrates and makes the curb sound.

Can someone more expert in this kinda stuff tell me if it’s real and truth what it displays?

I feel like it’s pretty accurate might not be 100%. Might be a bug where that rumble strip is where the tires go through it like it’s still on the race surface. I know Daytona the apron by turn one the tires go through the track surface so whenever they fix that…? I’m no expert btw…:v:

It’s odd because if you don’t accelerate and let the car go really slow the suspension in telemetry doesn’t move at all. Don’t move anything in the controller and you will see. Try doing it on the curbs that are straight the early ones.

If you record a race and watch the telemetry in replay, it is widely off. I hope they improve the telemetry soon and then maybe also add some new stuff to the HUD, like graphs that show suspension travel over time.
I think telemetry is mostly fine in race, though there are some obvious issues. It’s kinda sad, we have so much telemetry data in this game and it’s mostly useless, they definitely have to improve a lot of it.

I didn’t know that. Thanks

Its the way they do replays that makes everything inaccurate. Its not an actual video recording of what happened, its a recreation of data. Im pretty sure it was done to reduce file sizes in the cloud as replays dont save to the hardrive.

That’s a good point, would be great if there was an option to safe the telemetry data to a harddrive for more accuracy. They could still use the wonky data for the shared replays, but would be great if I could at least watch my own replays offline.

True, if you rewind/slow down a replay, the telemetry data doesnt rewind and it is then all completely inaccurate. Last i tested a few months ago anyways.

If they really want this to be a simulator they should provide accurate data for us. Be able to analyze if it’s true the driving physics and that stuff

That would be nice.

To everyone struggling with Telemetry:

Don’t view the replay at all after the race, just save the replay, quit to the main menu then view the saved replay.

Everything should work fine.

Hope this helps!

I usually tune on the fly w osc (onscreen) telemetry while in free run or whatever. Pause the game and make my adjustments and continue. It cant be that off…? Or is it?

Is there a difference saving the replay and exiting the race and then watching the replay…? Vs watching it right after the race? I mean almost every replay I watched regardless has never been accurate to begin with.

Are you sure? I cant remember how i did it previously so that might be the case.

One thing I noticed was the gear selection and speed were incorrect when viewing right after a race vs saving right after the race, exiting, and then going to view the replay from the main menu.

As far as I know, the incorrect gear selection and speed telemetry is fixed when using the method. I’ll have to check to see if everything else lines up.

Edit: Everything checks out, but I can’t confirm if suspension telemetry is accurate for the same reason as OP. There isn’t a noticeable oscillation over curbs. I can rewind and do whatever and the rest of the telemetry follows though.

I wouldn’t trust the replay telemetry, I was testing a C6 ZR1, noticed the supercharger whine was nice sounding when I upshifted to a higher gear and the exhaust wasn’t drowning it out. Drove laps staying on 5th or 6th gear at full and partial throttle. Replay had me flooring it and in 1-6 gear, had downshifts and everything, even though I stayed in one gear🤦‍♂️
