Sometimes when playing Horizon Arcade i experience freeloaders who do contribute nothing in order to gain Forzathon points. It is quite infuriating because you have to contribute additional points to complete rounds as opposed to playing Horizon Arcade on your own with no other players.
I have a suggestion to deal with these freeloaders:
When Horizon Arcade starts, if they aren’t in the target area for an amount of seconds, relative to the distance they have to travel to the target area, they’ll automatically get kicked out of Horizon Arcade. If one player fast travels, other players get the optional choice to fast travel too, even if they don’t have that perk.
If they are in the target area but not contributing a certain amount of points to the rounds, they get kicked out of Horizon Arcade and receive no Forzathon Points when it completes. (Points contributed would have to be a percentage of the total as if they were playing Horizon Arcade without other players, for example, contribute 50% points (or higher) to a drift zone round that requires 100.000 points to complete on your own, which is 50.000 points or higher), while the group total for say two people is 200.000 points. Make it a higher percentage if more than 2 people are participating in a Horizon Arcade.
If one player finishes a drift zone before the other players can contribute their points while drifting, then they are exempt from being kicked.
Late entry to a Horizon Arcade exempts you for the current round or the next round if the current round finishes seconds after you joined.
Sometimes people get stuck in them unintentionally. Many times I’ll have everything hidden on the map except what I’m doing and accidentally enter one. What they need is an option to quit it. That way, I never get stuck in one I have no intentions of doing.
There’s a Quit event button in the pause menu. I used it yesterday to leave someone doing donuts instead of the drift zone. The game gave me the points for the first round since I completed it.
I haven’t done arcade with anyone since it was fixed. I don’t think this is an issue as much as it was previously because it’s really easy now. So if people are asking I think they are wasting their own time if anything.
Getting tired of this, too. There were especially a lot of freeloaders yesterday. I encountered 3 freeloaders in one event. I was working on the goal and noticed the other 3 parked so I parked and waited for them to help out. 2 just stayed in the target area and the third drove away and parked far away so he wouldn’t be seen. One finally started helping but it was too late at that point. I’ve just been “blocking” them once the event is over so I hopefully won’t have to play with them again. I’ve noticed most of these freeloaders either only have few followers or low gamerscores so are probably new to Xbox.
I like your second suggestion of kicking someone out that isn’t contributing a certain amount to the total. The issue with this is someone may not be as good or have the wrong car for the event and this would unfairly penalize them. They should be “active” in the current event. If it’s drift skills, they should be in the drift area drifting. If it’s drift zone points, they should be drifting back and forth in the drift zone. If it’s Danger Sign, the game should track if they’re launching., etc. I don’t know how difficult it would be to program these but something should be done.
Had my first one earlier on, they arrived late to the speed event, sat in the middle of the stadium while I did Limit Breaker for 2 solo, went through the speed trap once then drove towards the speed zone and stopped knowing I was going to get it done on my own.
The strangest thing was I seen them in some forgettable car before it began then they came back in driving a Jesko, I mean what was the point of that? If you’re going to be a lazy so and so trying to leech 30/60 quick FP don’t be even more of a jerk by trying to appear like you intend to chip in.
In future I will be stopping myself unless it’s Thursday and I’m getting the playlist requirement done.
It amuses me that people would rather double their time to get the points instead of helping and getting them faster, but that’s the Horizon community for you. Yet another one of PG’s ideas based on “let’s be friends!” which fails miserably because the community simply does not care.
if i am solo i will quit the event as soon as others show up who are not helping
if there is a group and people are not helping i just go park my car next to those who are not helping and wait it out
i have over 2000 FP
so, it is not like i need them right now and i dont really spend them anyways
the FP are easy to obtain as most of the time the arcades are empty for me
I’ve never understood why there has never been scoreboard at the end of Arcade. That way, with a competitive element you will find everyone pulling their weight or looking shift at the end collecting their 60 points. Maybe even a 10 point bonus for being top?
Do you get points for doing nothing? I thought I read a while ago the devs fixed it in FH5 so players who score no points in one or more Arcade events get no points for those events.
You still get points for being in it at all. The difference between now and FH4’s Forzathon Live is that not participating is now actively encouraged, as all of the accolades requiring stars from skill zones can be done in any arcade, so you can get accolades by ignoring the requirements entirely, and it is even better because you have more time to get said stars. I’ve just finished that grind, and now likely won’t bother with arcades again. At least there are only ever one or two people you might be annoying by not taking part. Maybe that was the plan all along!
What I’ve been doing recently is playing stage 1 to just before I complete it. I’ll then wait for the two minutes to join to expire. If someone joins in before then, I’ll wait to see if they help or are freeloaders. If freeloaders, I’ll send them the following message, “I guess you’re not going to help” and park. When they read the message, they’ll usually drop out. If they don’t, I’ll just stay parked until the event is over. Either way no one gets points, and they will hopefully keep in mind no one wants freeloaders and will help in the future. I’ll also “Block” the freeloaders so I hopefully won’t have to play with them again.
As I stated in a prior post, as long as they’re trying, I’ll help out. I’ve had two instances where the players didn’t know how to drift but they were there trying. I covered their portion and we all got points.
