Is there a way to have your Spotify account linked to your Microsoft account so that you can have the option to listen to your own playlists in-game?
This will allow almost infinitely greater variety of personalised music to be enjoyed by players, and will take a lot of the owness off the licensing department’s workforce, freeing them up to make bigger world content instead of focusing on getting the 50 or so songs across 5 radio stations.
Understand it might be difficult, but believe it would be well worth the effort. Could be ground breaking too - how many other games have this option???
There isn’t that option, but it would be a great suggestion for the next game. Spotify DOES have an API that can be used for that kind of purpose. The API is used to easily incorporate Spotify in other apps and websites, though I have not seen it implemented inside of a game. I would love to see this in the next Horizon and I also have a couple other suggestions that relate to this:
-
This may be tricky, but it would be nice to seamlessly include all the DJ banter in between the Spotify songs
-
This can be implemented using specially curated playlists by Playground, one for each radio station. Each playlist can be around 100+ songs and Playground can update the playlist from every so often or from season to season.
-
Set aside a “blank” or custom named radio station for a player’s own playlists, these don’t need the DJ banter since DJ banter is usually specific to their own stations. I believe GTA V has this implemented already, but using a player’s local music files.
But since we don’t have this option yet, you can enable the xbox game bar on a Windows PC (if you play on PC) and enable the Spotify widget and play from a playlist. You can then use your phone as a remote to control Spotify or use yoru media keys to skip tracks.
I could be wrong but I believe if you download the spotify app on your xbox, you can play music while you play your game. I haven’t tried it myself but I think you can do it for forza.
Still remember Groove music back on Forza Horizon 3, it was such a game changer having your own music playing ingame especially when you went to the festivals where it also played
‘Dangerous Driving’ released in 2019 had Spotify integrated.
My only gripe with this is that the skill songs might be OP (for example, if you have a song that’s 6+ minutes long), but that can be easy to deal with. +Vote.
i agree
Groove Music never had the skill songs feature, so I would expect the same to happen if Spotify becomes a thing in-game.
As much as I like listening to the in-game car radio, it would be nice to be able to link Spotify accounts in order to listen to our choice of music while driving.
It could be featured as an option like with this kind of tree:
Options < Audio
< In-car radio
< Spotify or In-Game Radio
And when choosing the Spotify option, it would simply ask you if you’d like to connect Spotify specifically for Forza Horizon. Then it would let you choose from a playlist you already made.
It’d also help minimize the effort needed to turn the in-game music down, and pull up the Spotify application to leave it open in the background playing.
Perhaps this could be extended to other streaming services. I use YouTube Music but perhaps this could include Apple Music as well?
@MkyGoD would you like to share a thought on why you reckon this isn’t possible for FH5? not a software engineer of any sorts, but this sounds like a feature the devs could possibly include in the next Series update. would love to hear your take on this, you do seem to know quite a bit better than me
@Oganaster same here mate. it would be lovely if they could do not just Spotify but other services like YouTube Music and Apple Music too. I personally like to use Apple Music.
and, oh, for the love of god, please DO NOT EVER let those dang Spotify ads play in FH5! if that happens i would be one angry man
I think it would be great if you guys could bring Spotify into the game as a radio station. My genre of music is completely unrepresented. I would be willing to pay for their subscription if necessary to get it in game.
We’ve been asking for this, for quite literally years. Groove was originally used for FH3 but once it was discontinued, they removed it entirely from the game. They still haven’t done a replacement
I think it would be pretty cool if we were able to connect spotify or apple music to fh5 and listen to our music library as a radio station like groove music integration in fh3. both streaming services have apis that allow that kind of thing
oh, yes please! skill song integration would be cool as well
You get long songs with the classical music station (Eterna in FH5), perfect for Skill Song point farming.
A Groove music app replacement is long overdue. (SoundCloud and/or Spotify would suffice) 50% of the purpose of horizon is to be A MUSIC FESTIVAL but how can a player enjoy that element of the game when the music is limited and low quality? Horizon 1-3 felt like a genuine music festival. Almost like a mix between Coachella and SEMA the vibe was unmatched and it’s been missing from 4-5 making it so much more dull in the process.
it would be great if we can listen to our own music like PGG did with groove music in fh2 and fh1 but instead of groove music use spotify
Thank you all for your feedback. After reviewing this topic we are moving it to Previously Considered Suggestions as there are no plans to incorporate Spotify into FH5.
