Support for Steam Deck

Thank you for your incredible work!!

Turn10’s Dan Greenawalt shared his perspective:

Motorsport is it’s got a unique point of view. it’s about mastery. it’s about competition. it’s about pushing that car to its limits and pushing as a driver to your limits. we emphasize accessibility and making the game easy for everyone to play; however, there’s always that depth when your looking for that next bit of challenge.

The Steam Deck, with its portability and high accessibility, fits perfectly into this vision. If accessibility is a key priority, supporting the Steam Deck should be a top priority.

Accessibility issues should not be decided by majority vote. Turn10 has implemented a system to support visually impaired players, and I believe they should prove that this effort is more than just a performance.

Please, do not buy this game if you plan to play on Steam Deck.
Wait for Turn 10 to make something (better play on Windows or SteamOS compatiblity). As of now, the game is just unplayable. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
it’s really crazy that FH4 or FM7 works so well and that FM8 is unplayable

You couldn’t have said it better, or pointed to more compelling evidence. Turn10, fix your game.

Now that Microsoft is opening up their games to all platforms so the time is ripe for Turn10 to get Forza Motorsport working on Steam Deck.

Turn10, can we get an update on this??

Is there anyway to @ them so that they can see it?

It’s interesting they slightly updated the Steam Deck FAQ, yet they still aren’t addressing the Motorsport issue

Hmm that is interesting indeed.

Lack of Linux support at this point is insane.

If the game is for sale on Steam and the rest of the franchise is expanding to other platforms, I don’t understand how it’s still not possible to run the game on SteamOS or any other Linux distribution.

At this point, it’s practically the only thing keeping me tied to W11.

I abandoned playing it for this reason. The only way forward is to be inclusive.

Wow. I can’t believe this thread has been going on for so long and still turn10 hasn’t given you a response. Surely they could have Motorsport up and running on deck on less than a day if they wanted to. I guess they don’t want to sell their products

It certainly makes you wonder.

Gears of War Reloaded appears to use Gaming Services and other MS Store dependences, but works on Steam Deck since The Coalition added an alternative code path for it. On regular desktop Linux, it fails to log into Microsoft, unless you add the SteamDeck=1 %command% launch parameters.

So my theory is Forza Motorsport needs it for logging into Microsoft and saving progress. In that case, they should have just made it use the same Microsoft login method that FH4/FH5 use. In any case though, they should update the game to do what GoW: Reloaded did.

And based off this info, my theory is that Microsoft is going to use this method for future titles on Steam Deck/SteamOS like how PlayStation does with the pspcsdk in their titles.

FM devs: take note. This is the fix you need.
