Stuttering/FPS Drops. . .

Anyone got any temp fixes for the random stuttering? I’ve tried overlocking and underclocking my GPU, increasing virtual memory, shader cache on and off, MSI Afterburner on/off…nothing seems to stop the intermittent stuttering/FPS drops during racing? Seems worse after last patch…

I5 2500k
Gtx 970
8GB Ram

I am also having stuttering issues, even lowering the settings does not help. Closing down MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner were the most helpful things for me as they reduced the stuttering quite significantly, although it does still happen.

Apparently many (but not all) are having issues with the latest Nvidia drivers (388.13 and the hotfix driver) as these drivers introduce stuttering in some games. I myself experienced the stutter in almost all games I tried play, so I had to revert back to 388.00 as they seemed to smooth out the games I had problems with. Maybe try reverting back if you have those drivers?

One last thing today I received an email from Turn 10 asking me to provide some more details, as well as informing me that they are currently looking into the stuttering/hitching issue, so that is a good sign. It seems they may be finally concentrating on the issue once and for all. Let’s hope.

Yeah I reverted back to 375 driver I believe it is, last one before 388, it did seem better but not perfect…

I’m also running 388. The game is currently straight up unplayable. The constant stuttering makes turning a total nightmare. I tried the Formula Ford cup, and I just keep crashing, spinning etc, because I can’t react in time when the game inevitably stutters at a crucial moment like the final turn at Spa.

Same problem after the last update. Stuttering every 5 - 10 seconds… and unplayable. Didn’t have that problem before. I7 4790K., 32GB RAM, RX480 *8GB

A friend of mine with a 970 and 24GB RAM experienced bad stuttering.

He had to pretty much turn off Anti Aliasing and set Anisotropic to 2x to get a playable result.

With my 1070 + 2500 (non K) 16GB RAM, I get the occasional stutter for a half second or much much less and it does not have a huge impact for me, even running triple monitors.

Thanks for this, I’ll certainly try the above by lowering my Anti-aliasing setting, tbh I can’t see anisotropic filtering making an impact as this hasn’t had an impact on fps on modern systems/gpu’s for years!

8 gigs of ram is not enough, I see more than 13 gigs of ram in usage after couple of hours of playing.

It was enough for them to put it as Recommended specs.

The game will always use up more ram if your system has it, that why some people are reporting upto 30gb ram usage on a system with 32gigs of ram.

Recent beta MSI Afterburner, and RTSS do indeed work with direct x12…

Ok i am gonna try rivaTuner with Dx12 games to see if works…

It must be the latest beta version, other wise it won’t overlay during gameplay of dx12 games…

I sownloaded the latest version 7 , does not say beta its final version…

I found that it loads everytime with Forza 7 if ts in stealth mode otherwise sometime the rtss would not show.

Do you have the latest beta, I think it’s beta 19? RTSS is beta 29 if I remember correctly? mine is set pretty much as default and it shows everytime? Don’t think it’s on stealth?

The stuttering is caused by the game maxing out the available VRAM. The best ways to combat it are textures, resolution and AA. Turn them down.
