Steering difference between wheel vs controller

Hi,

Is it possible to have the same kind of steering assists that exist on an Xbox controller by default?
What I mean by that is NOT the related steering assist settings in the difficulty menus, but the one that exists for the controller by default (and is active at all times regardless of setting as long as you use a controller).

I noticed that the steering behaviour was radically different from a controller vs a steering wheel and started to look into why.

By using the telemetry option (T button on PC, first page - general) and going back and forth on the road with both the controller and the steering wheel, I noticed that the controller has a built in that protects the driver from oversteering. Basically I did this:

  1. Turn on telemetry
  2. With the controller, go back and forth on a road and turn the joystick to max each side, slowly increasing speed.
  3. Notice that the “Steering” parameter in the Telemetry never goes beyond a certain point (depending on the speed).
  4. Do the same with a steering wheel and notice that you can go past that point at all times regardless of the speed.

This behaviour does not change with either steering assist, normal or simulation.

Was it like this in previous Horizon 3?
Would it be considered cheating if I emulated my steering wheel as an Xbox controller? Why?
How else would I have this oversteer “protection” using a steering wheel? I suppose the force feedback is supposed to hint about this? I have force feedback completely turned off since I haven’t found a good setting for it yet.

I’m gaming on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller and a Logitech G29 steering wheel.

Well it must be quite hard to make different controllers competitive. And they did their best to give a chance to everyone.
