Been playing some more around wit trial cars, along with already tuned Ferrari and Lotus, did also try, Austin Sprite and Mini, both work well too.
Special challenge is Peel, where P50 is totally useless, so Trident is what you want. Bit hard to drive if you bump something, but otherwise … fast.
So Trident tune if anyone wants to try it - 270 978 439

Oh, I totally understand and I wasn’t trying to sass anyone. The ‘lazy’ reference was more about some of my decently-prestiged teammates slumming it in the back, not making any effort, not even to block. And I don’t really ‘know’ for certain either, trial car selection often seems a bit nebulous to me as it is (why do we have to figure this out ourselves, you shouldn’t have needed to ask to begin with, right?) and honestly I half expected to be told I’m mistaken; I just posted going off what I experienced first-hand to maybe save someone else the trouble. There was only one other player in those three races that didnt rent the ferarri; it was a Mini and he was a little faster on the circuits, a little slower on the sprint…though on the sprint a rental player surged and caught right up at the end, to ziperPL’s point.

And like someone else commented, I also noticed a considerable reduction of inter-team ramming (though on the first circuit during the first trial, this one clown up ahead of me going into lap 3 apparently noticed he was going to get lapped, and went clear off course toward the center of the circuit and waited for me to approach that first hard turn and come to a near stop…and darted right for me trying to ram but the poor fool ghosted and missed…pathetic).

You guys talk about effort and such in trials … there is some, some are just along for the ride and some …
put an effort to even drive in opposite way
[Mod Edit - do not attempt to name/shame other players on the forums, report instances to Xbox or Forza Support and let them handle it - MM]
Already put in a ticket about those two clowns.

Those are very political screenshots!

Was about to post this prime example of teammates :stuck_out_tongue:
But now it is even better, because you have screenshots.

For the “classic rally rumble” I used the 73 Escort RS1600. I downloaded a tune by ozwillinmel and it absolutely killed it, I easily ran away with first.

I’m normally not this fast on the draw with the Trial, but I had a bit of insomnia. But with all that, I’ve got the Trial, PGG, Weekly, and the Stunts. Enjoy!

Weekly Challenge:

  • Own and drive any Rally Monster car
  • Earn 20 Ultimate Drift or E-Drift Skills in your Rally Monster
    Car Used: `17 M-Sport Fiesta
    Tune: Snowplow - 911 879 587

I only picked this car as it was the first Rally Monster that had a tune on it. Feel free to pick any Rally Monster. For the Drifts, I decided to take my car to the airstrip and just hoon it on the grass and the drag strip until I got my 20.

  • Earn a total of 15 stars from Speed Zones in your Rally Monster
One downside to this tune is it’s an S1 and only has a top speed of 170 or so. What I did was went to the Croft Speed Zone (same one as the weekly) entering from the south, then going west and south down to the Bridlewood Speed Zone (just west of Croft). Just did that loop until I got enough starts.

  • Win 3 Dirt Racing Series events in your Rally Monster
    Courses Used:
    Lighthouse Rush - 123 381 778
    Broadway Dirt Drags - 132 053 628
    Festival Flingings - 429 309 919

The first track on this list is at the Goliath starting point is the same as one I previously made, just set for Anything Goes. Just follow the road and go for the lighthouse. Second one is at the usual Broadway dirt spot. Again it’s a simple follow-the-road and ignore the AI’s path. The third one is at the Cotswolds Road Rally spot, but goes through the Festival. This one’s a little trickier, as after the AI zigs right, they might come back and T-Bone you at the next intersection.

SEASONAL EVENTS

  • The Trial Co-Op Championship: “Fun-Sized” | Road Racing | (C600) Blueprint Theme: Micro-Mayhem
    Car Used: Lotus Elan
    Tune: Simplify - 103 781 786

I had intended on trying to build an Isetta for the lulz, but I could not get it to tune to C-class with either the base engine or replacement engines (it seemed to skip from D to B or A.) Instead, I went with the Elan. Once I started this Trial and saw the Drivatars’ Rush of Barchettas (yes, that should be the proper term for a group of Barchettas), I was worried I picked the wrong car. It was a bit difficult on Wind Farm Circuit, as it didn’t have quite the oomph going up the steeper hills. Got sixth on that first one, but I got solid seconds on the other courses and my team swept.

  • Seasonal Playground Games: Bamburgh Castle | (B700) Hot Hatch
Car Used: 2003 Volkswagen Golf R32
    Tune: Kreigswagen - 156 365 224

I went with the R32 because it’s a Hot Hatch I’d not used yet and it started with AWD. Was able to throw on the dirt/rally goods, tune it up a bit, and it seemed to carve through the dunes at Bamburgh Castle beach just fine.

  • PR Stunt: The Great Ridge Danger Sign | 915.4 feet
    Car Used: Jeep Trailcat
    Tune: Flatout - 130 018 811

I usually have issues getting the jump lined up just so on this one, but I was able to get it perfect on the first go this time.

  • PR Stunt: Wesloch Speed Trap | 140.0 mph
    Car Used: Koenigsegg CCGT
    Tune: Zoner - 160 891 674

I was tempted to throw my King Cobra at this one, but decided to do the CCGT first. Came in from the Northeast and just floored it. Definitely crushed the required 140.

  • PR Stunt: Croft Speed Zone | 110.0 mph
    Car Used: Jeep Trailcat
    Tune: Flatout - 130 018 811

After taking one look at Croft, I knew my King Cobra was going to be too squirrley to do this. So I grabbed my Trailcat again and got a running start from south, a little past the farm at the intersection. took a couple tries, but once I got the rhythm of the corners right, it just clicked.

Now, back to the mines to do the Championships. And after the Monthly Rivals, I can’t wait until next week to see what I can do with the Puma.

I enjoyed this week’s challenges…and since I love making ungainly beasts into race vehicles, I was especially happy with seeing the “Out for the Count” challenge with Heavy Hitters.

Thank you ManteoMax for posting the list of cars…however, after gearing up and tricking out a Bentley 8-Liter, I was sad to see that the event would not let me run it.

Weekly Challenge: - 1985 Ford RS200 Evo. For the Ultimate Drift challenge, I took it to the fields outside of Fairlawn Manor and just racked them up in short time. Plenty of room for long sweeping drifts.

PR Stunt Speed Trap and Danger Sign - 1973 AMC Gremlin X Tune: 903 936 311
“Old Faithful” did it again. I first came at the trap from the South but didn’t line it up right, turned it around and flew through it from the North. For the Danger Sign, this one is tricky. So many bumps to unsettle your car on approach. I cheat toward the left side of the trail going up, then just near the top square up and hit the jump.

PR Stunt Speed Zone - 1985 Ford RS200 Evo. For this one, I start from the North, with a little room to get to speed. Go through the bends first, then straighten it out and head towards the farm. Came in about 4mph over.

The Trial - “Fun-Sized” - 1965 Mini Cooper S. Tune: 641 831 045 Livery: 391 759 428
I chose the Mini partially just because I have a neat livery for it…lol. Tuned it up fast but a little slippery. Faced another “Rush of Barchettas” (thank you Gator). Easily stormed the front. My only competition was an Abarth 595 Esseesse that was slightly faster and a whole lot more slippery than me. I kept in second mostly to not get collected in an accident but would take the lead through a bad corner or three. Other than that, beat the Barchettas pretty easily. Might see if I can get it a little grippier at the expense of some speed. I also want to try to set up an Isetta just for fun.

Playground Games - 2003 Golf R32. Still had this tuned up from the other week, so why not. AWD, upgraded tires and not much else. Maneuvered well enough, could avoid pursuers but had a tough time reeling in opponents. I might try to squeeze in some rally shocks as it was rough keeping an even pace over the terrain.

Rally Rumble D500 - 1973 Ford RS1600. Tweaked it a little, Felt under-performing but it is D500 after all. The circuit race was the toughest for me, kept things close, and didn’t get into the lead til halfway through the second lap. For the two sprints, it may not have picked up right away but it had good legs and was able to chase down and easily pass the leaders.

Word on the Street - 2016 Mazda MX-5 / 1969 Nissan Fairlady Z 432 Tune: 417 147 865 - Nissan
Ran the Mazda for the first race. It had better numbers but took til near the end to get in the lead. Ran the Nissan for the last two. Way more grip than needed, but it suited the courses just fine. Beat everyone on the turns, then pulled away. I might try to optimize it to get a little more speed by giving up some grip. We’ll see.

Out for the Count - 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha. Tune: 160 805 923 Livery: 655 848 160
2016 Jeep Trailcat Tune: 228 168 177

This might get long-winded…so tune out now, lol. As with the Mini, I ran the Hummer because I love the livery (Queen of Hearts) but I also just wanted to see what this beast could do. Wasn’t quick, but got under way, held its own, and got to the front of the pack pretty readily. Once it hit the fields, it was able to take the lead and hold it til the end. Need to take turns a little wide so you can keep the RPM up or you will slide out til next Wednesday. Ran it a few times, then I noticed that the Trailcat was also allowable. It wasn’t even fair. The Trailcat devoured the course. Took the two sprints in under 2 minutes each. The railyard circuit took a few seconds longer but still took first easily. I have a prepped Bentley 8-Liter all set up and waiting, but sadly, it is apparently not allowed. Might run the course on its own just to see how it does. I also prepped up a Nissan Titan Warrior Concept. Haven’t run it yet, but it has the best numbers of all of them. This is probably the one, aside from the Trailcat, that will do the best. And man alive, I want to try the Iron Knight…but it’s so close to the limit already, there’s little room for tweaking. But still, just to do it. Did I tell you I like running ungainly beasts? lol

Edit: My Bentley was too light!! I had removed too much weight from it so it no longer qualified. After messing around, I found that it had to be over 4500 lbs running weight. I made a few adjustments, eased off one level of body weight reduction and changed the turbo for a supercharger…same HP but it weighed more. And I finished with a 4502-lb 865hp 737 ft-lb champion. Not quite as fast as the Trailcat, finished just over 2 mins on the sprints but did world’s better on the railyard circuit than the Hummer. Don’t run it so much as an off-roader but run it like a rally car. Omg, so much fun. So now I’m happy…off to the Iron Knight…lol

1931 Bentley 8-Liter A800 Tune: 124 263 366 Rally O’Bentley - it’s geared really low, might ease it up a little to try to put in a faster run.

Oh, Gator…I did up an Isetta. It comes in at C597. You can do a tire upgrade OR an engine upgrade but not both, shoots it to B-level instantly. Even doing the tire upgrades first doesn’t budge the rating from D100 til you start adding engine improvements. It’s odd. It’s AWD, supercharged (+8hp lol), with the thickest race tires you can put on. I’m still tooling around with the set-up but I could take first in Moorland at Expert level. Haven’t run it higher than that yet…it’s squirrely as all get-out. lol

Nitro Glitter has a page at Forza Support listing Car Types and Themes:

The Themes part is written By ManteoMax e.g.

Barn Finds
Reasonably Priced Cars - cars valued 25,000 CR or less
Forza Favorites - game box cover cars from the Forza game history
Collector’s Series - rare and collectible models
World’s Fastest Cars - historic and modern record holders
Evo vs Impreza Race Off
Heavy Hitters - cars weighing over 4,400 lbs
AMG vs M Sport Race Off
High Rollers - cars valued 1+ million credits
Tuner’s Choice - European and JDM favorites among tuners
Ferrari vs Lamborghini Race Off
Ford vs Holden Race Off
Iconic Movie Cars - James Bond, Dukes of Hazard, etc
Homologation Heroes - race bred cars for the street

It must be difficult trying to come up with different challenges each week and of course from ManteoMax’s Spreadsheet it’s fairly easy for players to compile their own lists based upon certain criteria.

Some of the themes may require a bit of extra research e.g. Iconic Movie cars - Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, John Wick, Fast & Furious, Gone in Sixty Seconds etc.

See if it helps you do the challenges

I got a Tune up for the 65 Mini. Won all 6 races (had to run the trial twice until someone else could pull a top 3) Got off easy this week. Just search my username, Nutbarz.

Starting this series I have a strange glitch for two of the six new cars (Nissan Pulsar and the red Toyota).
Both cars don’t have the name over the photo (in series reward section and in Horizon promo list) as in this example
Has someone the same glitch?

This is probably a bug that is occurring in some language settings other than English.
I’m playing FH4 with Japanese language settings, and I’m experiencing a similar bug.

hi guys im struggling to find my total mileage to unlock the barn find but i cannot see it anywhere

Bikemaniac,

If you go into Horizon Life, one of the lower left tabs says “Stats”. Click on that and it brings you to a series of tabs with all your performance stats. Forget which tab it is, but the Total Miles Driven stat is near the top so you should see it just by clicking across.

You can also check your Star Card progress, one of the first two lists your mileage as well, since one of the goals is 5000 miles.

The championships were quite fun this week. I will admit two of my builds look silly and the third looks ludicrous. But they all work, and that’s what matters.

  • Championship: “Classic Rally Rumble” | Dirt Racing | (D500) Classic Rally
    Car Used: 1964 Mini Cooper
    Tune: Bean(us) - 152 476 492

This was not my initial attempt. That was with a RWD Escort RS1800. It did good on the first race, but it had NO grip on the second race and could barely muster an 8th. Realizing that the car wasn’t going to work in D-class, I looked to see what the AI was kicking my rear with. It was a Fulvia. So I went with second place, which was a Mini. Surprisingly, it’s rather stable with a rally lights, a wide-body kit and max width rear tires. It doesn’t seem to affect the steering of it too much, either.

  • Championship: “Out for the Count” | Cross Country | (A800) Blueprint Theme: Heavy Hitters
Truck Used: 2017 Ford F150 Raptor
    Tune: Eagles! - 325 475 762
    (Bonus!) Paint Job: 'Murica! - 873 360 397

I was tempted to do this with one of my Bentleys, but I can never make a good off-roader with them. I had done the paint job long ago and never shared it, so I decided to make a tune to match. Truck’s got 10 gears, but it only uses six before it won’t go any more. Corners great, good off the line, and good mid-range acceleration.

  • Championship: “What’s the Word on the Street?” | Street Scene | (B700) Country: Japan
Car Used: 1993 Nissan 240SX SE
    Tune: Overnight - 821346 404

While I had my choice of good JDM cars, something pulled me to the 240. Again I threw on a body kit and thicc rears. Drives very good through the turns and definitely has the speed to keep up.

On the bonus side for myself, this week marked me having enough tunes to make Level 5 for the Star Card. Now I just need to focus on Blueprints, Paint Jobs, and Photos.

Gator, I was determined to race my Bentley 8-Liter just cuz. Had to fool around with the weight settings because I kept making it too light and it wouldn’t let me select it for the run.

I found that it had to be over 4500 lbs running weight. So I finished with a 4502-lb 865hp 737 ft-lb champion. Finished just over 2 mins on the sprints but did world’s better on the railyard circuit than my Hummer. Don’t run it so much as an off-roader but run it like a rally car. Omg, so much fun.

1931 Bentley 8-Liter A800 Tune: 124 263 366 Rally O’Bentley - it’s geared really low, might ease it up a little to try to put in a faster run.

Give it a shot, it’s fun. Or just ask and I’ll tell you how I modified it and you can tune it up yourself. Speaking of, so how many tunes does it take to get to Rank 5? I keep tuning my stuff but I don’t save most of them unless they really stand out.

Also went with wanting to do a Bentley 8 litre once I saw it in the list, mostly to see if it could even work as a cross country car. I was a little slow on getting back to it, but have a tune now.

My first attempt I had the same issue as ‘IngoingCake8592’ in that I forgot that “Heavy Hitters” goes by final tuned weight, not starting weight, opposite to I think it is “Reasonably Priced” where only starting price matters, not the end result. So first build was too light (I wonder if this means there is some cars not on the list that could be tuned into “Heavy Hitters” by making them heavier?).

I really wish you could make the this Bentley stay as 8 litres and get it to the top of A class, but alas not possible, the best you can do to get close to 8L is the V12 with max displacement at 7L, this is not what I used however. My original ‘turns out it was too light’ build used the inline 6 (like the sound), however in making it heavier the 6 missed the full A800 mark, in the end I used the 6.2L V8.

Was not happy with how it handled, yes it could win the seasonal Heavy Hitter event (Pro difficulty (I am not great at Unbeatable, making it hard to judge if problems are me or tune), Steering: Simulation, ABS: on, Traction/Stability; Off, Gearbox: Auto) and was amazing good at the railyard track (the track I felt it would struggle with) - car/tune is weight biased towards the front as might be expected, yet driving it was too tail friendly on corners - skinny tires plus grass, even if rally tires is my guess as to the main reason why (did not have the same issue at the railyard). Back to adjustments, decided to experiment with making a AWD - FWD style tune which I feel works great, far easier to control, will still swing into corners yet can be pulled back into line quickly. Ran all event tracks on Pro, no issue winning, again really good at the railyard (grass and skinny tires still make the car problematic for cross country). Acts a lot like a FWD, very much tends to go where the front wheels are pointed.

Unbeatable at the railyard should be possible, I can not manage it however (at 3 laps) run out of time catching the 2 front runners, more practice may get me there, currently my skill is a little below what is needed.

This car has a trick, really great at J-turns.

Tune: 6.2L V8, AWD, rally ties/suspension, no aero. A800 CC Rally (540 392 799).

Enjoy.

I am somewhat amused at all these posts claiming the Mini or Arbath as “leaving the Barchetta’s” for dust.

Have done quite a few Trials and with the odd loss of the first race (only a couple) i have won first place in the Barchetta quite easily, leaving the Arbath and Mini for peanuts.

On long straights and tight corners along with uphill climbs the Arbath and Mini lack considerable power. The Barchetta easily does it without losing speed.

The Lotus is nice for this Trial but lacks top speed against the Barchetta, it too should easily beat the Mini and Arbath.

Maybe the Mini is an easy go to car along with the Arbath but they are not the “best” car for the trial by a long shot.

I have noticed that you can get a nice speed out of the Mini and Arbath but you have to forgive stability/handling to do it and that makes the cars undrivable on tracks with variable corners (especially for those not that adept at driving).

Going to stick with the Barchetta being the most able and capable car in this Trial.

I had the opposite experience. I found the top speed of the abarth insurmountable. I was able to win race 2 easily because of the handling but got 2nd or 3rd in the other two because the abarth blasted by on the straights.
