Thrustmaster tx wheel user, have latest firmware installed and the manual with clutch activated by holding the A button and mode button together ( confirmed by flashing red light).
My question is how do you guys prevent the car from stalling when downshifting multiple gears with the paddle shifters? The civic in the ghost leagues really magnifies this issue for me… To the point where I had to disengage the auto clutch mode.
Am I missing something?
Cheers.
either you are not blipping the throttle with the clutch or if you are you are downshifting too fast and or too many times.
How do I time the throttle blip as the program holds the a button in, I actually don’t touch the clutch ?
Personally, I use manual (without clutch) when using the paddles (which I always use).
For most modern vehicles you won’t notice a significant delay in shifting. Yes, some of the older vehicles will have a “lag” while shifting; however, if you time your shifts correctly, you won’t have any major delays (up-shift while braking, etc…)
The real advantage to using the paddles and downshifting through each gear is, if you’ve tuned your vehicle appropriately, the added benefit of engine braking.
It shouldn’t be possible to stall while changing down. In fact you’d be doing the complete oposite to stalling.
So, either you’ve a problem with your inputs from your wheel or pedals or, more likely, you’re downshifting a bit too early and locking up. The cars do vary a lot. Some you can mash through the gears as quickly as you like but some are very sensitive to road speed and the gear you’re selecting -this coupled with low traction can give the effect that the engine has died but its just turning over slowly.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve played with it some more and seem to have found a better balance when downshifting, as I believe you were all correct and I was grabbing too many gears too quickly all while trying to push the braking zone farther than I should with an understear prone speed tune on a fwd car. Note: I haven’t driven an fwd car since FM4.
Again thanks for the help.
