Still blacked out cars after months already… will it be patched?

Hi,

its been like this for months now actually.

As soon as you tuned or painted a car it turns „blacked out“.

It looks horrible and far from being next gen.

I also don‘t believe the story about day / night tuning.

That makes no sense at all.

Lets hope they finally fix this issue.

This is going to be moved to the suggestions thread to die.

I agree, it really bugs me on a big 4k tv.

Funny, a daily challenge last series was paint your car, so I’m sure a ton more people experienced this.

Graphically this game seems to have degraded over time. Yes they added ray tracing and whatnot but they manage to add in about 80 graphical bugs since launch. At launch everything else was bugged but at least the graphics were good.

Graphics were always screwed for me since day 1. Ive noticed as my fps drops due to whatever reasons my Graphics degrade in quality. But few updates ago seemed to have made my fps more stable somehow on my amd card.

I remember when the game launched i opened up a ticket because my game ran like crap. And i wrote about the degraded graphics grain like issue and the response was: yes we are aware of that.

Is yours something like that? View the pic on pc if possible to spot it
And this was when the game launched i dont get that harshly degraded graphics now. But the game requires you to run at least on high/ultra and anything lower means significantly crappier graphics, pop in issues…

The game looks great otherwise - really can‘t complain on Xbox Series X.

But the blacked out cars in the garage do puzzle me extremely.

It can‘t be the intention of Playground / to have their game like this :weary:

I think a community manager on reddit saw it so the devs probably know about it. Next Monday, Tuesday should be the next update show so :eyes:. There is a chance they’ll fix it but who knows

How much y’all wanna bet that the “built from the ground up” upcoming motorsport will have this glitch? Should we get a pool going?

Could the reason for the black windows be because players requested extended night times but didn’t specify where?

A research data function  "How do we know how many people have this bug, and how many of them care ? If only there was a way we could make everyone paint… :bulb: " :smirk:

Just remembered the FH5 known issues list exists so it is there. Its been 5 months since it was added

fwiw… I was curious, couldn’t recall if I’d noticed or not when it first started. Had a quick look through garage and couldn’t see any examples of it. Even painted that '73 Alpine real quick and it didn’t do it. So, like all bugs, it’s tricky, doesn’t always affect everyone, I guess. Data point if it matters : on XBox One

I was trying to test this but on my xsx main account it doesn’t happen when I’m in solo vs horizon life. Alt account doesn’t follow this though. On my x1x I haven’t had the prob.

Finally found a workaround to the blacked out bug.

Just remove the livery / tune and apply it again. Don‘t know why but it does fix the visuals.

Quick, someone pass this on to pgg since they seem to be incapable of finding a workaround themselves

Now we need such a method with the special gifted cars with onetime paintjobs
(the ugly sweater viper, the Halloween Lotus, Kwick Fit Buggy, Firework Chevrolet, Chinese NewYear Jaguar, Gaypride Pagani etc.)?

As soon as I tune them on my XBox sX, (which one needs to do for the gifted paint to be displayed in the garage thumbnail) they receive black matte opaque windows in FH5 (not in FH4, though).
Randomly these mattblack glass surfaces become transparent again after another tuning, but sadly not always.

And in another 5 months it will be moved to “Won’t fix or by design”.
That’s just the spirit of Horizon, shall we send a ‘Thank you!’?

Ok, this is a bummer

@ManteoMax
Maybe you can pass my workaround tip to the devs so they have a clue for a conplete fix for everyone

Update March 28th:

  • Fixed an issue with cars thumbnails being generated with black headlights and windows
    • Developer’s Notes: Since thumbnails are generated locally, players with those corrupted thumbnails would need to edit their car (any modification would suffice, like changing paint, or livery or tuning). This process would force the system to re-generate the thumbnail which will be shown correctly afterwards.

I wonder how many combined player hours will be spent fixing this issue. At least for those that care. Hundreds? Thousands? Seems like a great way to boost playtime metrics. This is some next level bug fixing.

I thought this was supposed to be fixed? Doesn’t seem fixed to me, since half my garage still has blacked out windows and lights.
